The Duchess's eyes blinked repeatedly, her golden eyelashes fluttering as she furrowed her brows. She seemed to have snap out of her frenzy, her visage gaining a bit of lucidity.
She scanned her surroundings, her eyebrows jumping a little high as she realized she was in a place darker than usual.
'Where am I?'
Her answer came a second later. Examining her surroundings more vividly, she realized she was in a pit, or a hole, whichever. And given the thorough inspection she carried out, she further realized she was a little over a hundred meters into the earth, a height that was child's play to her.
However, most importantly, how had she gotten?
'Given the fact I found myself here without even realizing how and when, it seems that accursed state has been triggered yet again. All I can remember was my conversation with that Human before everything went dark.'
The Draconians had a second major flaw. A flaw that was just as deep-seated in their bloodlines as the first. However, unlike the first, this one was known by all and was extremely fatal if triggered, not only to the Draconians themselves, but also to the enemy that was the triggerer.
When overwhelmed by an intense emotion known as anger, the Draconians entered a momentary state of frenzy that suspended every one of their rational thoughts.
In this state however, they see an immediate increase in all of their attributes, ranging from five times to ten times, depending on how angry the Draconian was. Moreover, when they are subjected to this frenzied state, which halts all their thoughts process other than to kill, the first flaw of their race is rendered obsolete.
It was for this reason it could be especially fatal to an enemy who is barely stronger than the Draconian in the first place. How could he ever fare against the sudden spike in power?
When things were put this way, it suddenly became confusing why the flaw was called a flaw. However, there was one major reason it was called just that, a flaw.
And that was because, with the sudden loss of their rationality, in exchange for a massive increase in power, the Draconians wouldn't be able to differentiate between foe and friends. The only reason the Duchess hadn't attack anyone else was because Damian, the triggerer of her rage-fest, was still living. Unless he died, she wouldn't leave him be. It was for this reason she had continued her attack even when she should have known it would be fruitless.
In addition, although that frenzied state was only temporary, during the time that it took over them, they wouldn't stop fighting until they either get killed, become exhausted to the point of immobility or get assaulted by a sensation intense enough to snap them back to reality. In the Duchess's case, it was the shock that travelled through her body when her last attack had collided. Of course, she had no recollection of such.
That said, she didn't have the time to dwell on that at the moment. Although, the state of that Human was currently unknown, she had a feeling he wasn't dead. As such, she needed to get up as quick as possible and see for herself the current state of things.
It was at this very moment the voice of the Human she had thought was either dead at the very worst, or at best, a step away from said death, sounded. And worse yet, the voice sounded just underneath her.
"You are quite heavy, you know."
His voice came as a stilted groan, but to her ears and to her own dismay, it sounded particularly… alluring?
Her head snapped towards the ground, and lo and behold, an attractive specimen the likes of which she had never seen entered into her eyes.
Although, due to the fact that he currently lay underneath her and as such didn't have access to his complete figure, the parts she could see still stunned her into silence.
Where a mangled and disfigured face should have been, a handsome face beyond explanation sat in replacement. His golden eyes appeared to radiate an immense light, giving one the illusion that one was looking at the sun itself. A phenomena that was made more prominent in this dark area.
His straight and clearly masculine nose, his thin lips, and that jawline that seemed carved by the most divine of hands.
However, if it were just these, she wouldn't have been so stunned. No, what made her so stunned was the fact that she felt… extremely attracted to him, or more appropriately, she felt extremely attracted to the subtle aura that radiated from his body, emphasis on the word 'extremely'.
And worse yet, she was finding it very difficult to restrain herself from devouring him, to hold herself from… gobbling him up completely.
"Who are you?"
Her voice was melodious and less aggressive than before. A fact that left her stunned.
For someone who had killed her comrades, the only fate he deserved was death, and yet, here she was, seated on his torso, and starting a conversation with him, with a more passive tone.
She couldn't and didn't understand how she had ended up in such a position.
"Damian Octavius,"
Of course, the young male Human she was sitting on was none other than Damian. Much like the Duchess, he also felt extremely attracted.
However, unlike the Duchess who was unaware of why she suddenly possessed such feelings, he, however, was completely aware of the reason.
He hadn't been aware before, but after he unshackled all his talents, and gaining access to all of their uniqueness, he understood, and it left him shocked.
One could even say it was exactly because of this reason he hadn't done anything to harm her, even though he now possessed what than enough power to do that. That and the fact that he just found her sexy and attractive.
However, he didn't have the time to mind that as of present. Even more so than the Duchess, he wanted to know what was currently happening. They were a little over hundred meters into the ground after all.
"Hey!"
The cute whine of the Duchess sounded as he clasped his big palms around her waist, lifting her with no difficulty whatsoever, before deftly standing up himself.
He almost smiled when he saw the blush on her cheeks, which made her especially adorable.
"Duchess, I know you are most confused about the reason you suddenly feel attracted to me. You aren't the only one though, I also feel the same way. But believe me when I say this, although I have nothing to do with it, all will be made clear when all of this is finalized. But before then, I hope you can see me as a friend."
Damian didn't wait for the reply of the Duchess before he cleared the hundred meters deep hole in one fluid jump. He had already said his part, it was up to the Duchess to believe him or not.
No, it would even be better if she blindly believed him, because if she chose to attack him, he wouldn't mind staining his hand in her blood… even if she was extremely invaluable to him.
Back in the hole, the Duchess appeared to be in daze. She looked at the spot Damian had been a moment ago, a light smile playing at her lips.
She opened her mouth to say something, but with the volume of her voice, perhaps only she knew what she had said. A moment later though, her expression regained their usual calm. It was about time she left this hole.
However, at that moment, the ground shook beneath her feet.
BOOM!
"Where is that lizard bitch?! Hmph! Draconians my ass! You accursed reptiles are nothing but Dragon wannabes! Take this! Hahahaha!"
The Duchess's face which had regained their calm suddenly grew grim again. She didn't waste time anymore. She took off the ground, existing the hole before landing on the edge.
What she beheld made her eyes widened.
"You… weren't you supposed to be dead?!"
"Ha! There you are! I thought so too! But it seems some deity up there thought otherwise. And now I'm here! To eradicate you and your accursed race for daring to kill me!"
