She threw up again when she woke up, and by the time she finished flushing and cleaning up, her roommate was leaning by the doorframe of the bathroom. She jumped in freight, letting out a deep breath through her nose as she held onto the sink to keep herself upright.
"Alexandra, you've been sick for almost a month now. You can't keep telling me it's a flu-it definitely isn't," Melissa said calmly, her eyes worried.
"I don't know what else it could be, okay?" Lexi replied, wiping the tears gathered in her eyes with a towel. "I just hope it goes away before we write our final exams."
"Have you gone to the hospital?"
Lexi shook her head, looking anywhere but at Melissa. "Can't afford to right now."
Melissa sighed, unfolding her arms and running a hand through her dark hair. "When was the last time you had your period?"
Lexi frowned, trying hard to remember her latest one but she couldn't. "I don't remember." Then she looked up at Melissa. "Why?"
