[ Continuing to the story ]
Bernadette Ritter along with her vice platoon commander, carefully observes and watched over their peers sparring. But there's this certain match that she's been anticipating, her eyes often glance at Claire Duvent from afar.
She greatly curious of how this woman will perform, not that she's having high expectations, but just pure curiosity of how she fights. Because they say a person's fighting style often reflects their true selves.
"For the 10th match, rank number 90 have been defeated by rank number 86." The vice commander announced.
Bernadette then approaches the loser of the 10th match and have hesitated in punishing him because of the wretched state he's in. But as a platoon commander, she can't do favors and treat everyone equally regardless of their situation. "M-Ma'am Bernadette..." rank number 90 looked her in the eyes, implicitly begging not to be punished.
Right, a platoon commander treats everyone equally regardless of their situation. Bernadette transforms her shifter weapon into a whip. "Get up." She ordered.
"Hngg..." the poor young man had no choice but to follow her words and receive his punishment. He got on his feet and turned his back for Bernadette to whip on 3 times.
Lewin, ranked number 86, is pleased to hear his sparring partner to screech from the pain. "Heh, you did good." Weng, ranked number 82, praised his pal.
"Haha, it was like child's play."
"Now it's Horris's turn." Now they look forward seeing how Horris will handle his sparring partner. Right after Bernadette was done punishing the loser of the 10th match, the next pair proceeds to the sparring spot.
"Claire Duvent, wasn't it? Don't go crying and begging for mercy later." Horris smirks.
Claire paid no mind to him as she stares back at Bernadette who focused her eyes on her. Being ignored got Horris mad. "Hey! Are you deaf or something?!"
"Huh? Were you saying something?" Claire asked thoughtlessly and made Horris even more infuriated. "Why you!!—"
"The 11th match now begins!" Horris was cut off when the vice commander signals their match to start. The pair instantly goes to their fighting stance and had their eyes focused on one another.
Bernadette grins at the scene.
The pair dashed towards each other, instantly transforming their shifters into blade weapons. And everyone on the training grounds were shocked to witness Claire's right leg to transform into a katana, including Horris himself.
Their blades clashed, making sparks from the force of their swings. "Haaah! You gotta be kidding me!? A shifter weapon implanted on the leg?!" He cackled.
"What, you got a problem with that?" Claire raised an eyebrow at him.
"I don't but you do!!" Both jumped back to make their next move. Horris became even more confident that he can dominate this match.
It was known that shifter weapons implanted on the lower part of the body are more difficult to control. It was due to the reason that humans can do more specific and complex movements on the upper body than the lower body, they limit the placement options of the shifter weapons on the upper region.
It was also discovered that it was harder to project the desired form of weapon on shifters implanted on the legs, and that it will take time for a person to master morphing their shifters that was implanted on the lower part of their body.
But Horris made a grave mistake for underestimating Claire Duvent at that moment. Even without her shifter, Claire was far stronger than what most expects her to be.
"Haa!!!" Horris ducked when he reached Claire that attacked him with a full force roundhouse kick. That gave him a chance to grab her right leg and push her to the ground. "Whoaa!!"
He quickly stomped a foot on her stomach to keep her on the ground. "AHAHAHA THAT WAS A QUICK ONE!" A wicked grin appeared on Horris's face. "YOU TALK LIKE SOME BIG SHOT EARLIER BUT NOW YOU LOOK LIKE AN UPSIDE DOWN COCKROACH!!"
Horris enjoyed his moment stepping down on Claire, though he stops when he felt her grabbing his foot that was steppin on her. "What's this?! Are you gonna cry now?"
Claire remained calm in her state and mumbled some words that only she can hear. "I've been stepped on like this for countless of times before thanks to a certain someone, it was so humiliating at first but I hate to admit that I got used to it. But now that I'm in a similar situation again, I've been wanting to do this idea I thought of recently."
"Huh!? The hell are you talking about? Are you trying to beg—" she wasn't listening to the taunts of her sparring partner, instead she placed her hands on Horris's front boots and ankle, giving it a 180 degree twist. "Wha—AHHH!!" He instantly falls on his back and held on his foot.
"My foot!!—My fucking foot!! It hurts!!! Aaahh!!" He cried out.
When Claire got on her feet again, Bernadette was greatly impressed. "Bravo!!" She claps and finds the scenario entertaining. "That was really quick, it wasn't even a minute yet but you disabled him for combat in a sec! Anyway, you can step aside now, I'll be giving rank number 89 his punishment right away."
Claire remained on the sparring ground despite the platoon commander's order. "Hmm? Is something wrong?" Bernadette asked.
"Who said the match is already over?" Claire was now the one looking down at Horris with a wicked smile on her face. "We were only getting started." She then continued to torture the hell out of Horris.
The scenerio was no longer a match but a live torturing event. Everyone that was watching had their jaws dropping at Claire's ruthlessness, this greatly concerned the vice commander and got him consulting with Bernadette. "Commander, we must put a stop to this!! At this rate, she might kill him on the spot!!"
"...nah, I don't think she'll kill him."
"But commander!! That's not a sparring match anymore—" the vice commander shuts up when Bernadette gave him an intense glare.
That's right, a platoon commander treats everyone equally regardless of their situation. This current match was no different from the matches that the first two members of the scumbag trio has done, Bernadette didn't interfered with them either.
And Claire haven't violated any conditions to put their match to halt as her sparring partner hasn't admitted defeat yet. So they're allowed to use the allotted time for their match to spar how they want.
Horris already wanted to admit defeat but he was too late as Claire beat his face into a state where he can't even move his lips to talk. And by the time that 5 minutes was done, Claire stops beating the shit out of Horris.
Everyone was uncomfortable looking at her, from there, she gained a reputation in the 3rd Platoon that's worse than the scumbag trio.
Terrence, the vice commander clears his throat to declare the results of the match. "For the 11th match, rank number 89 have been—" but before he can finish the statement, Claire said something that blew everyone's mind.
"I admit defeat."
