Now, George's and Lilian's response with wide smiles on their faces, brought a great relief to Frank
The youngsters were aware that with him around, there would not be any dull moment for them.
On Sarah and her husband's return, they had to announce the doctor's suggestions. Therefore, while they were at the dining table, Sarah quickly reported.
“The doctor suggested that papa should be flown to India for a surgery as soon as possible.”
“Ind…what? Do you mean the India that is in his village?”
Ada asked sarcastically,
“Ind… Village. Yes, the India that is in his village. If he must be flown to India, he should provide the money, period.”
Uju suggested with finality.
“In my opinion, if the money is there, we should give it a try. I am not convinced that sending him abroad will be too much on all of us. In my opinion, we should not be responsible for his death. No matter what, he is your father. We can't fold our hands and do nothing.”
Now, Mama's words made them to view the matter from different angles, and they had to reason with her. At that point, she was sober.
Subsequently, they made arrangements for his medical trip abroad. Now, Uju, who Becks asked her husband to check out a male producing lady and marry, gave her husband a call. He managed his father's airline company. To her delight, he was most willing to provide a private jet to take him abroad.
Now, everyone was eager to help. Frank volunteered to be his caregiver throughout his stay in the hospital. After all, Mr. Beck Aaron was his uncle.
However, George and Lilian were happy to see their mother back. Meanwhile, George had not celebrated his admission, as that day just went bad. His parents deliberately refused to inform him over the phone when he gave them a call while they were on their way back from his school. His mother wanted to break the news to him in person and watch him react.
“I am so sorry mummy, it will not happen again.”
He leaned on the chair to ensure that his cheek to touched his mother's head before he apologized.
“I caused all these problems.”
His mother, who had calmed down, saw things from another perspective, so, he cheered him up.
“It was not your fault, my dear. It is your duty to respect an elder, but it’s unfortunate that some adults capitalize on the innocence of the younger ones to do mischief. Next time, just be careful. Did you get me?"
“Yes, mom”
George responded as he took his seat beside her. Then, his mother broached the subject that he had been waiting to hear something about.
“That reminds me, we have not celebrated your admission. Don't bother, son. I will make it up to you.”
Now, George jolted forward and gave his mother a quizzical look.
“Wow! Was I admitted?”
He asked with excitement.
“Are you just asking? You mean your daddy had not informed you?”
“No, he didn't tell me anything, but was I admitted?”
Nevertheless, the others watched in admiration as Sarah and George discussed.
“Certainly, my son, you were admitted. Your name was number five on the list. Congratulations”
“Thank you mummy, thank you daddy.”
George said as he walked to the father, who had been watching them silently, and gave him a hug before he returned to his room.
“Thank you, dad.”
“You are welcome and congratulations.”
“I appreciate, dad.”
Now, visitors from the church, family meeting members, colleagues, and friends were visiting to commiserate with the family over the tragedy that befell them. Although, the true story was kept secret from everyone except the close family members and Dr. Prince Dixon. The distant family members were shocked when they learned of the arrangements to fly Mr. Aaron abroad. Meanwhile, on one occasion, two distant family members visited the family and discussed bitterly about Beck on their way back.
“How can such a good for nothing, Beck, be sent abroad for a surgery? I see it as a waste of resources.”
“I am not aware that you're thinking like me. Why would anyone want Beck to be alive? Of what use is he to the society?”
“I had been thinking what could make them wish that he remains alive – to be doing what?”
“He is not a Researcher or a Renowned Surgeon. Just tell me why he must live.”
“Ha ha ha! You make me laugh. You're going too far. Is he a good father or a good husband, or even a brother? Simple titles that your emotions can earn you. The title that you do not need any academic qualifications to possess.”
Meanwhile, Sarah had never mentioned her father to anyone. Many thought that her father died long ago. Telling people that her father was in the hospital was strange and stranger the circumstances that led him to the hospital.
However, on Thursday morning, her siblings returned to their stations to continue with the arrangement to fly their figurehead father abroad. Then, one of her staff, Mrs. Chy Eze, a gossip per excellence, she was a good description of a rumor monger. If there is anything that should be kept secret, the best thing is to keep her out of it by avoiding her. All the same, if there is the need for a free or cheap publicity, just carry her along. If your husband is eating, and she visits your house, be rest assured that the public will know the number of meat in your husband’s food. She would also inform them of the quantity of water, salt, oil, and pepper in your husband’s soup, the number of seasoning cubes you added. She had her way of exaggerating things. On one occasion, she told her colleagues that the veggies in the soup that one of their colleagues served her husband were not thoroughly washed with salt. How she detected that information baffled all of them. However, she was lucky to have an understanding husband and good in laws who tolerated her reprehensible character.
