"Tell them I'm alright." Kier said to Ina as she approached him. The Mage must have sensed her getting close. "I just wanted to be alone."
"They just want me to make sure of that. So if you could turn around and let me see your eyes, I'll go back down and tell them not to worry."
He did. They were normal, Kier's eyes, and not green with a light of their own. The tension in Ina's back was gone immediately. She hadn't even realized she'd been holding her breath until she let it out very, very slowly so Kier wouldn't notice.
"You've heard of the Mages' Madness, then?" asked Kier.
"Of course I have."
"Is that why you started carrying a bag with your Components? Just in case you have to do something about me?"
