Trey's House
Carter was actually cleaning when she heard them start-well, she heard his stepdad's voice. She couldn't make out what was being said, but she could hear the hoots and guffaws.
'Enjoy it while you still can,' she thought with a smile.
She moved out of the room she finished with to the next one, when she heard the ear piece crackle to life. "Carter, can you hear me?"
She pushed her cart of items into the room she was headed for and closed it behind her before replying, "Yes, I can."
"We've got approximately a minute until the power goes out. Nicolysse and I are edging our way towards the front of the maze," he whispered, and Carter could really hear them moving.
Carter touched the edge of her face, along her jawline, trying to find the end of the mask. Once she found it, she began pulling it off, listening to Ethan speak.
