Chapter 18 - Chapter 17 : Lauren is the most powerful Witch.

With an imposing presence, Damien advanced upon mazariou, swift and determined. His powerful grip closed tightly around his arm, effortlessly hoisting him into the air. In a violent display of force, he hurled the hapless figure with unrelenting might, propelling him forcefully against a nearby wall. The impact was thunderous, shattering the bricks into fragments that rained down around them, scattering debris across the ground.

Fueled by an insatiable thirst for blood, Mazariou wasted no time. He swiftly rose to his feet, his posture shifting into a formidable fighting stance. The act of nearly draining Lauren had revitalized his energy, surging through his veins and fortifying his resolve. In that pivotal moment, muscles tensed and eyes ablaze with determination, he prepared to unleash a torrent of his own attacks upon Damien.

He spurn around but Damien wasn't there anymore.

"Are you going to run off, coward" mazariou taunted, whilst vigilantly looking around the basement for any sign of Damien.

"Seems the human means something to you prince Voltorie, it's a pity she suffered such a deplorable fate, tsk tsk tsk" he said laughing.

"But come to think of it, her blood doesnt taste anything like the humans, it was delicious" the words barely left his mouth when he was hurled against the wall and pinned there with Damien claws round about his neck.

A myriad of emotions coursed through his veins as he gazed upon the countenance of Damien. Shock and disbelief etched deeply into his features, his eyes widening at the unimaginable sight before him.

Damien's face transformed into a dark angry vampire with fangs longer than that of an average vampire. The fiery intensity of his golden irises seemed to burn with a righteous fury, an otherworldly flame that confronted the darkness.

As Damien's voice resonated with an authority akin to the rush of mighty waters, the weight of his words hung heavily in the air. "What I am about to do," he declared with an unwavering resolve, "cannot be undone"

In a swift motion that defied comprehension, Damien raised his left hand, channeling his formidable strength. With a merciless swipe, he severed Mazariou's arm from its socket, an act that elicited a scream of excruciating pain. The severed limb plummeted to the floor, the echo of its impact resonating, a grotesque testament to the cruelty of the moment.

Desperation dripped from Mazariou's trembling voice as he pleaded for mercy, his words saturated with fear and a willingness to divulge any secrets. Yet, his pleas were met with an impassive silence, his cries falling upon deaf ears. In this grim encounter, the mercy he sought seemed but a distant hope, vanishing into the abyss of ruthless determination.

A gut-wrenching cry escaped his lips as Damien savagely tore his beating heart from within his chest, an act of merciless brutality that defied comprehension. Agony painted his features, an indelible mask of pain etched upon his face. However, Damien's response was cold and disinterested, devoid of remorse or empathy. "Not interested," he uttered dismissively, as if discarding an insignificant trinket. With a callous gesture, he released his lifeless body, allowing it to crumple to the ground like a discarded rag.

Meanwhile, the fragile thread that held Lauren's consciousness began to fray. Her vision blurred, the boundaries between reality and a hazy dream state blending together in an unfathomable swirl. She bore witness to the grotesque scene that had unfolded before her eyes, her mind struggling to comprehend the harrowing sights that transcended the limits of rationality.

As her energy waned and her grip on consciousness faltered, she summoned the strength to speak, her voice but a faint whisper carried by the breeze. "Damien," she murmured softly, her words a fragile plea in the face of overwhelming darkness. And then, with a final gasp, she succumbed to the encroaching oblivion, slipping into unconsciousness.

"Stay with me Lauren" Damien said as he carried her and zoomed out.

The agents gasped as they saw Lauren's body in the Damien arm.

"What happened" the agents asked, stephanie panicked and ran towards him.

"Is she going to be ok" her voice trembled.

"She will be, let's leave this place" Damien said and walked out with Lauren in his arms.

"Burn this place to the ground damon" Damien said telepathically.

"Mum" lauren called out, uncertainty laced her voice as she draw nearer to the figure that was sitting in a beautiful garden that was overlooking a small lake.

"Mum" she called out again, louder this time and just then the figure turned and alas, it was her mother.

"Lauren" The woman called out, shocked and surprise written all over her face. She stood immediately and stared at the face of the daughter she had missed so dearly.

A bright smile laced her face as she watched her daughter run up into her arms.

"Mum, I have missed you so much" she cried in her arms as the familiar fragrance of her mothers natural lavender scent whizzed into her nostrils.

"My beautiful baby" she cooed, patting her on the back gently...

After what seemed like forever, lauren had calmed down, her mum took her and sat her down beside her on the grass.

"How have you been doing my baby" her mum asked smiling brightly at her.

"I have not being fine mum, it's been really hard without you" lauren answered honestly, earning a bitter smile from her mum.

"How is your father" she asked again, even though she knew the answer.

"He misses you so much, even though he doesnt say it most times" lauren answered again.

Her mum stared lovingly at her beautiful daughter and couldn't help caressing the sides of her face, indeed she had missed her baby girl.

"There are things, I should have told you when you were young, about our lineage...I promised that I would tell you once you clocked eighteen but unfortunately for both of us I couldnt make it to your eighteenth birthday, and regretted it ever since I had prayed to the moon goddess to give me a chance to see you one last time and tell you" her mum said solemnly, moving a strand of her hair behind her ear.

Lauren stared at her and wondered what she was talking about, but she calmly listened anyway.

"But now that my request has been granted, I don't know if telling you will be the best thing lauren" she sighed.

"I can handle whatever it is mum" lauren assured her with a smile.

"Our family's lineage stretches back through the annals of time, tracing its roots to a bygone era when powerful witches reigned supreme," she began, her voice laced with both pride and nostalgia.

"For over two centuries, our ancestors held the esteemed position of guardians, entrusted with the delicate task of maintaining balance among the realms of existence."

She paused for a moment, a subtle reflection glinting in her eyes, before continuing. "Your grandmother, a woman of unparalleled strength and wisdom, was revered as the queen of the witch realm. To be a witch in those days was the highest honor one could attain in the vast tapestry of the supernatural realm".

A wistful smile graced her lips as she delved deeper into her personal journey. "However, the mantle of power did not pass onto me, but rather to my younger sister, Veronica. And so, I made the choice to leave the confines of the witch realm, bidding farewell to my birthright and embracing the realm of the humans. It was there, in the human world, that fate led me to your father, and as they say, the rest became history."

Her smile radiated a profound mix of nostalgia and contentment. The weight of ancestral heritage intermingled with the joys and challenges of her chosen path, shaping the tapestry of their family's story.

"Wow, does dad know any of these?" She asked.

"Well yes, I didnt tell him initially because I didnt want to lose him but when we gave birth to you, I had to tell him, he didnt understand of course because I didn't have powers to back up my claims, so it was easier, but when you showed a glimpse of magic when you turned two, he became an ardent believer of the supernatural realm" she continued..

A bewildered expression painted Lauren's face as she struggled to process the newfound revelation. "What?... I had magic?" she stammered, her words laced with confusion and disbelief.

Her mother's eyes, filled with a mixture of pride and sorrow, met Lauren's gaze. With a tender voice, she confirmed the latent power that resided within her daughter. "Yes, my dear, you possess the gift of magic. In fact, you are more powerful than even your formidable grandmother,"

she revealed, her words carrying a weight of both awe and caution. However, a sense of urgency suddenly swept over her as she glanced at the shifting sky.

Despite the wave of emotions crashing within her, Lauren yearned for a moment of respite, a chance to bask in her mother's presence once more.

"But why, Mum? I want to stay here with you," she pleaded softly, her voice filled with an unshed longing.

Embracing her mother tightly, seeking solace in her warm embrace, Lauren held onto every trace of their bond that transcended time and circumstances.

As their embrace lingered, a bittersweet battle waged within her mother's heart. She fought back the tears that threatened to stream down her face, her love for her daughter clashing with the harsh reality of their situation.

With a heavy sigh, she fought to steady her voice, conveying the gravity of the moment while soothing her daughter's yearning.

With a firm resolve etched upon her features, Lauren's mother locked eyes with her tear-filled gaze. In those piercing moments, she conveyed a profound message that reverberated within her daughter's soul. "Find Veronica, your aunt. She holds the key to understanding all that has transpired," her mother urged, her voice unwavering despite the tinge of sorrow that clung to her words.

As tears welled in Lauren's eyes, her mother extended a tender embrace, seeking to provide solace even in the face of separation. "Do not weep, my darling," she whispered, her voice trembling with both love and conviction. "Though our paths diverge for now, we will be reunited in due time. But first, you have a crucial role to fulfill—one that carries immense weight and affects the destiny of many. You must find the strength within you, my love".

The whirlwind, an unforgiving force of fate, tore them apart, severing the physical connection but leaving behind an indelible bond. With her heart heavy yet determined.

"Mum!" Lauren's startled cry shattered the stillness of the night, jolting her awake in a sudden panic. As her eyes adjusted to the dim surroundings, she found herself enveloped by the concerned gaze of Chloe, her dear friend and confidante. Chloe's expression displayed a mixture of relief and worry, emanating genuine empathy.

Sobs escaped from Lauren's trembling lips as tears streamed down her pale face, her distress etched deeply within her tear-filled eyes. Inquisitively, Chloe leaned in closer, her voice infused with genuine concern.

"What happened, Lauren? Why are you crying? Are you in pain?" she asked, her words tumbling forth with an undercurrent of anxiety.

Lauren, still overwhelmed by the fragments of her unsettling dream lingering in her mind, shook her head wordlessly in response. The tears continued to flow, unabated. Chloe, undeterred, enveloped Lauren in her comforting embrace, gently rocking her back and forth, offering solace in the storm of emotions.

"I'm here for you," Chloe reassured her, her voice a soothing balm to Lauren's troubled spirit. The rhythm of her tender patting on Lauren's back echoed the sentiments of unwavering support and presence.

Chloe's heart twisted with concern as she pondered the haunting depths of her friend's dream, curious as to what could have evoked such intense anguish. She knew firsthand the value of their friendship and the necessity of emotional support in times like these.

After Lauren had gradually calmed down, the hushed sound of determination filled the air as Chloe pressed the call button, summoning the medical professionals into their private ward.

In a matter of seconds, the doctors and nurses arrived.

"Miss Lauren, we are glad to have you with us" Derek said smiling broadly at her.

Chloe offered her a glass of warm water to soften her parched voice.

Derek observed her vital on the machine and was relieved that it was better than it was few days ago.

"How long have I been out?" Lauren asked calmly.

"A weeks and two days" Derek said while Lauren looked on in shock.

"That long, wow....anyway can I get discharged today?" She asked.

"Whoa, slow down Lauren, we need to observe you today atleast, then you can leave tomorrow" Derek assured her.

"Do you remember anything that happened that made you lose consciousness" Derek asked inquisitively to be sure the compulsion worked.

He observed her as she tried to remember what happened.

"The only thing I remember was being hit from behind and every thing was pitch black" she said innocently.

"Alright then, we will leave you to get some rest " Derek said and turned to leave with his nurses when Lauren stoped him with an unexpected question.

"Damien, he was rescued right?" She asked calmly, holding her breath and waited for the answer.

Derek smiled before turning towards her....

"Yes, he is safe and at the company" Derek said before.

"That's good, thanks" she said releasing the breath she held in, Derek smiled before urging her to rest.

"Guess who asked of you" Derek said on the phone.

"Go straight to the point Derek" Damien said "She is awake" Derek uttered the three words everyone had been waiting for, for the past seven days plus.

Damien stood immediately from his seat and walked out of the meeting room.

"I'm coming over to the hospital" Damien said and hung the call.
