Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The puzzle piece

Sitting on the white sheets of the hospital bed: kel stared at the portal that was open before him. The angel next to him bowing his head motioning his hand towards the vortex. He held a firm grasp on the IV pole next to him.

"No...I can't." He sat firm. He rubbed the temples of his head. So many questions he had: It was getting to be a bit much.

"My king?" Nataniel reached his hand out out of worry.

"DON'T TOUCH ME!" Kel raised his voice as he swung his hand. Nathaniel held his head lower, backing down to one knee: eyes on the floor.

This frustrated Kel even more.

"Enough Nathaniel." A low voice came from behind Kel.

Turning his head, A tall, muscular man in the, all to familiar, white robes; Short White hair with shaved sides. The glint of his icy stare piercing through Kels line of sight.

"We don't know for certain if he Is the one we have been searching for."

"He retains his memories Soel! Doesn't that mean he is?!"

"I said ENOUGH!"

Nathaniel backed off.

The angel called Soel turned to Kel; glaring down at him.

"For us to know if you are the one we are searching for, I shall dive into your soul human". Soel lift his right arm up, a dazzling gleam of pure white essence coated his hand.

Without having any place to run: Kel watched as the angel reached towards his chest. The essence and his hand entering his body.

A flash of white light surrounded the two angels. Soel, and Nathaniel Stood in an empty abyss. No sound, no color just a vast room of nothingness.

"Amazing!" Nathaniel gawked looking around.

"His soul is a pure one. You don't see that everyday!"

"Do you ever stop talking?" Soel mumbled as he knelt to the ground. Taking his right hand he sifted his entire appendage below the surface up to his shoulder. Feeling around he pulled his arm back up. Three blue orbs began to orbit around his hand.

The identity, personality and memories of his entire being were gently held by Soel.

Setting them free into the main room of his soul the parts of him began to unravel like a silk ribbon.

Soel studied the personality line, it snaked: floating between the angels.

"White, pure and untainted." Soel lightly brushed his fingers along its form.

The same with the personality and memories of Kel. All three were of a pure white essence.

Soel stopped moving. His eyes grew wide as he went back to the beginning of Kel's life.

All three of the ribbons had been severed at the one year mark.

It was almost as if Kel held no beginning.

All Nathaniel and Soel could do was make eye contact in silence.

Soel waved his hand sending the blue orbs back in their places. He and Nathaniel returned to the material world.

The deities stood before Kel once more.

Seeing the look on their faces, Kel knew he was in trouble.

Soel Grabbed him by the hospital gown and pulled Kel to his chest.

"What are you? You're clearly not a human!" He was gritting his teeth: glaring at Kel.

"You all are the crazy ones!" Kel bit back.

"Regardless if he is the one he is coming with us". Soel looked at Nathaniel.

Nathaniel reopened the portal.

"No!" Kel kicked and struggled against the angels firm grip.

Soel Pulled the Iv from Kel's hand. Gripping the gown tighter: he threw Kel into the vortex.

Acting as a door: Kel fell through to the other side; landing hard on his stomach. The other two stepped through with ease. Kel adjusted his eyes. The vortex was so bright it nearly blinded him.

Sitting up, He was staring at multiple pairs of legs in front of him.

Looking up stood more heavenly beings. They ones before him were dressed in the white clothing with what looked like armor. The chest plates were of silver lined with gold. The same colors were on the arm plates that covered up to the elbow: as well as shin plates covering the ankle to the knee.

Soel and Nathaniel went to their knees.

"Archangels, we have brought the human before you. We ask for your judgement."

Looking behind him as Soel spoke, kel looked back towards the armored angels. They all held a blank expression. All of them had Grey eyes and blonde hair.

Their wing tips looked like they had been dipped in gold.

The Archangel that stood in the middle lifted his hand. Kel felt his body move on it's own. He float to his feet and began walking. He had no control.

The other archangels formed a barrier around him to hide him. None of them spoke: at least out loud. Kel could only see the garbs that they wore. He couldn't see around him. He had no idea where he was. He could probably guess but hoped not.

Moving formation, the angels formed a half circle. In front of Kel was a reflective pool. It shone like glass: The water was still. Kel peered down: it was like looking in a mirror.

This is the mirror of Raguel. You will submerge yourself and be judged by it. If you fail you will be lost to the abyss.

"And if I pass?" Kel held a bit of hope.

None of them said a word.

Kel could feel the control come back to his body. He looked at the guardians standing around him.

"We know all human, don't try and attack: you will lose". Another archangel spoke.

"That's scary" Kel gulped.

He slowly made his way up to the mirror. Peering over he saw his reflection. But the image was different.

The reflection of him was cladded in a black tunic. He held an expressionless face. Kel looked back at the angels once more.

He sighed: took a breath and dipped one foot into the pool. The feeling of a cold metallic substance wrapped around his limb. It was almost numbing.

He walked to the middle of the pool. The substance came up to his waist as he stood there.

Suddenly it was as if the floor disappeared beneath his feet. He free fell into the pool: fully submerging himself. As the angels just stood there the reflective surface suddenly became calm. Turning back into its glassy state.

Kel couldn't see, hear or feel anything. He had the sensation of floating in a pit of nothingness. He was able to breath; though the air was very heavy.

A small light flickered in the distance.

It began to float closer and closer.

Leaving a trail of shimmering essence behind hit. I swirled around Kel's body. It held a warm feeling. Almost like a familiar feeling: like a missing puzzle piece.

The small light whispered into his ear. He couldn't make out what it was saying.

Slowly: it submerged itself inside of Kel. A shot of pain extended to every part of his body.

Kel screamed.

Holding his head: The pain became immense. But just as soon as it came it vanished.

---

Still standing on the other side of the mirror of Raguel, The archangels steadied their gazes on its smooth surface.

Two small ripples erupted from underneath.

The top of Kel's head came to the surface. Slowly he ascended from the pool. His hospital gown was gone: replaced with a white tunic-like garb with white pants and a Sash around his waist.

From his back a pair of golden wings drug the ground behind him. Kel's eyes remained closed. Slowly opening them they held a shining silver color. The Archangels were all down on one k ee bowing their head to him.

Kel was confused until he caught thr reflection of himself. He wasn't scared: he was familiar with this new look. He couldnt place it but the way he looked was very familiar.

"Our king, You have finally returned to us" One of the archangels spoke out.

That's when he felt it. Reaching his hand down to where his birthmark was he lifted his shirt.

A symbol replaced the scar. The shape of a crescent moon mixed with a star formed on his skin.

Kel felt, Powerful.
