Chapter 15 - Her new life

A few hours later.

**

With a twitched brow, Ava groaned softly as she opened her eyes, only to find herself lying on the floor with a picture frame by her right hand.

"Ouch. My head." She winced softly, with her eyes shut again. "Damn." She muttered before attempting to sit up.

Unlike the other time, Ava remembered all that recently happened. But it didn't mean she wasn't startled upon seeing a red butterfly mark on her shoulder, the spot where she felt the sharp pain.

Suddenly, tears began to stream down Ava's face. She felt an overwhelming sense of pain both physically and emotionally, and it was becoming too much for her to bear.

Why was she being punished like this? The pain, seizures, amnesia, and life-threatening events were too much to bear. She longed for her quiet, lonely, and sad life instead of the turmoil she was experiencing now.

Ava couldn't even bring herself to ask why and how the butterfly mark appeared on her shoulders. That would be pointless, and a total waste of time.

What did she do to deserve the turn of events?! This unfair world!

Exhaling deeply, Ava managed to stand to her feet. She still had the other rooms to check out—if there were any.

With that in mind, she threw a glance at the sofa where she tossed the phone, before deciding to take it with her.

Just as she bent to pick it, she felt a sharp pain in her shoulder. Glancing at it, Ava saw that the butterfly mark had disappeared.

She then stood straight and facepalmed, attempting to stop the tears that threatened to stream down her face again.

Exhaling through her lips, "You got this. Okay? You got this." Ava reassured herself, just before she bent a little and picked the phone.

Scanning the room, her eyes fell upon a door that she thought might lead to the other rooms. She couldn't see any other doors besides the one that led outside. So she walked over to the door and twisted the knob before pushing it open.

Standing by the door, Ava could see the kitchen which was open, and another door she suspected led to the room.

Ava took slow steps to the room and stood by the door, surveying its aesthetics and decor.

She observed the bedroom exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere, with soft pastel colours and floral patterns adorning the walls and bedding. With a plush rug atop gleaming hardwood floors, while sheer curtains filter in natural light, it casted a gentle glow over the space.

A tufted headboard and delicate chandelier add a touch of elegance, while a vintage vanity and dainty accent pieces complete the charming and feminine aesthetic. The cosy bed, piled high with pillows and blankets, beckons one to snuggle up and relax in comfort.

Her dream bedroom! Warm, cozy, but ladylike.

Undeterred, she searched the entire room thoroughly for any clue that might help her, but once again, came up empty-handed.

Exasperated, she let out a deep groan and yanked a fistful of hair in frustration, as if trying to physically pull out the source of her irritation.

"Calm down Ava. Calm down." She muttered under her breath, just before her stomach rumbled, reminding her she was yet to fill it up.

Sighing, Ava left for the kitchen, after shutting the door behind her. When Ava got there, she paused her steps abruptly in surprise. The kitchen was her definition of perfect.

Well, not so perfect, since the fridge was empty. For a foodie like Ava, food made her world go round.

'But how and where can I get that?' she mused inwardly. Yes she was in the worst conditions, but it didn't mean she had no space for food. Besides, her stomach had been pinging her for hours. She needed food after the long day.

"Is it even real food?" Ava thought aloud.

"It's fake. Please don't eat." Keys replied.

"I wasn't talking to you." Ava blurted.

"I know." Keys answered.

"I mean, why should I? When you've proven to be useless." Ava added with indifference.

"I am not." Keys stated.

"Oh yeah? Then tell me." Ava said before folding her arms, after placing her phone on the dried sink. "How and where do I get something to eat?" She asked, hoping Keys helps her out this time.

"It is very unwise of you to devise this, as a means to get the answer to your questions, and fulfil your needs." Keys replied, while Ava simply rolled her eyes.

"Useless thing." Ava cussed under her breath, while Keys kept mute this time.

After a while, Ava, who didn't know how best to ask for help from Keys, stood silent, pretending to be lost in thoughts. For the first time, she hoped Keys could see.

"I wonder where I'll get the money to purchase what I need, so I can map out my escape route." Ava said, like she was thinking out loud.

"Assuming that was thrown at me, I advise you to properly search the only mini drawer in this room." Keys answered

"Yeah, whatever." Ava replied, before leaving for the bedroom.

When she got there, she confirmed bundles of Stellars was lying inside the drawer, which was strange and a little scary, considering she literally left every stone unturned.

"Ugh...my life."
