A Pitiful End, A New Beginning.
Clouds gather and clamped together.
The clouds got heavier and heavier as they gradually changed colour.
The clear sky suddenly turned dark and ominous. Blots of lighting flashed one after the other.
Bright radiant light decorated the dark sky. Each bolt of lightning was terrifying followed by the roar of thunder behind it.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The violent lighting was naturally accompanied by violent gales of wind.
The wind was so strong that it could even uproot large trees. This was the mighty power of the storm.
The storm was powerful and highly vicious, lifting objects and blowing off rooftops.
On a large building atop a hill surrounded by a lush forest a stray bolt of lightning suddenly smashed into it.
The assaulted area had both its wall and furniture completely turned to charcoal.
the damage was so brutal that not even the door was spared.
On the tattered door was a small piece of partially burnt paper that luckily survived the assault.
On the paper were a few words that read "Room 226. Patient… Medical condition: Mentally disable…"
Only those were discernable the rest was burnt off.
A few metres from the door laid a corpse of person. The person had been burnt into a crisp to the point that even their own mother wouldn't recognise them.
It was a pity. This place was actually a mental hospital and a patient died in such an unfortunate way.
The heavens were cruel but even so there was no one to blame but the person's own misfortune.
…
Moments before the person died they saw a bright flash coming from their window but when they opened their eyes once more they were in an unfamiliar place.
A group of people surrounded a woman in a small clay hut. The woman had just given birth to a child.
The people surrounding her were cheerful as they welcomed the new born into the world.
Who knew that the unfortunate soul who was struck by lightning would actually be reincarnated in another world.
The heavens were merciful towards him and allowed him to live a second time.
This new world was not like earth. In this world a mortal could cultivate to immortality, wild beast could evolve into demonic beasts and plants could gain sentience and form natural treasures.
In this world the unfortunate soul could choose any path they desired and can their fate.
That is if they're lucky of course.
The woman who just gave birth was drenched in sweat but her face was beaming with happiness as she started at her child.
When the baby was born the old lady who delivered it had checked its gender and confirmed that it was a boy.
Right beside the tired woman was a rough looking man with a robust physique. This man was the woman's husband as well as the baby's father.
"Qui'er you did well." Bai Quishui met Bai Tianming's loving gaze as her pale face turned rosy.
"Don't praise me, it was all thanks to Granny Lu. Without her help our son's birth might've been complicated."
Granny Lu was the wife of the Azure village chief and had the respect of every member of the village.
Hearing the two love birds' conversation granny Lu shook her head lightly, "don't mention it. it's my job as the wife of the village chief to take care everyone."
After saying what she needed to say granny Lu left shortly after along with the crowd of people giving the couple some alone time.
Bai Quishui looked at her husband and ask," what shall we call him?"
Bai Tianming pondered for a while before coming to answering, "Syaoran. His name shall be Bai Syaoran."
With that years passed but as Bai Syaoran grew older he exhibited some odd behavor.
At the age of three he strangled a chicken to death, at 6 he was entrusted to take care of a small garden but he watered the crops with animal blood, at the age of ten he poisoned a dozen sheep and fed them to the wolves, at the age of 13 he slaughtered the neighbor's chicken pen in the middle of the night.
At the age of 14 he was finally recognised as a man in the village but none of the villagers where fond of him.
Because of his bizarre actions Bai Syaoran was boycotted by all the children in the village isolating him. In his isolation Bai Syaoran would chase the cattle around the village whenever he had spare time.
The adults thought that he was retarded and since he was constantly causing trouble they too begun to loath him.
The only person in the village who treated him like a person was his mother, Bai Quishui. His father, Bai Tianming had long since disowned him and thus they hadn't talked with each other in years.
Bai Syaoran had some recollections of his former life but most of his memories were foggy.
Whenever he tried to remember that faithful day his head would hurt like it was splitting apart.
…
On certain morning Bai Syaoran woke up early and got dressed, his youthful eyes brimming with excitement.
Today wasn't like any other day. Today the Azure Village's annual martial qualification test would be held.
Since Bai Syaoran was 14 he naturally to attend.
In the kitchen Bai Syaoran saw a piece of dried bread with sugar water prepared on the table so him.
Without hesitation he dug in to fill his stomach before heading out.
Bai Syaoran had long messy brown hair that was tied into a ponytail, red clear blue, and dawned a simple cheap robe. His appearance resembled that of a little fiend.
On top of a hill behind the Azure Village was shrine.
Outside the shrine were dozens of other village children the same age as Bai Syaoran.
Bai Syaoran ascended the steps up the hill like little rabbit.
When he arrived all the other children looked at him with distain as if they were looking at dog shit.
"This little fiend actually dared to show up!"
"what's he hoping to achieve? With his retarded mind there is no way that he can cultivate"
"Hahaha! I guess even chickens hope to one day become a phoenix"
"Hahaha!"
The moment they saw Bai Syaoran the children started throwing insults and mockery at him.
They were so young yet they were so vicious.
Just as the children were laughing at Bai Syaoran the shrine doors opened behind them.
Behind the doors was the Azure Village Chief Lu Yunfei. Lu Yunfei had a thick head of grey hair and wrinkles all over his body.
He was clearly really old.
The children felt an unknown pressure emanating from Lu Yunfei. The pressure bared down on their little shoulders like a mountain.
The weaker children fell to the knees while he stronger ones were still able to resist. Bai Syaoran was part of the later group since his lifestyle was always filled with crazy and retarded acts.
After testing the group of children Lu Yunfei had successfully weeded out the trash and sent them home.
One group was sent home with bitter hearts while the other was invited in with high spirits.
Inside the shrine was a wooden house that looked fancier than those the villagers lived in.
At the centre was a large stone tablet that had mysterious rune carvings.
Lu Yunfei raised his voice and filled his speech with some Qi energy, "Ok every one line up! The qualification test is about to begin!"
The infused Qi energy made Lu Yunfei's speech domineering.
All the children didn't waste any time and formed a line as they prepared to face their futures.
