Merle smiled, showing blood-stained teeth. He adjusted and pulled himself up, propping his back against the wall to support himself.
"Go to hell," Merle said.
Jeffery got up and punched him hard across the face again.
Merle grunted. There was a smile on his face that was unexplainable.
"Whose blood is this, Merle?!" he yelled. "If you don't give me an answer. I will-"
The door to Jeffery's chambers flew open and out of its hinges. The wood splintered immediately as vampires swarmed the room. The lead vampire that had escorted them from the shore of Bellmare stepped forward and looked at Jeffery from his head to toe. He saw the knife that was in Jeffery's hand and his gaze lingered there for a while.
"Take him… take them!" The vampire said.
