Chapter 8 - Chapter 06

Now that Kuta had been revealed to be a mage there was a sudden shift in how her family thought about her overall. Seems like they never saw her as a member of the family at all. In fact, it was properly safe to say that no one in the room really saw anyone there as members of their family. The Sabre family was that in name only as they had become so ingrained in a life dedicated to the blade and the blade alone. Familiar ties did not exist within this group as they were not a family so much they were more akin to students in a dojo where everyone wields a blade.

The Sabre name was merely what the headmaster of the dojo was called. It was the last name to the general public but to those within the family, it was just a title thus why those that were not considered worthy of the title either did not have a last name or it was closest related to the type of blade they were a master of.

Kuta was no longer considered a member in fact despite being literally her biological father and everyone there being her blood relative they were starting to disown her mentally.

"Correct as Spellblade is a mage thus her title is a rather fitting one" Kuta's father informed them all.

"Why have you started to refer to Spellblade by only her title," another Sabre weapon master asked him

"Is not it obvious as we can not have a mage in our family as that is a known fact to everyone thus Spellblade is not my daughter" he told them

"I see as you are replacing her but your daughter is beyond talented how would she be replaced so easily," the same Sabre weapon master asked.

"It was hard but I managed to find a replacement of course her title will change as they will not remain with Spellblade going forward" Kuta's father informed them.

"It was a good thing that we kept the title within the family only as the general public is not aware she is even has a title yet. The reasoning being becoming a weapon master in skill might have no age limit but for the overall general public, there is one" a Sabre mace master stated.

Kuta had not realized but she had actually tested her skills against anyone other than family members her entire life. The Sabre family was far larger than she was aware of. It was not a singular family that progressed through the ages at all. It was a vast network of families that branched off from the child that earn the last name of Sabre for each generation. Thus some were part of the Sabre family and those that earn the right to the last name for themselves.

The children of every previous generation of the Sabre family since the second generation would fight each other for the honor and privilege to bare the family name going forward. Kuta's father had earned the right to bear the family name out of all his siblings. Making him the official Sabre of this generation, though Kuta was an only child her skill at such an age would have ensured that she would be the bearer of the Sabre name for her own generation. That is why she was already known as Kuta Sabre to everyone in the family. She also was not informed of the truth behind the name of Sabre nor that Spellblade was not her official title as swordmaster either.

"So the matter of your daughter is settled so are we going to do with Spellblade then," a Sabre branch member asked.

"I have people working on that as she going to be out of my hair pretty soon. To think that she managed to turn both her swords and arms into her wand though" her soon to be former father stated.

"Can not wait to see how your daughter will compare to us now that she is a legit swordmaster" another branch member said.

"Rough around the edges but a true diamond in the rough and rather than pretender," Sabre said.

Kuta did not know it yet but it was at this moment that she had been disowned and replaced by her father and everyone else in her family. They did not want her anymore the moment they discovered she was a mage. Never thought that she might be one but she has raised her entire life as a weapon user thus she only knew how to wield a blade as her family motto and traditions dictated. She did not cheat or take advantage of any loopholes as she trained her body and mind to work as a weapon user to the point where she replicate what she could not do naturally.

As for them referring to her metallic arms as her wands. That was just a general term that mages used to lump all the tools they used to channel their magic into and through. A wand did not just refer to the wood rod that more traditional mages liked to use. A wand was just a tool thus it could actually be anything the mage wanted in reality as they were not limited to what their wand could end up being. Just like how weapon users were not restricted to only using various types of swords.

Her swords were now considered her wands as that is what happened to mages over time. They pour their mana into something over time that would then become their wand once they came of age. Weapon users were able to learn their craft far earlier since they did not require a focus to help them release their magic form. Wandless magic was possible but not as effective thus mages were taught to pick something that meant a lot to them and once they reach the proper age when it would become their focus and can be used as their wands from that point onwards.
