Chapter 43 - Chapter 43: Asgard Invaded

As Adam was going thru his upgrades, two things were taking place as well.

In Kamar-Taj, Ancient One was completely aware of what was going on, her connection to the Time Stone made her aware of what was happening to the stones in Adam's possession.

In fact her connection to the Time Stone was actually starting to dwindle, even though the stones themselves didn't necessarily have a consciousness, they do have a form of will, kind of like the force in Star Wars, a will of the Universe. Infinity Stones didn't just embody the different concepts of the universe, they also held within them a connection to each other as well.

It was why once they were no longer within their respective universes, they lost their luster and turned into just ordinary rocks or gems, no longer connected to the universe they originated from and thus lost their abilities. Dormant until they return to their universe.

Because the stones were connected, the changes to the ones in Adam's hand were sensed by the others as well, the will to become like the others grew within the stones themselves. The stones wanted to return to the source.

Sensing the change in the Time Stone, Ancient One began to use her power to peer into the future, this was something she held much curiosity for. However, what she saw puzzled and frightened her at the same time. What she saw was actually Adam, he was approaching the New York Sanctum, like he was ready for war, he was backed by four of his SPARTAN soldiers, all who shared the same burning rage in their eyes.

This puzzled her because she also knew Adam a bit since she has been watching him since his arrival, observing the type of person he was. She was a defender of the Earth from entities outside their universe after all, since Adam did fall under that category, she had to see if he was a danger to the Earth.

She knew something had to have happened that actually changed Adam, she had noticed he was reluctant to meet and a bit respectful of her as well as her order, but what she saw in that vision had every notion of respect gone. What she saw was rage, one that sought to destroy.

Knowing something wasn't right, she used the stone to peer into the future of one of the SPARTAN soldiers that were with Adam. Since Adam had gained the first stone, she had lost her ability to peer into Adam's future directly, the other stones interfered with her ability to do so without using other means to accomplish it.

It was much easier to just peer in on others who were close to him. Not long after doing so, her face turned ashen. Her brows furrowed as she watched an event unfold, one that would bring about not only her end, but of all in Kamar-Taj.

She watched in horror as her disciple Kaecilius launch a surprise attack on Adam, which was thwarted by Yelena. She sacrificed herself, Kaecilius had set up a large spell, a very powerful and taboo spell that tore the soul to pieces, a spell from the Darkhold, her death caused their immediate retaliation on Kaecilius.

After Kaecilius was killed, Adam then turned his attention to her, and her order of sorcerers, since he thought that Kaecilius had done his attack under her orders, he was one of her direct disciples, so it wasn't an unfounded thought.

After her vision was over, she quickly called Mordo into her room, she knew she had little time to stop Kaecilius, so upon learning from Mordo, her other disciple, where Kaecilius was, she notified him of what she knew and that they needed to stop him from carrying it out.

She tried to imagine what would cause Kaecilius to do such a thing, she never would've guessed that when she had put out the order to not interfere with what was happening in the world, that her disciple had taken it as she feared the UNSC and Adam.

Kaecilius had taken Adam as a conquerer, he had watched as many countries were economically suffering.

He took it as a purposely crafted plan to bring the world under his control completely, he had brought this up many times to the Ancient One who had dismissed his concerns each time since she knew the truth. But Kaecilius took it as her afraid to step in, he saw her as a hypocrite.

Kaecilius, like his teacher, also knew Adam was not from this dimension, he was her disciple after all, so he was near her most times, so he was aware of Adam arriving with the Infinity.

He had already begun to become disillusioned to her teachings, he had joined Kamar-Taj to seek answers, he was looking for the meaning to his wife and son's tragic deaths, or even for a way to possibly bring them back to life so they would be reunited.

Kaecilius and his wife, Adria, had lived a relatively happy life, even dealing with the death of their son together, when most couples fail when such an event occurs, they grew stronger and closer. One day she fell terribly sick, no matter what he did he couldn't save her, this broke him.

He was eventually found by Mordo and brought to Kamar-Taj, he excelled greatly in learning magic, he even became a direct disciple to Ancient One alongside Mordo and began to train new sorcerers, however he was also very strict and harsh in his training of others.

After twenty years of teachings he felt he was no closer to finding the answers he was seeking, each time he brought this up to Ancient One she always gave the same response.

"In order to fulfill what you seek to accomplish, you would need to tap into forces beyond your mastery to withstand. As to the meaning of their deaths, the only meaning death has, is to give life meaning itself. You know death comes eventually, that our time is short, so death drives life. Cherishing life, the time you spent with them, good and bad memories, that is the meaning of death, no more and no less."

This was why Ancient One wouldn't have minded it had Adam only target herself and Kaecilius, but to have the complete destruction of Kamar-Taj was definitely not something she was okay with.

The Sanctums weren't just there for show, they were defensive buildings that protected the realm from outside attacks. If the Sanctums were destroyed, Earth could easily be invaded by many of the entities from other dimensions, many of whom actively look for ways to invade on a daily and even hourly occurrence at times.

While Ancient One and Mordo were heading to stop Kaecilius from making a large mistake and soon discovered the librarian's headless corpse, his head was placed where the Darkhold used to be, as their search began to stop Kaecilius, in Asgard, Thor was dealing with his own troubles.

He was currently in a heated discussion with Odin, his father, in regards to him continuously going to Earth rather than improving beyond the use of Mjolnir, Thor's hammer.

Odin felt the Earth was a distraction for Thor, he also didn't like Adam very much. Like Ancient One, Odin has kept an eye on Adam. Although he didn't know as much as Ancient One, he did see enough to know certain things. Odin was very knowledgeable, he had traveled all the realms, had seen and experienced many things in his long life.

He knew Adam wasn't from this universe, but like Ancient One, he knew Adam wasn't from one of the Dark Universes or Dimensions. He still did see Adam as a potential threat however, he had seen the technology of Adam and his ships, able to travel using something similar to the Bifrost but faster.

It wasn't that Odin hated humans, he just found them insignificant. They had short lives, so even if you found a strong human, their life would be over before they could do any significant damage to the realm he protected.

Odin had seen it many times, like Thor and many others, he had traveled to Earth and been worshipped as a god by its inhabitants who called themselves Vikings. He had seen many powerful human warriors grow, and in a blink of an eye die of old age if not on the battlefield.

This was the man reason he didn't approve of Thor being in a relationship with Jane, he didn't want his son to suffer a fate that can be worse than death, watching someone you love grow old and die while you remain young and powerless to stop it.

Even if Jane could live for 500 years, that would just be a light nap to even the weakest Asgardian.

"Father, I didn't come to ask for your permission," Thor stated as he held a large bucket of KFC fried chicken and was munching on a chicken breast vigorously, "I would prefer your blessing but Midgard food is fantastic, their alcohol is great tasting, even if it isn't as strong as ours, but it is flavorful. Besides I think she is the one, plus she pays for my online activities, you know there is this game they have that allows you to vanquish foes online! I find it enjoyable to battle in this online world." Thor commented, he wanted to share the many joys he had found on the Earth.

Asgard, although rich and powerful, didn't have much in the entertainment industry, beside duals and various tournaments of strength, singing, dancing and music, that was pretty much it.

So when Thor had learned of the diversity of foods and entertainment the Earth offered, as well as finding his second love, it's obvious who his first love was, he grabbed on with both hands.

His physical training slowly turned into food and gaming binges, Jane was very busy with work which left Thor by himself most times, so she had bought him a computer as well as a few gaming systems so he could occupy himself while she worked.

Thor wasn't much help to her, but unlike in the movies, she wasn't as stressed as before, UNSC technology and paycheck had brought her a new found happiness, thus she didn't have the same worries as she did before.

Long life, financial backing, and no boss or investor breathing down her neck. Her self confidence was higher, not weighed down by the struggles which caused her to end her relationship with Thor previously.

"You can not wed her, bed her and be done, you are the future King of Asgard, you must find a wife worthy to be its Queen. Even if this Jane is worthy now, what happens in 100 years or even 50. You still are not ready for what truly comes after I am no more, Midgard is a distraction." Odin furiously answered, he knew what would happen upon his death.

A reckoning that Thor is completely ill-prepared for, the demons of Odin's past, one made by his own hands, will come for payment of a debt. One who would not only kill many Asgardians in revenge, but would also bring Asgard back into its old era, the era of conquest for Asgard.

Hela, the first born daughter of Odin, in the MCU version we are not told who the mother is exactly, only that Frigga isn't her mother.

In the comics she was actually Loki's daughter, her mother was a giantess sorcerer named Angrboda, upon coming of age, she was taken in by Odin and given rule over Hel and Niflheim and named Goddess of Death, that was her only connection to Odin.

In the MCU she was Odin's first born daughter and the personal executioner for Odin, as well as leading the Einherjar which was the main army of Asgard. She waged wars alongside her father, wielding Mjolnir and her own Necrosword's, mounted on her giant wolf Fenris, they brought all nine realms under Asgardian rule.

After conquering the nine realms, Odin felt peace was the better solution to maintaing order rather than constant war, this had put a hamper on Hela's plans that went beyond Yggdrasil, the nine realms, she wanted to wage a wider war on other worlds to expand Asgard further.

This brought Father and Daughter at odds, soon erupting into a civil war, Hela tried to stage a coup and forcibly take the throne. Odin was able to subdue her in the end, unable to kill his own daughter, he banished her to Hel, since she wanted to rule, he banished her to rule Hel for eternity.

To ensure she couldn't escape to once again seize power over Asgard, Odin used his life force to bind her to Hel, trapping her within Hel for as long as he was alive.

Odin knew just how ruthless of a person she was, he made her that way after all, she had killed many Asgardians, including all but one Valkyrie, Brunnhilde who was thought to be dead but rather was the one any only survivor after they had fought Hela to keep her trapped in Hel.

"What is this matter that you speak of? I will show you just how formidable I have become, tell me of this matter and I and my team of new friends shall handle it, I am the leader of the Avengers after all." Thor said as he threw the bones of the chicken breast he had just finished and summoned his hammer and UNSC communicator into both hands, after placing the bucket of chicken down.

Just as Odin was about to respond, a massive explosion was heard and the royal hall shook violently, which took both men by surprise. Looking out towards the source of the noise, they saw a large black and red ship falling to the ground, Heimdall leaping off the ship back onto the rainbow bridge as the ship descended.

Suddenly a large number of the same style ships began to de-cloak and began firing at Asgard. Asgard was being invaded.
