Ina finally took the slip of paper and put it in her bag. She knelt in front of Peppermint.
"I don't know why I'm doing this," she said.
"Don't do it, then," Peppermint said with a shrug.
"I think he needs you, Mint. Would you please go with him?"
The white fox growled with frustration. "Why can't you come with us?"
"Someone needs to make her leave," said Kier, pointing at Athyn. He was off by a considerable distance, though. Kier realized it and gestured with his hand circularly to encompass the general area where the Femage might have been standing. "Wherever she is."
