Chereads / The Alpha's Sex Pawn / Chapter 5 - Invading Grendor (two)

Chapter 5 - Invading Grendor (two)

"We cannot invade the Grendor Dynasty. It goes beyond an Amazon war," Laura, a fierce and indomitable female Alpha, spoke up. Her pack has the same duty as Ethan's pack, belonging to the Theta category of packs, a pack known for its skilled warriors who fought on the front lines.

But I couldn't understand why Laura was always wearing white clothes, especially a white jacket and a white pant. She's always dressed like a soldier who is to embark on a journey to the battle field.

"Invading the Grendor Dynasty will undoubtedly ignite a world war," another Alpha chimed in, voicing his concerns.

Soon, opposition resonated from various corners of the room, as Alphas expressed their disapproving opinions. I had been waiting for Ethan to speak up, but he remained silent, leaving me puzzled about his intentions.

The Alphas who aligned themselves with King Morgath engaged in heated arguments with those who held opposing views. The room was filled with tension and frustration, the debate intensifying with each passing moment.

Unable to tolerate the escalating discord, King Morgath decided to step forward, seeking to restore order and calmness. His commanding presence filled the room as he bellowed, "Silence!" His voice echoed heavily, carrying a hint of his wolfish nature. His eyes glowed with intensity, and his ears subtly pointed, revealing his anger and authority.

I was startled, nearly jumping out of my seat, when King Morgath roared like an enraged lion. The force of his voice sent a shiver down my spine, and I could sense the tension in the room escalating.

"It seems some of you have not been following my words. As I mentioned earlier, the Royal Pack has cooked up a plan, and all I ask for is your cooperation. I did not anticipate any opposition to the Royal ideas," King Morgath declared, his tone tinged with displeasure.

Laura, the courageous female Alpha, abided in her disapproval, addressing King Morgath directly. "Invading Grendor may attract the attention of other powerful kingdoms from the north," she warned, her unwavering spirit was earning my admiration. Oh, how I wished I possessed such bravery.

King Morgath chuckled dismissively in response to Laura's concerns. "If that is your worry, allow me to ease, your fears. We shall invade Grendor without electrifying the interest of any other kingdoms, great or small," he replied, his grin revealing a hint of slyness.

A noble human, breaking the silence that had settled over the room, raised an important question. He was the first human to speak up since the meeting commenced, drawing all eyes to him.

"And how do you propose we achieve that?" the noble inquired, his voice filled with genuine curiosity.

"Well, as I mentioned earlier in this meeting, our way revolves around commanding power and wealth. Many of the northern countries already view us with fear, don't they? So, what if we attract them to our side with treasures instead of instilling fear?" King Morgath explained, providing a detailed response to the noble's inquiry.

Laura likely had more objections to raise, but she chose to avoid further lookouts by not becoming the sole focus of attention in opposition to the King's request. Just when it seemed that every noble and Alpha was leaning towards agreeing with King Morgath, a voice emerged, lending support to Laura's reservations.

"Laura is right; we cannot proceed with the invasion of Grendor," the words rang out, and a rush of excitement coursed through my body. It was Ethan, speaking up right beside me.

A stillness fell over the room as Ethan continued to voice his disapproval. Even King Morgath found himself momentarily silenced, unable to utter a single word in response. Ethan rose from his seat, effortlessly leaping into the golden circles. My heart swelled with pride for Ethan in that moment.

"We have already taken significant risks by invading our neighboring kingdom, and it has resulted in the loss of some of our territories," Ethan's voice carried a weight of tension surpassing even that of the king's.

"But we gained a kingdom in return," Icarus retorted, countering Ethan's objection.

The kingdom they were referring to was undoubtedly Yojamba, my own homeland. Among all the Alphas, it was clear that Icarus held the position of Ethan's greatest rival. Ethan approached Icarus, his demeanor filled with a mixture of confidence and mockery, as he confronted Icarus. "Nineteen members of your pack perished, including your beta, during our last invasion. Does the lives of your remaining pack members hold no value to you? If I were in your position, I would focus on fulfilling my duties as a Lambda Alpha rather than striving so desperately to become a Theta Alpha," Ethan taunted Icarus, his words dripping with hatred.

Icarus's anger reached a boiling point, causing him to strike the handle of his seat, shattering it into pieces. "How dare you utter such words to me!" he bellowed, his roar echoing even louder than that of the king's.

Icarus's roar startled me greatly as he was seated beside me. I instinctively covered my ears and let out a horrified scream, unable to control my reaction.

Ethan, witnessing my profound distress, couldn't bear to see me in such a state of terror. Reacting swiftly, he seized Icarus by his shirt, forcefully yanked him from his seat, and threw him into the air.

Icarus transformed at mid-air into a terrifying black wolf, and quickly regained his footing upon landing. Icarus realized he was no match for Ethan, but consumed by fury, he was determined not to tarnish his pride once again.

With lightning speed, Icarus charged at Ethan with his claws and fangs ready to clash. I awaited Ethan's transformation into a wolf as well, in other to engage in the clash. However, to my surprise, Ethan simply grinned mischievously, choosing not to shift but instead eagerly awaiting Icarus's attack.

Icarus raced toward Ethan with a burst of speed, unleashed a barrage of swift attacks. Yet, Ethan, without undergoing his own transformation, skillfully dodged each strike with unusual swiftness.

Ethan seized one of Icarus's legs and swiftly brought him down to the ground. Seizing the opportunity, Ethan charged at Icarus, throwing him towards a nearby pillar.

In the midst of Icarus's push towards the pillar, King Morgath transformed into a magnificent wolf. With a combination of black and gold fur, he deflected Icarus, preventing him from colliding with the pillar and suffering grave injury.

King Morgath let out another resounding roar, the sound echoed through the inner court and reached beyond its walls. Though I couldn't recognize and understand the exact words of his roar, it was clear that he sought to put an end to the escalating conflict between Ethan and Icarus.

Ethan had begun to bring out his claws, fully determined on leaving a lasting mark on Icarus's skin.

Returning to his human form, the King called out with a straight face to both Ethan and Icarus, commanding them to return to their seats. Icarus remained in his wolf form, his position hardheaded.

"Everyone, back to your seats!" King Morgath's voice boomed with authority. Both of you have disappointed me greatly, once again," King Morgath chided them, his anger was perceivable. "Turning my inner court into a wrestling ring? There will be consequences for such behavior."

With that, the meeting was suddenly dismissed, and the King stormed out of the hall in anger.

Icarus was the first to exit the hall after the king's departure, his fury was apparent.

Ethan and I followed after, engaging in conversations as he expressed remorse for his actions during the meeting.

I had noticed Laura's fondness for Ethan during her frequent visits to his compound. Yet, Ethan, consumed by his obsession on me, remained unaware of her affections.

After a few minutes, Ethan and I came out from the inner court. As we stepped outside, I noticed that dawn had already arrived, casting its gentle light upon the palace grounds.

Escorted by Laura, we made our way towards the palace gates. Laura had arrived at the feast in a chariot, unlike I and Ethan who had arrived in a rather unconventional manner. Unknownly to Ethan and I, a great danger awaited us in the woods.

To be continued... The attack on the woods.
