Chapter 88 - Capture the Albino [1]

The forests were quiet as usual, besides the sudden and random rustling of leaves. Oscar tip-toed, concealing his aura completely, as he ventured through the forest.

He ran his fingers through his pocket, pulling out a crumpled paper. He straightened it out, reading the details. It said he was supposed to catch an Albino orc.

Albino orcs are a rare breed of orcs, commonly born during times of the cold. They are several times stronger than their lesser counterparts. Not only would it be a challenge even finding the albino orc, but it would be especially hard to beat one, considering they travel in packs.

The snow was falling, though all Oscar wore was a light, brown coat, with fur instilled into the hood.

"Jisvo… what kind of mission is this…?" he muttered to himself, spitefully. There was an increase in rustling.

Out of the snowy leaves, a wolf jumped out.

Oscar quickly reacted, pulling his dagger out. He clashed with the wolf's sharp fangs. Its saliva dribbled onto Oscar.

"Ew!" Oscar pushed the wolf off him.

A relatively large wolf, with cyan eyes. He looked oddly similar to Oscar, in a way. White fur, with streaks of light blue in it.

Oscar raised his dagger. Tightly, he held onto it.

Now, Oscar had two choices. He could either activate his ice or not activate his ice.

If he didn't activate his ice, or as Jisvo named it, "Esoterik" there was a chance that he would lose the battle.

However, if he did end up activating his Esoterik, his mana would be drained pretty quickly.

Oscar didn't have much time to think. He decided not to use it.

Three more wolves came out from the shadows, with the same intent.

With all that mana training, Oscar's combat skills had become sluggish.

[Cast: Ice Zone]

The surrounding area became cold, but the wolves charged at him.

[Cast: Ice Shard]

A crystal-shaped block of ice floated in the air, right above Oscar's palm. It was no longer a mere shard, like before.

He threw the shard. It shattered into multiple pieces. But only a few of them hit. And, they didn't even do that much damage.

"These little wolves are a lot tougher than I expected… Will I have to…?"

There was no time to think. The first wolf leaped at him, inflicting damage. He plunged his claws deep into Oscar's arm, scratching down.

"Ack!" Oscar yelled, kicking the wolf off.

[Cast: ???]

Oscar underestimated the wolves, and that was a bad mistake. His left arm was now futile, for now.

His skin became pale, and a strange chill formed around him. The wolves noticed this change but didn't care much about it.

Two wolves charged at him at the same.

[Cast: Frostfire Slash]

Oscar gripped his dagger tightly, swiping at the nearest wolf's neck. It wasn't a deep cut, but the cold-inducing fire was enough to put the dog down.

One down.

Oscar was serious, now. Before, he was a lot more lax, and carefree. But he finally recognized the wolves as a threat. Some kind of intense killing intent must have been pouring out from Oscar since a reluctance could be seen in the eyes of the wolves.

But, their hunger was much stronger than their fear. So they dashed at him.

Oscar pulled a second dagger from his pocket, biting it

'If only I had brought a longer sword.'

[Cast: Freeze Step]

He moved from side to side, sprinting at the three wolves.

He stabbed into one. As quickly as the dagger entered the wolf's gut, it was pulled back out. But it was far too shallow.

He slit the ankles of the second wolf's back left leg. A loud howl was let out.

[Cast: Glacier Spear]

A spear made out of ice formed in the air, next to Oscar. It zipped toward the third wolf, narrowly missing. It gave the wolf a bit of a haircut.

"S-so… quick!"

"M-my legs! This human is dangerous!"

"That was way too close!"

If the wolves could speak, they would be saying that. But they can't. They only whimpered, fearfully of what Oscar's next attack would be.

But again, they were just mutts. It's not like they knew what they were going up against. They just saw Oscar as meat. And meat should be eaten.

But as quickly as they could form a thought, their heads were detached.

Two quick movements. Like swooping in, almost.

Oscar held his dagger with an icepick grip, charging at the wolves while they were unfocused.

Quickly, he decapitated one, by moving behind it and pressing the blade into its neck. An attack so fast, that the blood did not squirt out until seconds later.

The second one died just as quickly. It was an almost similar manner. Decapitation from behind. Though, this time, Oscar cut in a saw motion with his dagger.

Oscar dropped down, panting. It seems like he exerted too much energy. He felt his consciousness fading in and out. Then, it all went black.
