Swoosh! A deadly black scythe above the unicorn fell towards it. The desperate unicorn used almost all of its energy to summon a barrier and block the scythe. But its efforts were in vain. With a swift and deadly swish, the scythe shattered the barrier and was about to strike the unicorn. Despair filled the unicorn's eyes, transforming into rage. The unicorn began to glow with a dark hue, which turned into black fire, consuming its blood and energy. In its final moments, the unicorn cast a powerful illusion to attack the dragon-like creature. Ghosts howled, undead moaned, and malevolent entities emerged within the illusion, all seeking to kill the creature. Exhausted from its previous attack, the dragon-like creature could not resist and was heavily injured by the illusions before the domain disappeared. Unfortunately, the unicorn, having cast its final attack, was beheaded by the scythe.
Thomp! The sound of the unicorn's head hitting the ground echoed through the clearing. The sky darkened, and the winds howled as if mourning the loss of the Cursed Unicorn. Matthew carefully surveyed the surroundings and realized that the dragon-like creature had fainted and the unicorn had perished. Thoughts raced through Matthew's mind as he contemplated how to kill the dragon-like creature and claim its treasures.
Matthew cautiously approached the two enormous beasts. However, as soon as he entered a 300-meter radius around them, he encountered strong resistance and felt himself being corrupted by a blackish energy. Fearful, Matthew quickly retreated, taking a moment to consider his next plan. After pondering for a while, he made a decision. But before executing his plan, he charged up his energy, preparing to defend himself and escape if necessary.
Carefully, Matthew began digging the ground near the 300-meter radius, creating a tunnel towards the invisible barrier. Theoretically, this should allow him to bypass the domain, as he felt that the resistance extended only a few inches below the surface. After digging for a while, the moment of truth arrived. Slowly, Matthew utilized his ability to dig a hole underground, this time targeting the barrier area. As his energy surged and the earth seemed to shift, a hole gradually materialized.
"Yes, let's go!" thought Matthew, elated by his success. After digging for a considerable time, Matthew finally managed to break through and emerged on the other side. Upon emerging, Matthew realized the immense terror emanating from the two colossal beasts. The residual darkness from their attacks was extremely lethal, requiring him to remain alert at all times to avoid corruption.
Advancing cautiously towards the two gigantic creatures, Matthew observed the dragon-like creature, which lay unconscious. Knowing that the creature might sense him and try to kill him after he took the precious items from the unicorn, Matthew understood that he had to eliminate the dragon-like creature. Gathering a huge chunk of his energy, he cast a concentrated beam of wind with great power.
Boom! The beam of wind collided with the creature's scales and... disappeared. It was as if nothing had happened. Seeing his attack fail, Matthew grew frustrated and used his ability once again. Whoosh, disappear. Overwhelmed with frustration, Matthew launched more attacks at the dragon-like creature before ultimately giving up, having depleted more than half of his energy.
"Why are this creature's scales and flesh so resilient?" Matthew panted as he recovered. "Oh well, I'll just take the unicorn's mana core and horn then." Realizing that he wouldn't be able to kill the dragon-like creature, Matthew decided to claim the unicorn's mana core and horn. It was widely known that unicorns had weak defenses, which explained why the dragon-like creature had dispatched the unicorn so swiftly. Using his ability once more, Matthew managed to slice through the unicorn's flesh and obtain its mana core. Unlike humans who possessed mana stones, gems, or even planets, beasts solely had mana cores to provide them with energy. The only way for beasts to advance was to purify the mana within their cores. If a human acquired a mana core, they could use the refined mana inside to aid meditation and increase the growth of their own mana. After securing the mana core, Matthew also took the unicorn's horn.
Unicorn horns were incredibly potent, often serving as the source of numerous powerful abilities and attacks utilized by the unicorn. Moreover, their horns were renowned for their toughness, making them highly coveted by formidable individuals who sought to employ them as surprise weapons against enemies. After obtaining the horn and mana core, Matthew noticed the dragon-like creature stirring. He swiftly stood up and left. Shortly after his departure, an enraged roar tore through the sky where the dragon-like creature lay, gazing at the lifeless unicorn, which had lost its mana core and horn. Consumed by fury, the dragon-like creature unleashed destruction upon the area, seeking the culprit. Meanwhile, Matthew continued his venture through the rainforest, oblivious to the calamity he had inadvertently unleashed upon the inhabitants of the clearing where the two colossal beasts had clashed.
