The pale moonlight is quartering upon Cyril, reflecting his long ashy blond hair and deep green eyes.
Namen could see Cyril's angelic beauty and thought that Cyril could be the most beautiful woman in the world if he was a woman.
And he could see how his features differed from his parents. Namen gives out a big grin before starting to speak again.
"You got lucky that you're the son of Ruben...Wait are you? I thought Ruben was only 34 years old and I can't believe he has an 18-year-old son. I heard that Ruben got married when he was 20. And I also heard that he adopted a child before his marriage" Duke Namen said with a smug grin.
Cyril almost lost his temper and threw his dagger at Namen. But he tried to control it. However, Namen is right. He never thought about it but it makes sense.
"That made you adopted son, Isn't it," Namen asked as Cyril wasn't answering him.
Cyril was a bit upset to learn about the truth but he just smiled.
"Well, at least I got this title with my efforts unlike you" Cyril roasted.
This unexpected sarcasm hit right through Duke Namen. He indeed got this title through some extra gifts to the king when he was younger.
"Please may I request you to leave because I'm about to rest," Cyril asked softly when he saw the Duke wasn't responding.
Cyril politely opens the door for Namen.
"I promise you'll pay for it soon," Namen said almost exclaiming before he went out of the room.
"Be careful lord Namen. And I wish you a good night's sleep, sir" Cyril said with a smile before he he slam the door to Namen's face.
Namen was more than furious to know that his last cath couldn't move Cyril, not even a little bit.
As soon as the door closed, Cyril let out a sigh of frustration. He sat down on his chair and rubbed his forehead to calm himself. He didn't want to talk to anybody. He wanted to be alone and away from everybody.
If he is adopted, then who are his real parents? Where are they? What are they doing? Are they still alive? Why did they give him away like this? He can't stop thinking about these questions. His brain won't shut off from all the things about his life.
And he needs something to occupy himself. Anything to do. The only person who can answer all these questions is his father, Ruben.
Cyril quickly grabbed his cloak and jumped out of his window. He was leading to the stable.
He quietly chose a horse and started glopping toward the Van De Veld's castle where Ruben would be.
When he arrived at the Van de Veld Castle, it was already midnight and there were not any servants around. He sighed before he approached the stables.
Cyril could see the stable keeper, a little boy, sleeping peacefully in front of the entrance. It must have been a tough day for him.
Maybe he's been up all day tending to horses. Cyril put the horse carefully so as not to wake the boy up. He turned his back and left as quickly as he came.
Cyril returned to the main gate and sneaked into the castle. There were some guards around but nobody noticed him.
Cyril was a bit disappointed to know how easy it was to sneak into his family's castle. He was thinking about punishing the guards for their carelessness.
Before he could finish his thoughts, he hurriedly hid in a corner as he heard footsteps. But as soon as he hid there, he could feel a cold blade near his throat.
He was about to turn around to see who was daring enough to direct a sword at him.
"Brother?!"
It was...Eline, his sister.
"What are you doing here" Eline questioned as she wasn't expecting to see Cyril here.
"Oh, I'm here to see Father, is he here?"
Eline gives Cyril a suspicious gaze.
"Don't you know that he's staying the night at the royal palace to drink with the King tonight?"
"Ugh, I didn't know that..."
"Wait, how come you are not in bed at this hour, Eline?"
"I don't like the security system of the castle. We have very careless guards. I saw a shadow around the main gate. So I was here looking for the invadator. It turns out to be you"
"Hey, this is my home!"
"Not anymore, you already moved to the palace"
"Hahaha, anyway good job Eline, I thought I was too good at invading my own castle"
Eline laughed along with him.
"So, is Mother here?"
"Yeah, she is. But I don't know if she's asleep now"
"Alright, now young lady, go to bed. I will go meet Mother and then I will go back"
"Alright, good night, brother"
"Good night, Eline"
After saying good night to Eline, Cyril approached their parent's room.
"Mother, It's me, Cyril. Are you awake?" Cyril asked softly knocking on the door.
"My child, Wait there, I'll come out" Lady Britt answered at once.
Cyril waited there for a few minutes before Lady Britt came out.
"Are you okay, what happened, my Cyril? I'm so worried" Lady Britt stated as soon as she opened the door and saw Cyril's face.
"What is the matter? Why did you come all the way here?"
"I'm okay, mother. I'm just here to ask a few questions that have been bothering me for a while. Can you spare me a moment?" Cyril requested humbly.
"Yes, dear, come let's talk in the tearoom"
Cyril and Lady Britt sat down opposite to each other.
"What are your questions, son? Mother will answer everything "
Cyril looked up to see the graceful face of his mother. Words couldn't come out of his lips. Whether this lady in front of him if his real mother or not, he could clearly see the worries written all over her face.
Cyril smiles as he thinks about the things Lady Britt and Duke Ruben did for him. Things like always being there for him, and always trying to give him the best of all. Cyril shook his head as he realized their deep love for him. At this moment, if he is adopted or not, nothing else matters to him. The thing is that they love him as their own child.
"Actually, I have no more questions Mother, thank you" Cyril answered softly as he smiled at his mother.
He then left after paying deep respect to his mother.
