"Kurtis, put your shoes away!" "Ok mom." I say as I run down the stairs. As I grab my shoes I see the boy across the lake enter his house with a bag filled to the brim with strange objects that I couldn't quite make out from my side of the lake. I stare for a second but I shake it off. I head back upstairs to put my shoes away and grab my longboard. I was going down to the beach with my friends that day. "Mom, I'm leaving now! "Okay honey, see you later!" As I run out the door I see the boy again except this time his bag seems to be empty and he has a skateboard in hand. Maybe he would like to skate with me and my friends? I'll ask another day, I decide. "Shoot, I'm late!" I dash down the street but for some reason my feet bring me right in front of the boy from across the lake. Crap. I stare at him, straight into his shimmering, watercolor, ocean blue eyes. His blonde curls (which reminds me of the beach sand!) blow in the wind as we stand there. He's about the same height as me and is extremely cute. Shoot, I think as I realize how close I am to him. I back up fast.
"...Um, hello? Can I help you?"
"Uh…" I stand there idly, my mind racing, desperately grasping at what to say. At last, the words come out. "Hi, I live across the lake in the large light blue house."
"Hey." He says, still a bit startled.
"I saw your skateboard and thought that maybe you'd like to come skateboard with me and my friends?" I propose the idea, and he appears thoughtful.
"Sure!" He replies.
