As Adam opened his eyes, his mind became flooded with the thoughts of the others around him, quickly Adam reeled in his newfound power, shutting out the myriad of voices that drowned out his own thoughts, it took him a few moments to do so since he was new to the power.
Although it only took but a few moments, it was hours to Adam. His brain was super charged even further by the combination of the various factors involved. Implants, DNA and now the Infinity Gems.
Adam could feel the four gems that were connected to him, they were now connected on a deeper level, their energy absorbed by the implants, feeding their evolution and growth. In turn, these improvements passed into his own DNA. The Forerunner part of his DNA absorbed and mutated because of it, absorbing the concepts they represented and adapting to the energy within them.
As Adam scanned the stones, his expression changed several times in seconds; doubt, bewilderment, shock, then understanding. All these expressions had only flashed ever so slightly, unreadable by normal humans, perhaps only speedsters would've caught it since Adam was processing information so quickly.
Adam had noticed the stones had changed, not in just appearance, their colors had changed as well, they were looking like their comic coloring and appearance. More Gem than Stone.
The Mind Stone in the Cinematic Universe was yellow, as shown by the diamond in Vision's forehead, but in the comics it was actually blue, like how they showed it originally while it was in the Sceptre. It granted the user enhanced mental and psionic abilities, giving access to the thoughts and dreams of others, if used in conjunction with the Power Gem, it granted access to "all minds in existence simultaneously."
The Space Stone in the movies was blue, originally it was purple and like its comic counterpart, it gave the user control over space, as shown when Loki both arrived on Earth and then used it to escape by teleportation, then was caught by the TVA.
It allowed its users to instantly travel any distance, or move objects across space and time instantaneously, granting extra speed as well.
What they didn't show was, its comic version, when the Space Gem was used in tandem with the Power Gem, it granted the ability to be everywhere at once, literal omnipresence.
The Reality Stone was red while the Reality Gem, found in the comics, was actually yellow. Unlike its movie counterpart, which basically only granted a simplistic wish granting ability that could create miniature alternate realities, they only took affect for as long as the user wielded it and willed it to remain, the comic version was much the same, however when combined with the Power Gem, it affected reality directly, becoming permanent until the user willed it to change back.
Think about when Thanos took the stone from the Collector and fought the Guardians of the Galaxy, he had turned Drax into pieces and Mantis into strings, but after Thanos left with Gamora, they returned to normal. Thanos didn't care about them, thus after he left they returned to normal, he stopped actively thinking about it, with the Power Gem it would've been permanent.
The user would have to actually want them to go back to normal, otherwise they would remain that way forever, it would be their new reality from that point forward.
The Power Stone was shown to be purple in the movies, the Power Gem was red in the comics originally. Granting its user the ability to manipulate all forms of energies and powers, enhancing their physical strength and durability.
If they were already with an ability, it augmented any superhuman abilities, as well as boosting the other gems and granting omnipotence when used with the others.
The Time Stone was shown as green, but originally it was actually orange. Like shown in the MCU it could control time, allowing the past and future to be seen, stop, slowed, sped up and rewind the flow of time. Creation of time-loops, like how Stephen Strange stopped Dormammu from invading Earth after the Ancient One was killed, were simple tricks.
In the comics, the Time Gem, also allowed the user to travel thru time, not just peer into it, allowing you to change and alter even the past, you could also create time-loops on a universal scale. When backed by the Power Gem, it granted omniscience and total control over the past, present and future.
Last but not least the Soul Stone, while shown to be orange in the movie, originally, as the Soul Gem, it was green, it actually granted control of both the living and the dead. The comic version had the additional benefit of granting access to a pocket universe, and when used with the Power Gem, it granted the user control over all life within the universe.
This goes to show just how different the Infinity Stones from each universe were, had they not received such apparent nerfing, the Avengers, Captain Marvel and Thor along with the others wouldn't have stood a chance even remotely, unless they themselves wielded the gauntlet against Thanos.
Basically wielding all stones together made you equivalent to One Above All, giving total control of the universe they are contained in. The movies do show this in the way half of all life in the universe was both killed and brought back, all with just a snap of the finger. Which is completely unnecessary to activate the stones, in the comics it didn't need any physical act to accomplish anything, just a thought was enough.
What Adam was seeing however, everything showed that it wasn't that the stones were nerfed, per say, but were just limited by the Cinematic Universe versions of their counterparts.
Unlike his comic counterpart, Thanos wasn't shown to actually worship death, in the MCU, Thanos thought he was saving the universe as a whole by culling half all its life, allowing the finite resources to last longer.
Understandably they wanted to make the story more family friendly apparently, although not sure which is actually worst, a mad man who wants to kill half the life in the universe to save it, or one who wants to sacrifice half of the life in the universe, as an offering to please Lady Death, the Goddess of Death itself, a physical manifestation of the concept of Death within the Marvel Universe.
Eventually Deadpool stole her away from Thanos and had a long lasting affair, which infuriated the Mad Titan to be cuckolded so hardcore, but that is another story, one full of twists and turns in typical Deadpool fashion.
Back to Adam, his senses were now drastically improved due to the gems, he had been shocked by the gems new looks, but had quickly recognized them for what they were. That was the point he had realized the truth of the stones, now he knew it wasn't that they were nerfed, only limited by the scope of the beings within the MCU itself.
As Adam looked around the medical bay, he noticed the damage to his ship, caused by the fusion of energies from the stones and himself. Using his new abilities to instantly repair the damage, Adam looked around the room to see only Eve standing there with a smile.
Her connection to Adam was restored, and with it a massive boost to herself as well, her connection to Adam grew more profound and mysterious, her own computing abilities also dramatically increased.
When Adam saw Yelena running in slow motion and her speech was slowed to an unintelligible level, Eve had sensed Adam's distress. He had seen and heard many fan theories about why the Flash and most Speedsters were socially awkward, now he knew why.
Just when Adam was about to try to figure out how to bring his mental facilities back to normal speeds, Eve stepped in. Like a computer, Eve partitioned Adams brain, this would allow him to maintain the constant state of influx in the time difference, his brain would easily be able to switch modes while not in combat.
Seeing everything resume to normal, Adam couldn't help but look to Eve, his eyes showed true sincerity and relief as he thanked her mentally.
"Adam, are you alright? What happened?" Yelena, who Adam could finally see and hear normally, asked as she ran over and began looking over him for any signs of injury.
"I'm fine Yelena, just needed a bit of rest. Apparently I haven't slept since I awoke, guess living in space has some drawbacks. No night and day, hard to determine when to sleep I guess." Adam answered as he scratched his cheek in embarrassment, especially after seeing the look he was getting from everyone else all at the same time.
Shortly after Yelena had walked in, Jane and the others had also joined in, they were shocked by Adam's statement. The Invasion was months ago, and he had stated he hadn't slept since awakening, even only taking into count the invasion, it would be impossible for a human to go so long with no sleep.
Darcy was the first to speak up and ask the question on everyone's mind, she rarely ever used a filter, "Question, how long ago did you wake up the last time?" Darcy asked with a raised hand, as if she was in class.
Adam's silence for a few moments, his face showing a thoughtful expression as he had to think how long he has been awake, stunned everyone. Eve finally broke the silence, "He has been awake for 547.89395 days."
Her answer shocked Jane first since she was good with numbers, "But that's like year in a half, are you human?" She couldn't help but ask incredulously.
"Well yea, I'm human. But after the procedure I went thru my stamina is constantly refilling, most SPARTAN's can go many days without sleep without it affecting us much, even in the heat of battle. Eve moving forward, remind me after a week or so when I should sleep, if I base it on if I'm tired or not isn't going to be good, probably." Adam said as he then made his way over to the exit.
He was mentally reviewing the status reports that Eve was showing him on his HUD when Yelena finally came out and asked, "So we going to go show this Charles Xavier a piece of our mind or what?" Yelena asked as she began cracking her knuckles.
"Not quite yet, I will go have a talk with the Professor after we clean up the Dark Elves." Adam said as he began sending coordinates off planet to Peggy Carter.
"Dark Elves? Like in what's in the movies?" Darcy asked as she was listen in on the conversation.
"Yes and no. Rather than loving trees and nature, these love the dark. Eve, coordinate with Peggy, we are going to lure them into a trap. I want an EMP ready and make sure everyone stays outside the blast radius, don't need any accidents." Adam stated after he finalized the plan and forwarded the plans to Peggy.
Yelena excitedly asked, "We going to actually fight a space battle?" She has been wanting to participate in a space battle for a while now but no opportunity has arisen to do so.
"If everything goes as planned then no. We will be disabling their ship and sending in a boarding party. I want to keep damage to my, I mean their ship minimal, hence why we are using an EMP, it will disable their power distribution system and various other systems." Adam explained as he made his way to his room. "Eve, take Doctor Foster and her team back to their lab and copy all the data for her to review. I need a shower and ...." Just as Adam was about to leave, an alarm began to go off.
"Adam, we have received signal from our probe stationed just outside Asgard. A large energy signature has just been detected within the outskirts of Asgard, I am also detecting various smaller energy signatures beginning to power up." Eve stated what the alarm was for.
'What the hell? Wasn't the only reason Malekith attacked Asgard because Jane was there with the Reality Stone? What changed? Was it me? But if Malekith detected the Aether, shouldn't he be coming here?' Adam thought to himself as his mind raced, he didn't want the same events to happen like in the movie.
Frigga was a kind woman who kept Thor and Odin in check, she was very compassionate even towards humans. Although the movies didn't show her much or even tell you of her deeds, but those who knew the comics knew she had done a lot to protect and defend the Earth. Adam wasn't going to let her fate be the same as before.
'Even though her death is what changed Loki, made him rethink his life choices, Loki can learn to be a better person some other way. I'm not about to allow one of Earth's protectors to fall, especially if I can prevent it.' Adam thought to himself as he knew he had to hurry with a new plan.
'Wait, I don't need a new plan. I just need to lure them away with the Aether. That should be what they are after. They probably think the Aether is there or something.' Adam thought, then he made his decision.
"Eve, cancel our trip to take them back. Doctor Foster, you will need to come with us for the moment, we need to get everything ready to stop the Dark Elf invasion of Asgard. We will get you back once we have resolved the issues we have now." Adam ordered as the Prometheus began to fly at high speed back to the Infinity to prepare for the guests.
