At Mirabel's Chamber
She returned to her chamber afterward, and to her disturbance, the weight of her love for Alfred weighed heavily upon her. She looked out for a message or call from him, but none came. Now, it was a few minutes to 11 AM, and she wondered, “Why has he not checked on me?”
Presently, she was uneasy, as she looked at the clock ticking from seconds to minutes. She picked up a magazine to keep herself busy, but she could not concentrate. Then, she thought of their conversation that morning, and she recalled that she was rude, by cutting the call on him.
“Oh my God. He is mad at me for being rude,” she concluded, and dialed his number.
“I can apologize,” she resolved while the phone rang, and she waited anxiously for him to pick.
In Carson's Car
After Alfred made up his mind to give Mirabel a call, he swiped his phone, and slid to her number, before he could dial, her call came.
