Chapter 15 - Chapter 15

After the unforgettable dinner he had with Lilly a few days ago, their connection grew stronger than ever. They kept in touch constantly, sharing their daily moments, dreams, and fears. It was a relationship that seemed to deepen with every text, call, and stolen moment together.

Alex, however, made sure to keep their budding romance a secret from his employees.

He didn't want anyone to think he was biased or giving special treatment because of their relationship. It remained their little secret. He always sent her food snacks at the office, he always called her into her office at any chance he got.

he was getting so addicted to her, he would always send her romantic gift at home, most times when his not so busy he would drop her off at home, those little gestures always made her heart flutter.

One sunny afternoon, Alex sat in his office, engrossed in work when an unexpected call interrupted his focus.

He answered abruptly, expecting it to be one of his clients or a business associate. However, the voice on the other end held news that instantly darkened his face. It was his assistant who followed him on a business trip, he wasn't just a regular assistant he was more of a hidden agent.

"Mr. Dunbar, I believe I've found the car that was involved in the hit and run incident that led to the accident you told me about a few years ago" a gravelly voice revealed, masking a mix of concern and determination.

Alex's heart skipped a beat, and his mind transported him back to that dreadful night. The memory of his helpless mother lying motionless on the cold floor of the road while the heavy rain drenched her lifeless body flooded his thoughts.

It had been years, and although the pain had dulled with time, the underlying desire for revenge never waned. Countless sleepless nights were spent wondering who would be so heartless to plot such an evil thing for his mother, but he wasn't going to give up till he found out who was the cold blood person.

With a voice choked with emotion, Alex managed to respond, "Are you certain? After all this time, how did you find it? Did you find the driver?".

The voice on the other end exuded confidence and reassured Alex, "Mr. Anderson, my team has been tirelessly investigating this case. It didn't take us a few weeks to trace the vehicle, and we finally succeeded. We've located the car, but the search for the driver is still ongoing. We wanted to inform you as soon as possible."

A mixture of relief and anticipation washed over Alex. Finally, there was a glimmer of hope, a chance to find closure for his mother's death and hold the responsible party accountable. He thanked the caller and promised to meet them in person to discuss the details further.

As he hung up the phone, Alex's mind raced, caught between hope and anguish. He couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude towards the person on the other line. Maybe, just maybe, they were one step closer to finding the answers they had been seeking for.

Though his heart lightened with the hope of resolution, he hadn't yet told her anything related to his family, he was thinking of how to tell her. She had been so supporting him despite knowing he was hiding a lot from her, he was the light sent to his dark life, a hope he could hold on to.

After a moment of internal struggle, Alex decided he needed to tell her, if he wanted this relationship to be clean and pure. He took a deep breath and dialed Lilly's number. As the phone rang, he found himself growing nervous, unsure of how to tell her about himself, he had never shared his experience with anyone before, she was going to be the first.

"Hey, Alex. What's up?" Lilly's cheerful voice greeted him, unaware of the turmoil brewing in his soul.

"Hey, Lilly. Can we meet during lunch? I have something important to share with you," he said, his voice tinged with a hint of anxiety.

Concern laced Lilly's response. "Of course, is everything alright?" She looks at her watch, "I am free now how about we meet up in the nearby cafe".

"Okay" the call ended and he left his office, it was only a few minutes walk to the cafe, when he got there, he saw her waving at him, he went towards her and sat opposite her, the waiter offered them coffee and left, but Lilly saw the awful look on his face, she knew instantly something might have happened.

"Alex, is everything alright?"

Alex paused briefly, gathering his thoughts before replying, "I know I have told you nothing about me, and it is not right, I should have told you".

Lilly stretched her hand and took his hands pressing it softly, "it alright, we all have dark memories we don't wanna remember, I haven't told you about mine either, so you don't have to apologize". She smiled at him.

He breathed in relief seeing her being so understanding, melting his heart, but he didn't know where exactly to start from. "Kyle isn't my real brother" he paused to see the shocked expression on her face, he knew she had questions but she just let him keep going "I was adopted by his father, after he rescued him on the road, on the night of my mother's death, we were hit by a car, I lost my mother, that night it was Kyle's father who saved my life and brought me up".

Lilly stared at him with emotions swirling in her eyes, she was at the brink of crying, "so it was a hit and run incident now"

"Yes, and I dang have my memories from childhood, just some free fragments, I only found out that my Father is Oliver the Qin".

My eyes widened in surprise, "wait you mean, the owner of Qin enterprise is your father?"

"Yes, but right now I have made a new breakthrough on my mother's case of the hit and run car, they have found it". He said with slight hope in his eyes.

"Lilly smiled at him and held his hand tighter "I'll always be there for you, we will get through this together, and make sure those responsible for this get what they deserve" she smiles at him.

At that moment, Alex knew he was blessed to have someone like Lilly by his side. Her unwavering support and understanding were invaluable, providing him with the strength he needed to face the challenges ahead.
