"What the child of man speaks has wisdom I for one think it is truly wise to do as he says, nothing good breeds from war, we lose our children and families, our forest will be burnt and the land hurt already as it is the earth weeps, many of its trees, creatures have been casualties of this war."
Mireles spoke with a firm tone and this time strangely everyone listened elves were after all entities who relied on nature loving it with their whole being so causing unnecessary harm to it was something they truly wanted to avoid at all costs.
The Lord Saravoya and quite a number of others seemed dissatisfied by the outcome.
(So these Lords, to keep their wealth, influence and status they will incite war. How pathetic.) Karlmine had long realised that, war meant weapons and armies and these two meant taxes would be raised and collected. Not only that but people would gather around those in power entrusting their lives to them thus giving them more authority which was the end goal for all these elven Lords.
The council dismissed, they agreed not to attack which Heilis still felt was a huge surprise but they also promised to unleash all their armies should the ogres attack first or show any signs of hostility. Another thing they did agree to give him thirty elven soldiers to make his unit.
As the others were filing out his mind was attacked by a strange sensation then
It is indeed a pleasure to meet you in person heir of the lion. Please remain accompany me a little while longer if you do not mind the trouble there is something I want to discuss with you.
Without a doubt what was sounding directly in his head was the voice of Mireles Saravoya, he turned to her to confirm if it was her and she affirmed by nodding. Among the elves so far she was the one who acted like the ideal elven image Karlmine had when he first met the princess in the woods.
The others frowned slightly but left. The room was quiet for a while which would be awkward for a normal person but Karlmine just sat waiting for the elven lady to speak.
"I thank the stars, the earth, and fate that I have the pleasure of meeting you in person Master Regulus. First allow me to express my gratitude on saving my child many full moons ago."
Karlmine's gaze fell on the back of the head of the elegant lady who was bowing to him.
"Please raise your head my lady your words did suffice."
"Polite, considerate and honourable quite the collection of noble attributes you possess Master Regulus it is beginning to dawn on me why my daughter unruly as she is would be drawn to you."
Mireles smiled and her eyes twinkled as she did so which was extremely beautiful, she head the presence of a full moon, radiant, beautiful, serene and calming.
"If you permit me my lady allow me to ask what it is that you desire to discuss with me?"
"Many centuries, decades and innumerable years I have walked this land but never before have I met one like you Master Regulus."
She begun her response with an exaggerated approach but Karlmine realised that if there was anyone in the entire elven fort who had any idea of what had happened to him and why he was not dead it would be this lady. Staring in his pearly eyes Karlmine felt like her gaze reached even to his very soul.
"And what I pray tell is it that intrigues you about me even the tiniest detail will be welcomed and much appreciated as I am sure you are well aware that my memories are not known to me."
"How unfortunate, I was hoping you would shed some light into it too for it was because of you that I pressured my husband to make the journey here."
"I am sorry I seem to have missed something but you came for me? Why?"
"You see Master Regulus, I have been blessed or cursed with Cognition as such I tend to see a little too much for my own good. I was alone a few weeks past singing with the birds and listening to the trees speaking when a revelation came to me."
"A revelation?"
"Indeed, first let me tell you a story. Eons ago when the earth was still young the Empyreans lorded over the world and legends say it that it was from them that all that creeps, crawls, slithers and walks the earth was born. The world lived in harmony and in peace all the races living together but a Dark Lord arose, blessed with the might wielded only by the Empyreans he plunged the world into chaos and led his army of monsters and demons into the world and slaughtering all who opposed him but the races united and by the sacrifice of many the Dark Lord was defeated and slain."
"…"
Karlmine remained quiet but attentive waiting for Lady Mireles to tell him why she had just told him that particular story. His memories where fuzzy but he had a vague feeling he was somewhat familiar with that story.
"My young mortal the revelation that came to me warned of the birth of another Dark Lord who shall herald the end of the elven kingdom."
"What? How?"
"The vision made mention of an abominable creature born of man but not a man, a creature with blue eyes rising from the sea tides with a breath that caused storms and hurricanes. That creature was a violent storm, it was a thundering cloud, it was a raging sea and above all it was a freezing furnace. I was still confused by what I saw but then a few days after that I received a premonition, it said when he who was dead walks the earth then the land shall be plunged into chaos and the living shall fill the graves."
Karlmine listened without interrupting her, what she said made no sense to him and it was clear it hardly made any sense to her too but it was also clear that he was somehow embroiled in a very dangerous situation.
"The knowledge is much appreciated my lady but if I may ask why did you choose to tell me of this first seeing as I might be your foe?"
The question was not weird seeing as this information was dangerous, actually it would have been normal if she had told the others of this news.
"And why do you assume that I have not divulged this revelation to none other but yourself?"
The question was asked out of interest.
"Because my lady if you had I would have been thrown into prison or sentenced to death already with all due respect your honorable husband is that kind of man."
With people like Lord Saravoya and the others around that would be the most obvious action and Mireles had withheld because of precisely that fact. To them Karlmine was a ghost and a feared one at that couple it with this premonition the elves were bound to have acted violently but the information had been kept from them. But why?
"That is correct my child, there are two reasons that influenced my actions, first I owe you a life debt for saving my precious daughter and the other reason is after witnessing you fighting against taking arms in favor of peace I realised that you were a pure soul."
"I appreciate the praise but from what I hear before losing my memories I was infamous for the bloodshed I caused."
"And yet you saved my daughter, heed me child I am not saying I am on your side nor am I saying I am against you. I have no idea why the earth mother showed me such a thing and it is possible I might be wrong about you but my intuition tells me that it would be beneficiary for our kingdom to be your ally than to be your foe."
"For an elven lady you speak surprising things and peculiar is your character my lady, not many are this open to the other races and much less a mortal."
"It is in our nature my young mortal but a few years back I met another mortal who changed my mind of you short lived creatures."
She smiled tenderly then got up.
"Without wasting any more of your time allow me to excuse myself the night is growing old soon it shall die and the day shall begin until then get some rest."
She bowed, Karlmine blinked and she was gone, her presence could no longer be felt.
