*Amon's pov*
I looked at all the protagonists gathered in front of me, luckily 8 got there in time, seeing them in person gave me a very weird feeling but I was slowly starting to get used to it.
"Let's first escape then we will take care of the introductions alright?" I said then slowly went to pick up my bat.
I've ran as fast as I could yet who would've thought the virus would spread so fast. I thought it would take more than an hour but it seems that a few minutes were enough to make it spread throughout the whole city.
[+1 coin!] That system notification became my favorite sound ever since I killed the first zombie that came my way. I already killed over a dozen of zombies just to get here. My first kill was a bit awkward and made me feel mixed feelings but soon after I started picking up the pace.
I was afraid that I might end up throwing up after my first kill but luckily I didn't have that problem, I did feel some sort of guilt because of how similar it looks to a human, but ultimately I knew that this was the right thing to do.
Suddenly, we all noticed a bunch of undead coming towards us, after seeing that, Rei, Hisashi, and Takashi all agreed with me.
The zombies noticed us and started coming towards us so we all started running towards the stairs to escape, I made sure to stay in the back to keep my eyes on everyone and make sure they don't get bitten.
"Stop!! That hurts!!"
"Don't eat me! Don't eat me!"
As soon as we reached the stairs, all we could hear were noises of people asking for help, those sounds were enough to convince us that the stairs actually weren't a viable option.
Usually, I would be able to clear the stairs on my own but right now I was way too tired, I've been killing zombies all the way until here while also running as fast as I could.
"..." A huge silence started taking place after those sounds quieted down, those people were surely already dead and got turned into zombies.
"Let's go to the rooftop. We can hide there until help comes." Hisashi proposed, he was the most level-headed one of their group.
They all ran towards the observatory as I followed behind them. It was pretty funny to see how desperate they were to go outside when I knew that outside the scenery might be even more horrible than it is inside.
I did my best to save a few people while outside but the level of damage is way too crazy. I can't tell if the people I saved managed to survive or not.
"What the hell is happening." After getting on the roof Takashi noticed the smoke coming out of many different buildings in the city as well as all the faraway cries for help.
It seems that they finally noticed, the situation outside is in no way safer than here.
"No wonder the police couldn't pick up..." Hisashi said while looking at what was happening outside.
"What the hell is going on??" Rei was panicking even more.
"Hahaha, probably a big barbecue." I tried joking around to lighten the mood but I was met with a complete silence on their part, it seems like none of them were in the mood for that.
'I'm starting to miss Shu.' He's the only one I know who would actually laugh with me at those kinds of dumb jokes.
Suddenly, a huge wind hit our faces, it wasn't natural in any way and I could feel it coming from above us, we all turned towards the origin of this huge wind, only to see that a few helicopters were passing on top of us.
"They're Blackhawks." Hisashi said.
"It's the American army.. Ah no.. It's the self-defense force!"
"Where did they come from? There are no bases or anything around here?" Takashi asked to no one in particular. We all had the same question in mind.
"Help us!!" Rei panicked and started waving her hands toward the helicopter.
"It's useless." I said coldly. If there's one thing that annoys me ever since my first life it's people who yell loudly, and Rei was clearly amazing at that. I could already imagine how much of a headache she and Saya were about to be.
"What?? Why??" She looked at me angrily while still yelling as loudly as before.
"He's right. Think about what Takashi said. They're probably here to carry out some specific order. And look outside, everyone is killing each other yet they're ignoring that whole chaos. They have no intention to help us." Hasashi answered her question in my place.
"What the fuck are those things anyway?" Takashi asked while showing his already obvious frustration.
"Zombies? Kind of like in movies, if they bit you, you become one of them. And the only way to stop them that I know of is by crushing their head. You all have already seen that piercing their heart didn't stop them." I answered Takashi's question and everyone agreed with me.
"Aghhhh!" All of a sudden we heard screams and zombie noises from the stairs, Takashi went to check on the door to see if it was going to hold its ground.
"I- I think the lock is about to break!" He yelled towards us, which made the zombies hit the door even more excitedly.
"What should we do?" Takashi asked. Even if I was tired, I already had my bat in hand and was ready to take on whatever was about to come out of this door but luckily Hasashi had another idea.
"Let's get up to the observatory...We can block the stairs." I didn't really like the idea of having to run away but for now I needed to rest, I was too exhausted after sprinting for so long. If I could just rest instead of using some stamina replenishers that would be useful.
We all did as Hisashi suggested and went up to the observatory then blocked the stairs that led to it.
As soon as we got there, I immediately laid down on the ground and closed my eyes, by now I was used to sleeping in weird places, so I could very well take a nap here.
But unfortunately, someone interrupted my nap. "So who are you?" Rei looked at me suspiciously. Her annoying voice took me woke me up as soon as I started dozing off.
"Amon." I didn't feel like making it a long introduction, especially after she just disrupted my resting time.
"What's that supposed to mean?" She looked even more annoyed.
"That's my name and that's all you need to know." I replied equally as annoyed, I didn't want to give my last name cause it might cause trouble for the backstory I created for myself.
"Forgive her, she's just nervous because of everything that happened today, I also wanted to thank you for saving us earlier." Hisashi tried to calm things down.
"No need to thank me, I was just passing by." I replied with a smile.
"Passing by? But you're not wearing the school uniform? You're not from this school right, I don't remember meeting you. How old are you actually?" Hasashi seemed to be the only one to notice and ask, he couldn't hold back his curiosity.
"I'm 15 years old and I came to see my big brother who studies here and is a third-year student." I repeated this story so many times in my mind that I've learned it by heart. I knew that with a fake backstory, things would go way more smoothly for me.
Everyone seemed shocked after learning that the one who saved them and killed the zombie in such a gruesome way was 2 years younger than them.
"Oh.. Then shouldn't we search for your brother?" Takashi asked warmly, after learning about my story his whole mannerism changed and he started lowering his guard around me.
"I already found him. I had to kill him myself, right now I just want to rest." I said in a small voice, I intentionally lowered my head to make myself look even sadder.
That was the story I made for myself. By not giving my last name they won't be able to tell if the brother I'm talking about really exists or not. And I'll act like it is a sensitive subject whenever someone asks for too many informations.
That story was the perfect backstory to escape any suspicions, from what I remember later on in the story everyone ended up having guns, so I preferred not having any of them shoot me in the back because of some worries or suspicion.
That story was also a perfect way to get them to shut up. They all understood that my brother must've turned into one of those and that I've had no choice but to kill him myself.
When you add that to the fact that I was 2 yrs younger than both of them, it made Rei in particular look at me very differently. I could see that she clearly felt bad about the way she treated me and started regretting ever yelling at me.
After a little awkward silence, Hisashi sat down next to me and awkwardly tried to talk to me.
"Well.. Amon right?" He asked with a friendly smile.
"Yes, that's me. What's wrong?"
"I wanted to thank you. If not for you, I would've certainly ended up like them. I was too naive to think I could handle them unarmed." He said while looking at the many zombies on the stars.
"Don't worry about it buddy." I was too exhausted to care about those trivial things. I could feel my eyes closing themselves as he spoke.
"By the way, my name is Hisashi Igou, and the black-haired guy with the bat is Takashi Komuro. And this is my girlfriend Rei Miyamoto." He said while pointing towards Rei who was looking down with a face full of guilt.
"Well nice to meet you all but I think we had enough rest, we can't stay here forever and we obviously need to get out so I believe we should do that as soon as possible." I said while slowly standing up, I wanted to fall asleep again but I remembered that I still had many other protagonists I needed to save.
I knew I couldn't sleep right now. The sooner we go out the more people I can save. And considering that this is an alternative world in which all of the protagonists end up dying I have to be ready for many random variables to appear.
"Why? Can't we rest for a bit?" Rei asked while looking down with a tired look on her face. I could understand how she felt, I was physically exhausted but she was the most mentally exhausted one here.
"No. As much as I'd like to rest more, the earlier we move, the more survivors there will be." I said with a serious and strict look on my face.
They all knew that I was right. The more survivors there are, the more allies we'd get which would in turn increase our chances of survival. The best course of action right now is to gather allies.
