[5hrs, 24 minutes, and 32 seconds before the beginning of the second phase.]
"Heh, finally." It has already been a little over 6 days since the beginning of the first phase. And now there are only a few hours left.
If I'm just walking normally it takes me around 1 hour and a half to get to the high school, so I still had a lot of time.
During this week I've nearly used up all of my money, every day I used around 3.000 yen to buy food, and in the end, I lost 21.000 yen that way. I was currently eating the last bento I bought.
I was still under the same bridge I arrived in. The look strangers gave me wasn't the most pleasing ever but I started becoming used to it, after all, most of those people might turn into zombies soon enough, so their opinion of me wasn't my biggest concern.
On the second day after my arrival here, I went back to training. I always enjoyed training but now I was all on my own the vibe of my training was completely different, it was more serious and at the same time less effective.
Though even if I was on my own my skills kept on growing. Unfortunately, I had nobody I could use my [Eyes of the Lord] skill on which made it stay at level 40, this skill can be incredibly useful but when I'm all on my own or if the people around me are all weaker than me then it would be close to useless.
One of the things I noticed while training at the Ryozanpaku dojo was that the higher the technique I was observing the more exp I gained but I also needed to consume way more endurance.
I remember that one time Hayato the Living Superman showed me a high-level technique, I tried using [Eyes of the Lord] on it to see how much exp I would gain from it but it ended up being useless.
Right after he started showing me his technique, I immediately collapsed alongside an enormous pain in both of my eyes, I could feel like both of my eyeballs might fall out at any moment, and in the end I didn't even get to witness his full technique.
It was my first time seeing the limits of that skill. Though I couldn't complain since it was still nothing but an F-rank skill.
Both the skill's rank and my own endurance made it so that I couldn't stand using it for more than a few seconds in front of such a technique.
Though in this one week, I didn't have much to do so I spent a lot of time going through the system shop and talking to the system. And after a few days, I finally found something that might help me overcome a few weaknesses of the Eyes of the Lord skill.
For now, I've only unlocked a few of the D-rank objects in the store but after talking to the system I found out that a C-rank item might be exactly what I need.
[Mana key] It's a C rank item, I still didn't have any idea of what the price might be, but from what the system told me it would allow me to unlock a hidden stat called Mana. That's a stat I could use as a fuel for skills such as [Eyes of the Lord].
From what the system told me Mana is way more adapted to withhold the power of such skills. Which would in turn allow me to keep much more of my endurance.
Though that was the only good news of this one week. In this week some of my skills barely improved.
My cooking skill and calligraphy skill both stagnated at level 42 and level 14 respectively.
The only things I focused on in those few days were my footwork skill which went from level 45 to level 51, as well as my martial art skill went up by 13 levels and is now at level 17.
One of the things I noticed was that the higher the skill level is the harder it became to increase it. My footwork skill only went up by 6 levels in a week even though I trained it way more than my martial arts skills.
I even used up 12 of the energy replenishers I had stored up to increase the efficiency of my training and be able to train for longer. That was the only way for me to not get bored in this new world.
And when I was too exhausted I trained in my 2 level 1 skills. One of them being my killing intent skill. It went from level 1 to level 15. And thanks to it I also realized that there was yet another hidden stat I could unlock in the future.
[Mental power] That's the name of that hidden stat. Once I unlock it I'll be able to improve it which would in turn increase the strength of skills such as my killing intent.
That hidden stat was actually amazing, from what I understood, it would also help me overcome fear more easily and help me become more resilient.
I also tried raising my Ambidexterity since it was my first D-rank skill. But I soon enough realized that it was way way harder to increase the level of a higher ranked skill.
I've been using my weaker hand and feet for every single activity since I arrived here, but even then it only increased by 1 level.
Though I can't complain about that since either way it was an amazing skill, even at level 2 I could see the immense difference between now and how I was before getting the skill. Everything felt way more natural and I had much more control over my own body.
Other than training In this week I also went to buy myself some new clothes, I wasn't planning on staying a whole week with the same old clothes so I ended up spending 10.000 yen on clothes.
I still needed to keep some small levels of hygiene so at night I used the river to clean myself up. Luckily at night I was alone so it was fine.
My new schedule was both extremely free and extremely busy which was pretty exhausting. This week I developed a very weird sleeping schedule. I would take many small 2-3 hrs nap during the day and as soon as I woke up I'd focus on improving my skills, then eat and repeat the cycle.
Yesterday was the only day that broke the cycle, I tried to go to the high school with only my memory to make sure I knew the way and that's how I found out it would take me around an hour and a half.
I didn't have any phone or watch so I had to use the system as the only way for me to know the time.
The system notification about the beginning of the second phase was the only way for me to keep track of the time.
During the time in which I went to check out the high school yesterday, I ended up seeing a short pink-haired girl which I believe to be Saya Takagi, with that I was convinced that I ended up in the right world.
I also took the occasion to buy a bat at 5.000 yen, not only did it help me in practicing my weapon mastery but it would also help a lot when dealing with the zombies, I could also buy a weapon from the system but I found those to be a little too expensive for now.
The weapon from the system were of a way better quality but I wasn't planning on relying on weapons anyway. Now I only had 2.000 yen left but that was way more than necessary. In an apocalyptic world, money didn't matter much.
During the little time I had in this world, I also tried to remember as much as I could from the anime. I didn't manage to remember much but the more information I had the better my chances would be.
For now, my plan is to try reaching the ceiling as fast as possible, that's where 2 of the main characters would be. If I saved a random person I'd only gain 10 more coins at the end while if I saved the main characters I'd get 100 coins so the choice was easy.
I was also hoping for Hisashi to be counted as one of the main characters, it might not seem like it but the difference between 10 coins and 100 coins is extremely big. If he's counting as one of the main characters that would be equal to saving 10 people.
I also thought of whether Shido, the creepy teacher, would be considered one of the main characters. From what I remember he does hold some sort of importance to the story, but in the end I decided to not save him if he ever try to get in my way.
It would be too risky to be on good terms with him. Even if I might gain some additional coins by saving him I wasn't so desperate for coins.
Soon enough my body's exhaustion fell down on me and stopped me from overthinking this anymore. I just finished my training and still had around 5 hours so I decided to take a small nap before heading towards the high school.
I laid down on the grass I've been sleeping on for the last week and slowly closed my eyes then drifted to sleep.
------
[Warning: phase 2 has begun.]
"Fuck..." The system notification woke me up in the worst way possible. For the first time in this whole week. I've overslept.
I hurriedly went to take my bat and put on my shoes then started running towards the high school.
With my speed and endurance, I should be able to get there in less than half an hour.
Phase 2 has just started so let's hope it still didn't reach reached the high school yet by the time I get there.
