Chapter 54 - Sunrise

Fu Xingyun's dark gaze looked into the distance. "You're too far away."

Lin Qiong was puzzled, "You can't feel the blowing?"

Fu Xingyun and Qin Weichu locked eyes. "Hmm."

Lin Qiong held Fu Xingyun's cheek, brought his head forward, pouted, and started exhaling towards him.

From a distance, the two of them looked as if they were kissing.

Fu Xingyun looked at Qin Weichu, who was clenching his teeth, and a slight curve appeared on his thin lips, a sense of satisfaction surging from his heart.

Qin Heng noticed Qin Weichu's gaze, then turned his head and said, "See? You have no place here."

Qin Weichu turned his face away with an unpleasant expression.

Lin Qiong, seeing that blowing air didn't get any reaction from Fu Xingyun, decided to touch the man's lips with his fingers.

Fu Xingyun raised his eyebrows. "What are you doing?"

"Just checking if you're injured."

Ji Yao, noticing that the curry in the pot was ready, walked over and called them, "Lin Qiong."

Lin Qiong, who was earnestly checking, was startled, turned to Ji Yao, and said, "Hmm."

After Ji Yao saw their posture clearly, she was greatly surprised. "What are you two doing?!"

Pointing to the still-bright orange sun that hadn't completely set, she continued, "It's not even fully dark yet."

"..."

Lin Qiong stood up and explained, "Xingyun's lips got burned, and I'm blowing on them to cool them down."

Ji Yao looked at him and questioned, "Then why is your face red?"

Lin Qiong pointed to a nearby spot, artistic in his response, "Because the sunset is shining on my face."

"..."

Ji Yao looked at the two of them, then pulled Lin Qiong over. "Why do I always feel like you two are doing something indecent?"

Lin Qiong asked, "Like what?"

"Not suitable for children."

Lin Qiong looked at her. "That's for you to answer."

Ji Yao: ?

Lin Qiong smiled brightly, "Why is your mind filled with inappropriate stuff?"

"..."

After chatting for a while, Lin Qiong took Fu Xingyun to have dinner. Lin Qiong handed the curry to Fu Xingyun, and then reminded him, "Remember to blow on it before eating."

Li Hanyang looked at Qin Heng beside him, teasing, "Remember to blow on it before eating."

Qin Heng instantly lost his appetite. "You're really disgusting."

Li Hanyang: ...

Where is the brotherhood they promised?

He then complained, "You have no sense of humor at all. No wonder your wife left."

Qin Heng: ...

Come on, let's hurt each other.

After dinner, it was almost dark, and the meteor shower was scheduled for the next night. As the temperature dropped in the evening, Lin Qiong didn't linger outside and helped clean up the remaining trash. Then, he took Fu Xingyun back to the tent.

Lin Qiong used a small flashlight to set up the sleeping bag. Fu Xingyun glanced and asked, "Is there only one?"

Lin Qiong popped his head out of the sleeping bag, "Yeah, Ji Yao said she specially ordered a double for our relationship."

Saying that, he got up and added another layer of clothing on top of the sleeping bag.

Fu Xingyun was puzzled, "What's that for?"

Lin Qiong was serious, "It's cold at night. In case you catch a cold and get sick, it wouldn't be good."

Lin Qiong quickly changed into thicker sleeping clothes, not as thin as the ones he wore at home. Then, he swiftly got into the sleeping bag and, with his head poking out, looked at Fu Xingyun. "Don't take off your clothes yet. Wait until I warm up the sleeping bag, and then you can come in. We don't want your legs getting cold."

Saying that, he rolled in the sleeping bag like a caterpillar. When he felt it was warm enough, he got up to help Fu Xingyun change clothes and then swiftly pulled him into the sleeping bag.

Lin Qiong spoke, "Is it cold?"

The two of them sleeping in the same sleeping bag were in close proximity, and the warmth of Lin Qiong's words hit Fu Xingyun's neck directly.

Fu Xingyun felt a bit ticklish and responded, "It's okay."

After hearing this, Lin Qiong reached out from the sleeping bag to pull and adjust the clothes covering them.

"If you're cold, just tell me."

Fu Xingyun didn't say anything in response.

Inside the tent, silence settled. Lin Qiong lay in the sleeping bag without a hint of drowsiness. He took out his phone and glanced at it; it was only eight in the evening.

Lin Qiong tilted his head slightly. "Xingyun, are you sleepy?"

Fu Xingyun replied, "Not really."

"I'm having trouble falling asleep."

Fu Xingyun glanced at him. "We need to watch the sunrise tomorrow."

Upon hearing this, Lin Qiong instantly became more alert. Then, he leaned towards Fu Xingyun and asked eagerly, "Have you ever seen a sunrise?"

"No."

Lin Qiong was a bit surprised. "You haven't?!"

Fu Xingyun replied, "Why can't I have not seen it?"

Lin Qiong, feeling a bit embarrassed, said, "I thought wealthy people like you would enjoy life more."

Then, he asked again, "Xingyun, are you cold?"

"Not cold."

"But I'm a bit cold."

Fu Xingyun glanced at him with a deep look, then gently opened his lips, "Come here."

Lin Qiong, like a playful cat, quickly snuggled up, and his lips didn't stay idle. "Xingyun, you're so good. I love you even more."

Fu Xingyun, avoiding eye contact, said, "Let's sleep."

With that, he closed his eyes.

Lin Qiong snuggled up to Fu Xingyun, and Fu Xingyun's body was warm, feeling like a furnace.

Lin Qiong moved closer, and then Fu Xingyun felt something being placed between his legs.

Fu Xingyun opened his eyes and looked at Lin Qiong, asking, "What are you doing?"

Lin Qiong extended his leg into the space between Fu Xingyun's legs, saying, "Keeping warm."

Then, with a bright smile, he added, "Xingyun, you're really warm."

"I love you even more."

The words of rejection lingered on Fu Xingyun's lips, but he sighed and said, "Whatever."

Damn, he's really good at this.

Lin Qiong leaned against Fu Xingyun, his eyes half-closed, looking drowsy.

Despite the mocking words from earlier in the day echoing in his mind, Fu Xingyun gazed at the person in his arms. "Lin Qiong."

"Hmm?" Lin Qiong hummed sleepily.

"If someone offered you a large sum of money to leave me, would you?"

Lin Qiong, still half-asleep, shook his head. "No."

"Why?"

"Because none of them are as rich as you."

"..."

Fu Xingyun took a deep breath. "What if someone is richer than me?"

"Still no." Lin Qiong smiled with his eyes closed. "Because you're the coolest!"

"…"

In the book, the protagonist, Fu Xingyun, undergoes a dramatic transformation, becoming an incredibly impressive character. Some readers even commented, "If Fu Xingyun doesn't die, he might as well be the main character."

Lin Qiong is certain that if he were to leave Fu Xingyun for someone else, there would be two more names added to the antagonist's death list.

Lin Qiong turned to the side, and as if he had no bones, he patted Fu Xingyun on the back. "Rest assured, even if the whole world abandons you, I won't leave."

Cherish life, love the lunatics.

Fu Xingyun's eyes darkened. "All of that is what you said."

Lin Qiong, half asleep, replied, "What I said, I said."

"If you dare to go back on your word, I'll break your legs."

Lin Qiong, in his drowsiness, didn't catch the determination in Fu Xingyun's words. Patting his back, he just hoped that Fu Xingyun would fall asleep quickly. "Of course, if I dare to go back on my word, you can definitely break my legs."

Seeing that the man was about to say something, Lin Qiong quickly scooted forward, arched his back, and interrupted, "I love you. Even if you give me more money and a bigger house, I won't leave you."

After cutting off all escape routes, Lin Qiong buried his face in Fu Xingyun's chest. "Good night."

Fu Xingyun: ...

Fu Xingyun watched as the person in his arms closed his eyes and followed suit.

Not knowing how long they slept, the alarm set on the phone rang. Fu Xingyun took a deep breath, then opened his drowsy eyes, reaching out to turn off the alarm. The feeling of waking up early wasn't pleasant. After a while, he gently patted the person sleeping beside him.

"Lin Qiong, wake up."

Lin Qiong, deeply asleep, felt someone patting him. He quickly grabbed that hand and pulled it into his embrace, saying, "Let's sleep a little longer."

Fu Xingyun looked at Lin Qiong's sleeping face, mischievously reached out, and pinched him, saying, "Wake up."

Lin Qiong made a rejecting sound, "Mm..."

The youth's fair cheeks had a slight blush from sleep, revealing a charming and adorable look. Fu Xingyun rubbed his fingers gently on Lin Qiong's face and said, "Get up and watch the sunrise."

Upon hearing the words "sunrise," Lin Qiong gradually woke up.

He forced himself to open his eyes and mumbled, "Watching the sunrise."

Fu Xingyun replied, "Hmm."

Lin Qiong slowly sat up, muttering to himself, "Watching the sunrise, I'm getting up now to see it. I'll go watch the sunrise, taking my whole family with me."

Seeing Lin Qiong's grumbling appearance, Fu Xingyun couldn't help but smile.

"If you're tired, don't go."

"Nope." Lin Qiong started putting on his socks. "I'm already up. I want to go see the sunrise."

Lin Qiong rubbed his face to try and wake himself up. After getting dressed, he turned back to help Fu Xingyun.

Because others were still sleeping, both of them moved very quietly.

Lin Qiong opened the tent, and outside was pitch black. He took out a flashlight and handed it to Fu Xingyun. "Hold this."

Then, he crouched down,

"What are you doing?"

Lin Qiong turned to look at Fu Xingyun, "Come up, I'll carry you on my back."

Fu Xingyun was momentarily stunned. Lin Qiong looked at him and said, "The path to the hill behind is uphill, and it's difficult to push a wheelchair. If you want to try walking, it's not good for your knees."

Fu Xingyun looked at Lin Qiong's thin back and hesitated for a moment.

"I won't go."

Lin Qiong was surprised, but he didn't want to speak loudly and disturb others. "Why?!"

"I don't want to."

"You're lying!" Lin Qiong looked into his eyes. "You clearly want to."

Saying that, he grabbed Fu Xingyun's arm and placed it on his shoulder, almost forcefully dragging him onto his back. Then, taking a deep breath, he stood up with Fu Xingyun on his back and headed towards the hill.

Fu Xingyun wasn't light, and Lin Qiong had experienced it before when helping him. However, yesterday he had picked up a thick wooden stick, which now served as a makeshift cane to prevent any accidents while carrying Fu Xingyun on his back.

Fu Xingyun could clearly hear Lin Qiong's labored breathing while on his back.

"Lin Qiong, you can stop here. Put me down, and you can go and see for yourself."

"No."

"You can see the sunrise from anywhere."

"It's not the same."

"How is it not the same?"

Lin Qiong looked at the small hill they had reached yesterday. "It's different everywhere."

Saying that, he gritted his teeth and walked toward the path leading to the mountaintop.

When they reached the mountaintop and Lin Qiong settled Fu Xingyun, he almost collapsed on the ground. Though the temperature wasn't high, he was covered in sweat.

By now, the sky was gradually turning a fish-belly white. Lin Qiong sat next to Fu Xingyun, eagerly looking into the distance.

"In a moment... the sunrise will be here."

Watching Lin Qiong speak with difficulty due to fatigue, Fu Xingyun curled his fingers.

Just as he was about to say something, at the next moment, a golden radiance streaked across the sky, dazzling yet captivating.

Excitedly, Lin Qiong grabbed Fu Xingyun's hand. "Xingyun!"

A faint voice echoed in their ears. Lin Qiong had called his name and fell silent, only staring intently into the distance without blinking. Fu Xingyun glanced at him, and he saw the radiant sunrise reflecting on Lin Qiong's fair face. However, compared to the brightness in his eyes, the sunlight seemed a bit dim.

The sun had completely risen on the horizon, and when they snapped out of the moment, it was already five in the morning.

Lin Qiong stood up again, ready to lead Fu Xingyun down the mountain. When leaving, he turned around reluctantly for one last look.

As they descended, Lin Qiong walked with a heavy heart. "Xingyun, can we come and watch the sunrise again in the future?"

Fu Xingyun replied, "Sure."

"Next time, it's your turn to carry me."

"...Okay."
