June's POV
After leaving the cafeteria, we parted ways as the boys went towards the field. I wonder what exactly are they going there to do as it isn't even time for practice.
Goodness,
It probably has something to do with Luka's injury. Internally facepalming, that brute is trying to avoid my questioning him. It probably is something I shouldn't know about. Although I knew Luka was lying, I didn't say so as he probably has his reasons. I intended to ask Xander but him dodging me means it isn't something he should tell me. I should just mind my business to avoid putting him in a tight spot.
"Wow, you guys really did take pranking to a different level." I looked towards my right seeing Luen and Ryan laughing at the story of a childhood prank which Luen recounted. I looked at Ryan who seemed to be laughing hard at the story.
"We did but compared to me, June is at a higher level when it comes to pranking." Luen said grinning while Ryan turned to look at me making our eyes meet for a few seconds.
"Really?" She asked Luen who nodded smiling.
I really did love playing pranks when I was little but I can't say I'm as good as Luen claims. They were just harmless pranks I did for humour like once when I made mum think she was losing hair, her reaction was priceless. Mr Calvin who liked intimidating children was so scared when he found spiders in his drawer, he left the class and didn't return till the spiders were removed and gosh, he didn't even make use of the drawer for months.
Reminiscing those memories made me laugh and want to go back to when I was little but it's been quite a long while since I pranked anyone.
"So where are we headed now?" I heard Ryan ask as I turned to look at her.
"The library to pick some books before going to class." I answered.
"Ohh! So.. you are like a science inclined student right?" She asked looking at me, eyes gleaming with interest.
Smiling,
"And why would you think that?" I asked
"Well, you do seem like the science type to me actually." She said with a shrug.
"Not really, I love jewelry designing so except that's a science inclined course, then you're right." I said with a smile.
"Ohh!" She said before an awkward silence followed as we moved up the stairs towards the library.
Bzzt bzzt.
The sudden sound of a phone vibrating was easily heard in the pin drop silence.
"Uhm, I'll go take this call and meet you guys later." Ryan said as she excused herself.
"Yeah, sure." I answered before Luen and I continued towards the library.
After contemplating for a while, I turned looking at Luen as we entered into the library.
"What do you think of Ryan?" I asked the question I've been dying to ask since earlier.
"Ryan? Well, I don't know but she seems nice. Why do you ask?" Luen asked with a look of curiosity as we moved towards a book shelf.
"Nothing really, just asked." I said with a shrug as I tried to end the topic. Luen gave me a 'I don't believe you face'.
"You and I both know that when you ask about a person, something is bothering you. We've been friends long enough for me to know that so spit it out already." She said with a serious face leaving me contemplating on if I should tell her or not. After much thought,
"So, this might just be my assumption I don't know but I feel like she isn't just here for schooling. Like she has an ulterior motive and I'm just getting bad vibes from her." I explained my reasons for asking as it has been weighing me down.
"Hmm, okay. Did you like have any experience that could have prompted you to think so?" She asked causing my brows to furrow as I thought back.
"No, not really. Although the first time we met, I also felt same like she was giving off this hostile vibe towards me." I said as I remembered that day at the mall.
"Why didn't you tell me about it then?" She asked brows furrowed.
"As I said, it was just a feeling. I wasn't sure and I couldn't just go around saying something that is probably wrong." I answered as we went through the book shelves picking out the books we needed.
"That's right, although I know your instincts are usually right, you are probably just overthinking. I mean she barely knows you, why hold a grudge?" She reasoned as I gave her words a thought.
"You're probably right, I'm just overthinking." I said with a slight smile.
"Mm, but just to be on the safe side, we'll be wary and not too open." She said with a serious face making me laugh.
"You know that advice should be for you right?" I said to her while stifling a laugh as we could not afford to be noisy and she just pouted making me laugh lightly.
"Okay, we've gotten all the books, let's get to class already." I said hooking our arms together as we went towards the librarians table to record the books we took before stepping out to the class.
Xander's POV
"Bro chill, why did you drag me out here to the field. It isn't even close to practice time." Luka said as he walked to catch up to my pace.
"You had better shut up if you want that lie of yours to remain a secret." I said to Luka and he just looked at me like an idiot.
Rolling my eyes, I came to a halt when I felt we've gone far enough.
"What do you think, June doesn't believe your incredible story." I said as I looked at him with fake disdain.
"How...?" I didn't even let him finish before adding.
"The fact that Luen fell for it doesn't mean others would believe you besides I told you it was a horrible story. I can't even imagine how you came up with that." I said with mockery in eyes.
"So is that why you dragged me out here?" He asked as he looked at me.
"Why else. If I had stayed there, I would have told June the truth. Have she ever looked at you when she's suspicious?" I asked and shuddered as I remembered her squinting at me when I said we were headed to the field.
I was dragged out of my reverie when I heard Luka laughing. I turned towards him clearly confused as to why he was laughing.
"Dude, you are afraid of a girl? Ahh this is divine, wait till Mitch hears about this." He said as he continued laughing.
Baka
Scoffing, "Says the one who was panicking and trying to explain himself to his girlfriend minutes ago. Tsk, that slap you got on your head was amazing. Wait till Mitch hears about it." I said with a mocking smile on my face while his laughter seized as a frown appeared on his face much to my satisfaction.
"Are you even my friend? At times I wonder how we became friends when you are such a bad person." He said as he looked at me with a scowl on his face.
"Ohh, I didn't know we are friends." I said feigning ignorance as a smirk kissed my face making him scoff.
Making my way towards the locker room, I turned to look at him.
"You had better thank me and behave if you want to be safe." I said with a grin on my face
"Thank you my foot." He said with a pissed expression as he followed me to the locker room, shoving me aside as he kept on walking ahead. Smiling, I ran towards him and placed my hands across his shoulder.
"You can't be that pissed, we are best buds remember?" I said with a smile on my face as I wriggled my brows.
"Ew, get lost." He said as he removed my hands from his shoulder and walked faster as though a grim reaper were after him.
