Chapter 5 - DESTINY'S DEATH

Julius with fierce in his eyes looked at Cynthia and her gang but he couldn't say a word. He walked away in other not to make it obvious that he was trying to help Juliet because it's unlike him.

Cynthia and her gang ran away because they know what Julius is capable of doing.

Can you see what you guys lead me into? Cynthia said

But you agreed to do it, said Esther.

Guys, don't let us fight about these, we have to beg Julius, said Deborah.

Ok, Cynthia said.

Unfortunately, Julius was at their back.

Beg who? Julius shouted

Cynthia and her gang started shaking in fear.

You stained  my clothes, Julius said as Esther cuts in.

But it was that demon, Esther said.

Was it not Cynthia that kicked her? And who are you to talk when am talking? Julius said

We are sorry…. Cynthia said humbly.

Sorry my foot ! You this unfortunate being! Julius shouted

Just think about what you can do to appeal for your immoral acts, Julius said as he walks away.

James on the other hand took Juliet by her hand to a room that only Julius and James can assess. He sat Juliet down.

Why can't you put on some action? Why are you so easy to deal with? People are calling you a demon just on your first day of resumption but you couldn't talk back, are you are fool or what? James said in anger as Janet walked in

Why won't you leave this newbie alone? What the problem with you and James? She just came today and she is already smelling hell, why can't you give her a break at least? Janet said as she took Juliet away.

On there way back to class, the closing bell rang. Davis already took Janet's bag to her while Rachel also brought Juliet's bag. They moved out of the school together. Juliet's motorcyclist is already waiting for her with her younger brother.

Why are you making us wait for ages? Juliet's brother said

Am sorry, Juliet replied as they mount the motorcycle and held home.

How was your new school? Grandmother asked.

Very interesting and loving, Juliet's brother said.

What about you Juliet? Grandmother asked

Grandma! I want a change of school or go back to Abuja,it just so frustrating, Juliet said

You are going nowhere and I won't  change your school, grandmother replied

What! I can't stay in that school. it just an example of hell, Juliet said.

Where you not the one that was eager to school in Lagos? Juliet's  brother said

You better shut up! Juliet shouted

Why all these? Now let me give you a very good illustration. Grandmother said.

When a new fish was placed into a new pond that already has up to five fishes before, what will happen to the new fish? Grandmother asked.

The other fishes will attack it. Juliet's brother said

Wow! You are such an intelligent boy. Yes, they will, but do you know what may happen to the fish?

Either it fight back or it dies, Juliet said

Yes, that it. So also is your school. It is either you fight back or you die. Grandmother said.

Die in what sense? Will they kill me? Juliet asked.

No they can't but they can do so by damaging your future and that is called destiny's death, grandmother said.

That so deep, Juliet's brother said

I don't known your situation but a soldier can not be victorious with a battle. So this your own battle. Fight it and you will later see how interesting it was to pass through it, grandmother said.

Ok ma, Juliet replied.

Grandma! Am super hungry, Juliet's brother said.

Your food is in the kitchen, my dear, grandmother said.

Juliet could not eat but was just debating on what her grandmother said and what happened. Then she recurred James statement. All these was on her mind till she slept.

After the assembly the following day, Juliet walked up to James.

Can I see you a minute? Juliet said

Yes, James replied as they both walked out of the class.

How may I help you? James said

You told me to put on some actions but can you help me out? Juliet asked.

In what way? James asked

Anyway you can please, Juliet begged.

Is this your first time in Lagos? James asked.

Yes, I came last week, Juliet replied.

Ohh! That why you have been behaving like a novice, James said.

I beg your pardon, Juliet replied.

It just a joke anyway, James said.

Ok, Juliet said

I will help you anyway. Just call on me when you need help. I will be right by you, James said.

Ok Thanks, am really grateful, Juliet said.

They both walked back to the class, talking and laughing. The whole class was shocked seeing James and Juliet smiling together.

Why will you be smiling with this jerk that was harsh on you yesterday? Janet asked.

Me! Jerk! I was just trying to .. James said as Janet cuts in

Yes, you are a jerk. Can't you just leave her alone? Anyway, she is a demon to you. Janet said.

I never called her a demon. It was Julius that did so. Why are you talking it up on me?  She is my friend. Why will I call her a demon? James said

It's ok Janet. James is my friend. He never called me a demon. It was that jerk over there that did, said Juliet as she said the last part silently referring to Julius.

Do you know I can hear you? Julius said.

And so what? Juliet replied.

The whole class was shocked.

Wait who do you think you are? I have never met you before but you just put in on to be mad at me. What have I done to you? Juliet said as she shouted.

I hate you! I hate your appearance, everything about you. The only thing you can do for me is to leave this school! Julius said.

Why should I? Do you own this school? Or is it because you are the best student so you can do whatever you like. Do you know what I will leave only if you came out as  the best again this term. Juliet said.

The whole class was shocked.

But exam is next week? How will you cover up? You just came yesterday, Rachel said.

Don't worry that not a problem. I want to show this person here that he is nothing but a local champion, Juliet said.

Wait, can you even do better than James not to talk of Julius, a student in the class said as everyone laughed to scorn Juliet.

Why can't you just wait and see, Juliet said with boldness.

I will never back down. You said it yourself and all the class witnessed it, Julius said.

Yes, of course, Juliet said courageously.
