[Cast:???]
Oscar's skin became pale.
"Come at me, Jisvo."
[Cast: Thunder Daimon]
Lightning surged around Jisvo's body. The pair stood in a grassy field, about a meter away from each other.
Isalda sat in the back watching, her legs crossed. A table was placed right next to her, holding her coffee.
[Cast: Frost Dragon]
From the ground, an ice dragon rose up. Oscar jumped on top of it.
"From the get-go? Jeez... alright."
[Cast: Keruanos]
Jisvo threw a bolt of lightning at Oscar. The dragon soared through the air, evading.
"You've gotten faster, Oscar!" Jisvo yelled out to the sky.
"Thank you!"
"And your control of that form is a lot-"
[Cast: Glacier Spears]
From the air, Oscar started raining down spears of ice on Jisvo. Of course, Jisvo swiftly avoided them all.
Jisvo jumped into the air, meeting with the dragon.
"Boo!"
He axe-kicked the dragon into the ground, along with Oscar.
Although Jisvo didn't have a lot of moves in his arsenal, he knew how to use the ones he had well.
Oscar crashed down.
"Ack!-"
Jisvo descended, his right foot out. Oscar quickly got up, preparing for the attack.
[Cast: Verglas Rising Pillar]
Pillars of ice erected from the ground, but Jisvo shattered through them all.
A direct hit across the face!
"Keuk!"
It sent Oscar into the ground.
...
..
.
"Maybe close range is just my thing."
Oscar stretched, wincing in pain from the strike. He was a little sore.
"Y'know, you're getting better, Oscar. Using that ability of yours."
Isalda chimed in. Oscar smiled, lightly.
"Thanks."
Oscar sat down, taking a sandwich out of his bag. It consisted of beef, cheese, lettuce, and tomato. Jisvo and Isalda eyed his sandwich.
"Who made that for you?" Isalda asked.
"Alize."
"..."
"..."
"What?"
"Is Alize your mom or something?" Isalda asked.
"Really! That's the only girl you talk about."
"She's not my mom. She's just... really nice. And I'm grateful for that, you know?" Oscar said as he took a bite of his sandwich. He felt a fatal glare at his sides.
"Oscar?" a familiar voice said softly, from behind. Oscar turned around.
"Elyse..?"
Behind them, there was a girl who looked about the same age as Oscar. Her hair was pale blonde, tied up in a bun. Her bangs were just barely over her dark purple eyes.
She was dressed much differently from Oscar. While Oscar simply wore a black t-shirt with simple trousers, Elyse was fitted from head to toe, in all black. The coat she wore had a fur hood.
Everyone else was dressed properly, besides Oscar. It was a part of his training, to endure the cold.
Oscar stood up, after seeing Elyse.
"What're you doing here, Elyse?"
"I got your letters, and decided to find you."
It was silent for a bit until Elyse went for a hug.
"It's good to see you!" Elyse smiled, as she went in for the hug. Oscar looked a little confused, looking around. But nonetheless, he hugged her back.
"It's nice to see you too, although... a bit unexpected."
"Is that your girlfriend, Oscar?" Jisvo asked, teasingly. He had a sly smirk on her face. He didn't really care if it was his girlfriend or not. He just wanted to see his reaction.
"No."
"Oh."
Isalda laughed.
"What's so funny?" Jisvo asked, gritting his teeth.
"Oscar only gets flustered when you talk about Alize."
. . .
. .
.
"I saw you training. What're you training for?" Elyse asked.
Elyse sat down on Jisvo's chair, while Jisvo was forced to stand. Something Isalda told him to do. He was not content with it.
"The coronation. I'm gonna be a part of it."
Elyse eyed him up and down, confused.
"Wow. You wanna be a king? Are you even going to be considered for that?" she spoke.
"No, I'm not the one trying to become the leader."
Oscar pointed at Isalda. She was looking up at the sky, with her hands in her pocket, lying down on her seat.
"She's the one trying to become a queen, not me."
"Ah, I see! I heard the king died. Have they caught the murderer yet?"
"...They haven't. But I will. Then I'll kill him.."
The mood shifted all of a sudden, and the air got cold. Oscar's expression didn't change, it was still pretty blank and dull. But his tone was nothing like how he would usually speak. He wasn't making an empty threat. He was telling the truth.
Jisvo and Elyse shivered. Isalda sat there, still resting.
...
..
.
Julian turned around for a second to see Marie, standing behind him. He ignored her, and continued mining.
"Aren't you gonna ask what I'm doing here?" Marie crossed her arms, tapping her foot. She spoke with an annoyed tone.
"I don't care."
Julian swung his pickaxe into the rocks, vigorously. There was a focus in his eyes. Marie sighed, standing on a nearby tree trunk.
"I asked that old man where you were, to come and check on you."
"You know Faustus?" Julian stopped, still not turned around, however.
"Yeah. He helps me scam people."
"Wow. So that's why he changes his appearance..."
Julian continued swinging his pickaxe. The only thing that changed was what he knew about Faustus. Besides that, he kept swinging.
"Faustus knows a lot of people. People that are stronger than you. A scrawny kid like you… I don't understand."
"What kind of businessman would throw away free labor?"
"Good point."
