12 years later
" Hey please let's not forget that there's a boundary at which we can go", Benjamin said to them as they approached the forest",
" don't be a mood killer, Ben, we are all just going to hunt",
" I know what I'm saying and I don't trust you especially", he said referring to Timothy, " We can't exceed our boundary, it's dangerous", he said.
The humans have a boundary at which they can go, there's a territory that was ruled out for no one to cross to avoid trouble.
" However, you eat what you hunt",
" Let's all meet back at the river bank", Elijah said and with that, the six of them walked into the forest and went their separate ways with their hunting tools. During this time, Elijah is now 24 years old while Benjamin is 29 while others are also between the ages of 24 and 29, Elijah is the youngest, and Timothy and Benjamin are mates.
The young men set out into the forest with their hearts pounding with excitement. The forest was dense and mysterious, not all hunters come to the forest to run cause of their cautiousness not to overstep the boundaries cause a little mistake can cause them a lot, but the youths have decided to hunt there and be careful at the same time. They were prepared and determined to track down their quarry. As they moved deeper into the trees, they heard the birdsong fade away, replaced by the rustling of branches and the crunch of leaves underfoot. Then men soon went their separate ways, watching their steps as they tip-toe, one of their friends who knows Elijah for having a fascinating sense for ears and smells made him his partner and he made the right decision. A few seconds after they settled, hiding behind a coverage, his eyes and ears were very much alert. Even though the prey was far away, Elijah could hear its deep grunt and labored breathing, the rustling sound he made and he tried to sense its distance. Upon realizing it was not far away, he began to move closer while the other Hunter followed his lead. Soon, he spotted a glimpse of movement through the trees.
"There!" he whispered, pointing to a shadow darting between the trunks. They followed the shadow deeper into the forest, their pulses quickening as they drew closer to their prey. The other man with Elijah tripped over something and got the attention of the boar in the process.
" What a dummy!", Elijah cursed as they both froze, staring back at the eyes looking back at them with anger and its tusks gleaming in the dappled sunlight.
In a split of a second, the beast charged at them and the both of them ran opposite ways trying to find a cover or away from the angry boar but they weren't fast enough as the boar jumped on one of them in an instant and he began to scream and call for help while he tried to fight the beast off him. He was so scared at the moment thinking Elijah was going to forsake him but then Elijah jumped on its back when he saw that its concentration was totally on his friend and how to make him a meal. He didn't waste any time and stabbed the beast with his hunting knife.
The boar reared back in pain, then turned and fled into the trees but Elijah wasn't planning on letting him go, he immediately took out his bow and arrow and shot it before it got away. He sighed in relief and smiled when he saw it dropped dead, he then turned towards his friends and helped him up.
" Goodness! you saved me" " the young man named Matthew said hugging Elijah tight. Elijah chuckled and said,
" You need to see your face while crying for help, I couldn't ignore", he teased and laughed,
" I was so scared, I thought I was going to die",
"But thank graciously, you'll get to do Thanksgiving", he said giggling,
" of course, thanks to you, I owe you one", he said and hugged him happily. They both jogged to get their dead prey and Matthew volunteered to carry it.
" Let's head back, it's getting late already", Elijah said and they immediately proceeded out of the forest.
" Don't you think we should tell the team about this", Timothy's hunting partner said nervously,
" Team? Whose team?",
" our friends",
" And what are you planning to tell them, then we break the boundary while pursuing a deer?",
" Yes, of course, we should even tell the elders so they'll have a solution to it fast",
" and how are you so sure we even break the boundary",
" I know we...",
" Are you a fool?", Tim cut him short, " How are you even sure we are the only ones that break the boundary, moreover they'll say we cheat and mock us for years about it, especially Ben",
" But..",
" Are you wishing for death?", he glared at him murderously, " Let me see you say a word, and watch what I'll do to your sister",
" Are you threatening me?",
" You know me so well, I saved your sister from that disgusting bully and a rapist, my influence is what is keeping her save and I'm sure you won't want to jeopardize that", he said and walked away after getting a satisfactory expression from Luya. He left the deer for him to carry while he walked away.
It was already dark, the young men began to gather at the river bank one group after the other, Benjamin and his partner were the first to arrive with a deer smaller than the one Timothy and Luya hunted. Elijah and Matthew are the second to arrive and Tim's team are the last. They appraised one another for the job well done.
" Would never think you'd catch a boar, how did you guys do it?", Ben asked looking fascinated,
" It was Elijah who killed it, I nearly died for real",
" c'mon stop exaggerating, there's nothing really with catching a boar", Timothy said rolling his eyes,
" are you kidding me? You need to see his scary eyes when he looks at us, I felt like my soul ran away from my body that moment", he said and they all burst into laughter,
" before we all began to gist ourselves about our little adventures, let's make a fire somewhere, the babies in my stomach are angry", he said and walked away. Others supported and followed him.
They set fire somewhere not far from the river bank, gathered the woods, and soon began to roast the animals while some went to fetch drinking water. Luya wanted to tell Elijah about what they did but the ogling eyes of Timothy were never off him, it made it very uncomfortable and intimidating but the guilt wouldn't let him be and he concluded that sooner or later he would tell them, not knowing it'd be too late by then.
