Colneth had no idea. When Dalgliesh returned and saw this scene, the impact was immense. He felt a chill down his spine and couldn't think clearly. His anger had never surged so high before. Without hesitation, he aimed and shot the two individuals, denying them even a chance to struggle.
After dealing with those two individuals, Dalgliesh approached Colneth, who was standing there dazed. He pulled him into his arms and brushed his lips against his ear, uttering the first "I'm sorry" he had ever said in his life. He knew that if he had come even a bit later, the consequences would have been unimaginable. Fortunately, he had left that gun with him initially... Fortunately, he had managed to come back...
"Dalgliesh..."
"Yeah?"
Colneth didn't speak further, merely wrapping his arms slowly around Dalgliesh waist. Despite the obstruction of his belly, he held on tighter and tighter.
