No, thought Kier. It takes accepting that you're wrong. That you're being stupid. That there are things you must not do. I'm wrong. I'm being stupid. I can't do this. I must not do this.
"Kier, get away from Athyn," said Ina.
She senses it, thought Kier.
The Mage exhaled slowly as balance settled in sturdily within him again. The Madness had not strained his sanity for two weeks. Athyn's presence, the way she reminded him of his family, had stirred this plague in him anew.
"Right." Kier took a spinning step back to look at the Witch, eyes brown as usual, he was sure. "You are supposed to speak with her. I might have to go prepare to write another story."
