Chapter 31 - Customization 5: Traits and bad references

(This is literally all I have right now, and it's from last week. I spent the entire time trying to come up with skills which wasn't hard...at first. And now I have writer's block, so yeah. I'll try to get some chapters out but no promises.)

After picking her tail, a new prompt appeared.

{To complete the body, give your new form a name and height.}

[Name: ]

[Height: ]

Lillith instantly set the height to just above her original, 5.7 Once her height was taken care of, she pondered what her new name would be, and then it hit her. She'd use the name she used in every game, Illy. She'd gotten this name one day by mistyping her childhood nickname, Lilly. She thought it was funny, and it just kinda stuck.

{Conform?}

 [Y/N]

As Lillith confirmed, she was brought back to the first panel she saw.

{customization}

[Magic/skills]

[Status]

[Other]

She didn't really know what to do next, so she went with the next option. As she picked the category, the panel completely disappeared, and a big book appeared. "A book? What in the hell?" As she was questioning the book, it opened on its own. The book opened to a blank page. Lillith sat there, staring at the blank page for a few seconds before it started to fill in with text.

{Your current trait is [Seductive Sadist: gives the title Dominator, boosts all communication stats, and makes it easier to learn skills rooted in said stats]. You have two free chances to pull a different trait.}

Lillith began to open her mouth to say something before more text began to appear.

{Traits: Traits are a personal ability all the people of Aethercrest are born with that reflect the person's personality or mentality. Every trait is different, and no two people can have the same trait at the same time. Traits can give skills, titles, and stat boosts, some traits even have hidden functions or abilities that have to be found out about.}

As the text continued to reveal itself, Lillith's excitement grew. She couldn't help but wonder what unique traits she might possess and how they would shape her journey in Aethercrest. With two free chances to pull a different trait, she felt a surge of anticipation and curiosity, eager to uncover the hidden abilities and unlock her true potential.

Lillith's gaze went back to her trait. "So my trait...is just me being horny. Yeah, I'm definitely going to try and get a better one." With that, a blue panel appeared in front of her.

{Eloise is watching you as you are under their jurisdiction..... welcome to the trait gacha. Would you like to pull for a trait?}

"What? Who's Eloise? You know what? I don't really care. Yes, I would like to pull." After she said yes, a new line of text began to appear in the book.

{Trait options}

[Seductive Sadist: Gives the hidden special skill tree [Dominator], boosts all communication stats, and makes it easier to learn skills rooted in said stats.]

[Klutzy genius: Boosts all stats and makes it easier to learn skills rooted in intelligence like magic, but slightly drops physical stats and makes it harder to learn skills rooted in said stats like martial arts.]

Reading what her new option was made Lillith smile. "Wow, this is great, but not what I'm looking for. Pull again." As she finished, a new row of text started to appear—just a little side note. Lillith had a gacha game addiction; she had spent almost $600 on a game with an emergency food sidekick just to get a weapon. You don't want to know how much she spent on the character that went with it.

[Timid virtuoso: Boosts all physical stats and makes it easier to learn skills rooted in said stats and gives the [Charmer] skill tree; slightly drops all communication stats and makes it harder to learn skills related to siad stats.]

Lillith sighed. "Another good one, but it's still not what I'm looking for. Pull ag-" As she was about to pull for another trait, a message appeared in front of her.

{If you keep this up, you'll run out of points. Would you care for a conversation? I'll give you some gifts that might be of use to you.}

"What do you get out of it?"

{I just want to meet the one my little sister fancies enough to try to get the whole pantheon to bless, knowing that there might be backlash for her love of a mortal. You know just simple stuff.}

Lillith stared at the message, thinking about whether she should accept it. "Sure, why not? Let's have a conversation. You've already blessed me, meaning you don't hate the idea of Lunaire and me." As she finished the panel in front of her, it stretched and expanded, and then a beautiful woman walked out of it. She had long hair that faded from a chestnut brown to an auburn. Her dress was cute and frilly, but also fancy and gave her an aura of authority. She sat across from Lillith and stared at her with the orbs of sapphire that were her eyes.

"Hello, Mr. Eloise." The woman, or, should I say, man, smiled. "How'd you know? I thought it was pretty convincing. I mean, it worked on R.I.K.A." Hearing Rika's name, Lillith stood up immediately and leaned in to look Eloise in the eyes. "Rika!? You've seen Rika? Where is she? Is she okay? Can I see her?" Eloise just smiled. "Yes, she's fine; actually, I'm the one taking care of her reincarnation. Also, although she'd've liked to see you too, she can't. She got half the benefits you got, but as she's not a power-hungry psycho or got the option to be one, like a certain someone, she already finished everything and went down to Aethercrest to get a headstart, as some of her parts boost stats over time. Oh, and she wanted to train after I told her about the monster you were creating."

"Wait, some of them do that? I mean, I know about how some boost passive mana absorption, but I didn't know they could boost other stats." Lillith began to sit back down and compose herself. "Well, of course, you wouldn't; she found that out after I gave her a gift. One of the gifts I'll be giving to you, the skill [Hidden Factor]." As he said the name, a window appeared in front of Lillith.

[Hidden Factor: Reveals all hidden attributes and can reveal hidden skills. Can be used on items.]

"Both of you will have this skill, along with a few others. I also made a few personal skills for her. Don't think I'm playing favorites; I do this for every soul I deal with...unless they're just the worst. I made you a few skills as well, and since I'm nice, they won't take up any skill slots. You'll understand what I mean when you get to that part. But I can't just give you everything, so I made some skills you have to pay for; even if they don't take slots, they'll be a little expensive. Oh, and before you ask for all skills, you'll have to pay to max out if they have levels."

Lillith sat there, trying to take in all the information that was just given to her, but Eloise just didn't stop talking. "One of the skills that you have in common is [Fuse]. Well, in Rika's case, since she's not a crazy rich psycho who buys everything and doesn't need it as much, it's [Merge], which is just a slightly weaker version of it." Another window appeared.

[Fuse: Allows you to combine 2 to 10 things at a time. This includes items, skills, and stats.]

"Think of it as the ability Megahand from that game in your world, Myth of Zordon: Crying Country." Lillith immediately responded. "That's not its name. It's-" Eloise cut her off. "It doesn't matter what the name is; what matters is the fact that you understand what I said, which you did. Well, anyway, I'll allow you to use it right now and only now to fuse those three traits. You'll get the best outcome possible despite not having it at max level."

Lillith nodded. "I'll do it, but why do you have the ability to make skills and talk to me? How is this your jurisdiction when I've never seen that type of message before?"

Eloise just laughed. "I'm one of the only gods who holds a title that overlaps with a system category; I'm the god of skills and traits. My title doesn't only apply to these types of skills; I also co-own artisans with my brother, mages with my cousin, warriors, and martial artists with her mom, etc. I'm sure you get the point." Lillith nodded and looked back at the book. A window was hovering above it.

{Fuse?}

[Y/N]

"Yes." As she spoke, all the text about her traits disappeared, and after a few seconds, new text replaced it.

{You've created a brand new trait; this achievement unlocked the [Fate Changer] skill tree. You've created an elite trait. [Timid Prodigy: You're shy and klutzy, making it hard for you to talk to others. Your shyness and klutzyness make others think you're cute unlocking the [Charmer] skill tree. Despite your personality, you are a prodigy at all things, whether they be physical, spiritual, or magical, boosting all stats and making it easier to learn skills rooted in those things.]}

"Oh, this is amazing, but what happened to my original trait? I don't see any remnants there." Eloise snapped his fingers, and new text began to write itself. "There we go. I've awakened [Hidden Factor] It'll always be active, whether you like it or not. To be completely honest, I would've given it to you sooner, but I never got a chance to ask my sister if I could speak with you, and since you hadn't made it here yet, I couldn't use the system to talk to you."

Lillith smiled. "Don't worry; at least I got it." She then looked at the new text.

{ The elite trait [Timid Prodigy] contains a secondary personal hidden trait called [Unexspected Sadist: The secondary trait of [Timid Prodigy] changes depending on the user, but it'll always be something you don't want others to see. The current owner has developed this trait due to their sadistic tendencies. You've unlocked the hidden special skill tree [Dominator] and a boost to all stats related to talking, convincing, or seducing. As the creator and first holder of the trait, all future holders' secondary traits will be similar to yours. As your mental abilities and will are above natural, all memories and experiences will be added to the trait, allowing future holders to have visions of how to get out of situations and possibly inherit certain skills and abilities from you or other past holders.}

Lillith's jaw dropped to the floor as she reread the text. "I-Is this your doing?" Eloise's face was calm, but his eyes were riddled with pure shock. "What are you? Do you know what you've made? You've literally just made something for everybody from that anime in your world called Your Savuire School, mixed with the ability of that bald kid with the arrow on his head." Lillith, still shocked, responded. "That's the wrong name. Also, how'd I know this would happen?"

Eloise sighed and began to leave through the distorted window he came from. "Wait, aren't you going to help me pick skills?" Eloise laughed. "No, oh, and three more things. One, I gave you three extra passive slots, one extra special passive slot, three extra active slots, and two extra special active slots. You'll still have to pay for the non-extra slots, though. Two, you shouldn't go down to Aethercrest early, like Rika; the third thing will tell you why, but instead, you should stay here for as long as possible and learn as much as you can about that world. Three, the reason I say this is because your best course of action, especially with that trait of yours, is to split your soul in two, having one half hold the data for the body while you keep all the abilities."

Lillith, confused, asked. "Why's that the best course of action? Shouldn't all of me go down so I can start getting ready for the future?" Eloise just sighed. "I was hoping I wouldn't have to tell you, but you just had to ask. Okay, you'll get some great skills for splitting and reforming your soul. Your trait will affect your personality, so just split your soul and keep your memory separate, so you can start fresh. When the time comes for your new body to awaken, merge back together with the other half, only giving it your memories and skills. This way, you can retain the knowledge and experiences of your past self while also embracing the potential for growth and change in your future. You won't need to train physically because of your trait, so mentally should be the way to go, and the best way to do that is to stay here and read and gain knowledge. Now I'm leaving. Oh, actually, there's one more thing Rika told me to tell you "Make sure you add her to your harem". Don't worry about finding her; I'll pull some strings by asking my mother to intertwine your fates."

With those words, he left, leaving Lillith to think about what he had just said. "I wasn't going to make a harem, but I guess I have to now. Thanks a lot, Rika. More work for me." Despite her outer annoyance, she was happy to know Rika was fine and she'd be able to see her again.
