"When I heard that our previous forces where defeated by this fort I thought it was a big encampment but its just a tiny fraction of what I imagined. Surely there can barely be more than a thousand soldiers in there."
The big ogre general grinned gruesomely while his armies looked at the walls of the elven camp they were about to attack.
"Yes my lord, it seems the deterrent was a dark elf who uses arcane mystic arts."
One of his retainers answered.
"You mean might ogres have been reduced to weaklings who falter under the might of elves and even worse dark elves?"
He asked but his belligerent sneer showed that he was looking forward for the challenge he was about to face at the hands if the said dark elf ultimate weapon.
"NOW LISTEN HERE MEN, WE ARE MARCHING FORWARD AND BY THE BREAK OF DAWN TOMORROW WE WOULD BE RETURNING HOME GLORIOUSLY AFTER WIPING OUT EACH AND EVERY ELF IN OUR WAY."
He shouted and the rest of the soldiers yelled and started bashing their shield and weapons.
While all of this was happening Samora was standing on the tallest watch tower with the Lord Geswald and a few standing army commanders looking at the army of a thousand that was about to attack.
"What a monster? Even from this far I can feel his bloodthirsty aura."
The experienced Geswald commented on The elven General.
"Indeed but our fort must not fall this day or any other day, it is not in our proud nature to yield to barbarians, generals go prepare your man."
Samora issued a command and they all left but even she could tell how scared they were.
(Who could blame them, he really is a monster.)
Samora without a doubt was now the most powerful individual in the fort but she could not see any possibility of her surviving a confrontation with the demon eater.
"Lord Geswald."
Samora spoke when they were now alone.
"Yes princess."
"You do not have to call me that now____ anyway if the two of us faced him what are our chances of winning?"
"Out of ten I would say we would win six times but even if we win we would be too weak to face the rest of the army and our soldiers would fall against the overwhelming army."
Samora knew that was true, over the years despite being forced to tarry in thus fort no reinforcements had been sent and their numbers decreased with each battle now only a little over nine hundred soldiers remained and most were battle haggard.
Use me like a weapon if it is to serve you I do not mind
"Arggh_____"
She gulped and winced at that memory.
"Princess? What is wrong?"
"N-Nothing I need to prepare for battle please excuse me."
She hurriedly left.
Drop drop drop.
As she hurried away from the old elven warrior, she was shocked when she realised she was crying, she did not understand why now in her time of greatest need she remembered his words.
"Even in death you do not want to grant me peace."
She looked at the sky and murmured before continuing to her quarters to get ready. She told one of the female attendants stationed to guard her to summon Lucinda for her.
"Princess you summoned me."
The young elf bowed to her.
"You can raise your head Lucinda."
"Thank you."
The two afterwards spent some time in heavy silence which was increasingly becoming awkward.
"Lucinda, I would like you to leave this fort."
Samora finally broke the silence.
"Princess?"
The confusion on Lucinda's face was as plane as day.
"This place is about to be a battlefield and our chances of victory are very slim, I would like you to leave at once. I will give you an escort because we cannot spare anymore and I would like you to head to the village of Everglase in the territory of the Lady Mireles. I am sure you will be safe once you reach it."
"Ermm princess?"
"Yes."
"Is that an order?"
"Hmm?"
"The plan for me to depart from here is it an order? Because I would like to remain here with you I know I am weak but I believe my healing abilities can be useful especially in this fight."
Samora was again reminded of how pure of heart this little elf was.
(I guess I should stop treating her like a child, she really has become dependable however____)
"Yes Lucinda, this is an order you are to make sure you survive and make sure to tell Lady Mireles of what happened."
The fallen princess' voice was firmer than before.
"I understand."
Lucinda bowed and left.
(Now then, I guess its time.)
She wore her armour and equipped herself with her enchanted daggers and left for the battlefield.
