Chapter 14 - Confrontation, Meeting with the First Elder

"Woah," raising his hands up Matthew steadily said to the five angry men, "I mean no harm, I'm a adventurer who's lost in the Corrupted Rainforest."

Looking suspiciously, still wary, one of the five men, possibly the leader said to him, "You've found our secret village, so we can't let you leave without you promising to tell nobody about our village as well as signing a magical contract and if you don't then...".The five men then started emitting magical currents, as if if Matthew didn't comply they'd destroy him.

Although unpleased with the treatment, Matthew thought that since his goal was to complete the trials he should go to the village anyway, and following these men wouldn't hurt.

"Alright," said Matthew, "Show me the way then." Still looking fierecely at Matthew, the five men slowly escorted him towards one of the more big cottages in the village.

Soon, they arrived in front of the cottage, "Stay here," said the same man again, before leaving his companions to knock on the door.

"What is it?" said an old voice from behind the door, the ground trembled as the sound reverberated seemingly signaling towards the strength of the owner of the voice behind the door.

"First Elder, an traveler has allegedly "accidentally" stumbled across our village, and I believe that it is in the best interests of the village to make him swear a binding oath to not disclose of the village's locations, so I'm here to ask for your help since you, Elder, have the highest magical prowess in the village," said the man in a lowly voice.

"Very well," said the voice before the doors to the cottage opened revealingly what seemed to be an regular old man behind it.

"Come in," he said, "You five stand guard at the door, you young man follow me." The old man then turned around and Matthew quickly followed suit, after moving down what seemed to be an infinitely long corridor inside the cottage, they suddenly appeared infront of a grand door, one who's size did not seem to match the one of the cottage that Matthew had seen outside.

Opening the door with a wave, the old man entered what seemed to be a meditating room, complete with an altar at the center where a mana crystal of great size was situated gathering.

Beside the altar were 4 seating cushions, gesturing Matthew to sit on one of the cushions the old man then sat on one of the cushions.

"So young man let's talk," said the old man before looking towards Matthew with a set of piercing eyes.
