Kel watched the spiraling vortex become smaller and smaller: Evaporating into the stone.
He jumped up rushing towards the cement slab: banging his fists onto it.
"Rae! RAE!" He desperately called out his friends name. No reply. Fists planted firmly he touched his forehead to its surface.
"Rae...What did you do...?"
The sound of a power box exploding brought Kel back to reality. He faced the blazing inferno once more. He didn't know what to do. His breathing was sharp, his heart was racing: He felt helpless.
He covered his ears. The screams of people inside the building were deafening. He shook as he fell to his knees.
"Someone help them!! Please!!" He begged for anyone to come. The sounds of far off sirens came into ear shot. Kel knew they weren't going to make it in time.
"AGHHH!!!!!!!"
All he could do was scream along side the agonizing victims who were lost to the flames.
A sudden flash of light sped by him. Another then another. They were quiet and quick: like a baseball that had been hit by a batter.
The balls of light drew into the blaze. A moment later multiple lights shot up into the sky from the building. Kel couldn't believe what he was seeing. A pair of sandals clomped next to Kel. Turning his head slowly he saw the figure of a tall man. He was clouded in a white robe with a white Sash Tied around his waist. His hair was a golden color. Gold specks shimmered around his head and body. Kel glanced behind the man. A pair of large white bird wings hung from his back.
He looked back at his face. His eyes were an iced blue. He stared intently at the fire before them.
"Make sure they all go. We will sort them out later. Evacuate the souls." He executed orders pointing to the white orbs.
"Souls?!"
Kel couldn't help but to speak out as he stared at this angel. A real life looking angel standing next to him.
The man seemed startled. His head swung to Kel as they both stared right at eachother.
"How..." The man whispered under his breath.
"That's it...this is just a dream" Kel laughed awkwardly.
"There's no way I just watched Rae walk through a wall with a monster and now I'm seeing angels."
He held his head in his hand.
"I feel nauseous".
Kel's legs gave out as he headed for a collision on the hard cement.
The man reached out Grabbing him by the back of his jacket. He gently lowered him to the ground.
"How is he able to see me?" He studied Kel's face.
"He doesn't seem to have any powers. Is he a fallen angel? A demon in disguise?" He nudged Kel's body with his foot.
"Mirra".
A woman with a pale complexion, Soft blue eyes, and Near snow white hair, curled, appeared in an instance in front of the two.
"Yes Berano?"
"I need this ones memory cleaned. He saw us and the souls that were sent to heaven. Wipe the memories and take him to his hovel".
"Of course sir!" She bowed her head in respect.
As if he weighed nothing: Mirra lifted Kel into her arms and flew through the sky. She looked down at Kel's sleeping face.
"What a cutie. His fair skin is just wonderful!" She had an eye for beautiful things: Whether it consisted of people or objects.
Mirra read his memories while she flew. Searching through to find the ones that needed to be eliminated.
She gasped.
Ascending from the sky: She stood lightly on a telephone wire.
Her blue eyes were shimmering as she watched the event from his most recent memories.
"That's Vion!" She watched as the devil took the other man with him to the underworld.
"How were you able to see Vion with those human eyes of yours?"
She flipped back in time to his older memories from a teenager, to a child and eventually to an infant. The pages of a book she went through them to only be stopped. She couldn't reach back any further. The memories of the day he first opened his eyes had been erased.
"How is this possible?!" She checked and checked. Gone.
"I must report this to Berano!" She said to herself. She flipped back to the recent events of the last twenty minutes: including the ones of his friend and devil.
Waving her palm over his forehead she collectively burned the memories from his mind.
"It's best you don't remember ANY of this..." She solemnly smiled. She lay him outside of his apartment door and swiftly flew away.
--
Kel opened his eyes. He was in the same black void as before. There was nothing and no one around him. He was alone.
A lone figure of a woman appeared far away in a dim light.
"H-hey!" He called out to her. Kel tried running but his legs weighed down like they had been stuck in sand. He reached his arm out and yelled out again.
The woman held her back to him. She was draped in a purple fitting dress. He hair was coal colored,Thick and curly down to her waist, with shimmers of black and purple dust. Her hands were covering her face.
"Is she crying?" Kel asked himself.
As he got closer she slowly turned around.
"Why didn't you save him?"
He voice sounded sad and weary. He still couldn't make out her face.
He got close enough to graze her shoulder with his fingertips. She spun around. Her face was a black void which started to suck him in.
"WHY DIDN'T YOU SAVE HIM?!" her voiced screeched like a demonic entity. Reaching out towards Kel ripping her claws into him. Kel struggled to free himself from her grip.
---
Gasping for air Kel sat straight up. He grasped his body with his hands once again: making sure he was not injured. His dreams had become borderline to reality he didn't know what was real or nor anymore.
He looked around and realized he wasn't at home.
"Oh Kel!" His mother had reached out and wrapped her arms around him. She was squeezing and sobbing against his shoulder.
"M-mom!" He stuttered. Taking a good look he was in a hospital ward. His right hand had an IV drip attached to a pole. His mother was in a chair next to his bed. The curtain was pulled so he couldn't make out the rest of the room.
"Oh honey! Are you alright? Oh my god!" She frantically helf his face in her hands: squishing him by his cheeks.
"I'm fine mom, what's going on? why am I here?"
She let him go.
"Don't you remember? You left the house after receiving a phone call from one of your friends. You said you were going out to party. Then the next thing I knew you were at home on the door step. I thought you had stopped breathing!" He voice became a little louder as she continued on.
"Wait! I was partying?"
His mother nodded her head with tears in her eyes. Kel handed her a tissue from the table.
"No, I went and met up with Rae remember? He called me because he was having trouble. Then later on we were going to eat at a restaurant."
Wiping the tears then blowing her nose: His mother looked back up at him.
"Is that the name of one of your friends? I don't think you introduced me to him yet."
Kel was stunned.
"Mom, What are you talking about? You know Rae. He and I have been friends for years: best friends in fact! We met when I was in community swimming when I was six?"
She seemed to sit and think.
"Sorry honey, I don't know."
"But you made lunches for his everyday for the last ten years. He always came to stay the night. He lived up in xxx apartments?!"
"Sweetheart..." She held his hand.
"Are you sure you didn't hit your head while out having fun? YOU DIDN'T DRINK DID YOU?! You're not old enough to be doing that!" She lightly smacked him on the arm.
Kel winced.
"I'm going to make a phone call to let your father know you are alright."
"Hold on! How long was I out for?"
"Mm. About a day and a half or so. now sit tight I will only be a minute."
She opened the curtain and shut it behind her as she left the room.
Kel was left alone. He looked around.
"This has got to be some kind of joke. No way mom would forget Rae like that. He was practically family!"
Kel threw the blankets off of him and grabbed a hold to the IV pole. He staggered under the weight of his body. He clutched the bed before he could fall.
"Children are supposed to listen to their mothers are they not?"
Kel looked to the window. Standing in front of the pane was boy. Looked to be around fifteen years in age. Dressed in a very familiar cloak. Kel remembered: The angel from that day.
The boy that stood there also had starry pale skin with blue eyes. His hair was short and Wavy: Resembling the color of blue ice. He shimmered just as the other angel had. Kel couldn't see any wings.
"Are you the same as the man from the other day?" Kel described Berano to a T.
"Amazing! You DO remember then!" The boy clapped his hands and folded them together. He had a glimmer of intrigue in his eyes.
"It's as the elders have predicted! We've found you!"
"I am Nathaniel my leige! I am your humble servant and your guide home!" He got on one knee and bowed to Kel.
"Woah woah woah! hold on! What do you mean? I've gotta be dreaming..."
Nathaniel raised his head.
"Your true home in the heavens. If you are able to see us then it is time you return!"
"My leige...Heaven is dying. We need you home".
Kel's head began to race. Getting dizzy once more he plopped back down onto the bed.
Nathaniel didn't seem to hesitate. He waved his hand over the glass window as a vortex of white and gold opened up. He turned and bowed his head once again.
"Whenever you are ready my king."
He motioned his hand to the portal.
