The butcher looked at Mangus and turned silent and after a few seconds of contemplation he let out a sigh.
'If I don't sell the bird now, who knows if its condition might worsen, it's better to get something out of it instead nothing." The butcher thought.
Magnus smiled looking at his expression.
'My technique is working on him.'
"Ok, boy, take it, but remember that there would be no refunds!" The butcher reminded him of sternly.
Magnus nodded at him and took the cage from his hand.
"Pleasure doing business with you." He said with a sneaky smile on his face.
"Hahaha... It's always a pleasure doing business." The butcher laughed and looked at Magnus with a sneer on his face.
'This boy is so stupid, can't even tell if there is a disease contaminating the bird. I fooled him today!' There was a satisfied gleam in his eyes as he thought about it.
Magnus then turned around and left the shop, he was happy with his purchase, not only he saved money on the bird, he even got a cage for free.
'This cage is not normal.'
Magnus looked at the cage and remembered from his memories that the cage also worked as a trap.
It could be opened and placed, and if a beast activated its spring, then it would close rapidly, capturing the beast in succession.
Magnus remembered that one of these cages would cost around ten copper coins alone.
"This cage would also be helpful." He thought and moved towards his small hut.
Sitting on the straw mat he looked inside the cage, he could spot the majestic bird sitting there with its life surrendered.
An evil smile formed on his face and he activated his subliminal mind control technique.
The familiar itching feeling moved through his throat, reminding him that the technique has been activated.
"You are my loyal salve that does everything I say." He said while looking at the bird.
"You are my loyal salve that does everything I say." He repeated.
He knew that even the small beetle needed ten repetitions for it to take effect.
He continued repeating his words and only when he did so twenty times, he de-activated his technique.
"Peck the cage," Magnus ordered.
However, no reaction came from the bird, it looked at Magnus like it was looking at someone stupid.
Magnus sighed and started repeating his words again.
"You are my loyal slave that does everything I say."
.
.
.
.
This time he didn't stop at forty or sixty, he repeated the same words till hundred times.
And finally, he deactivated his technique.
"Peck the cage." He ordered again.
And this time as the bird heard him, it moved its beak and pecked the iron cage.
A smile formed on Magnus's face when he witnessed it.
"Peck the cage again." He ordered this time to make sure that it wasn't a fluke.
And just like the last time, the Black-Tailed Sparrow pecked at the cage again.
"Hahaha... It finally worked." He raised his hand in excitement and let out a hearty laugh, he was finally successful in controlling the Black Tailed Sparrow.
"Now I don't have to worry about the food anymore. I will use this bird to catch as many fishes as I want."
He knew that Black-tailed sparrows were experts at catching fish out of water.
Standing up he moved towards the cage and was about to open it, however he stopped.
"Roll around." He ordered while swirling his finger in front of the bird.
This was to make sure that the bird hasn't just pecked the cage coincidentally twice.
And just as he expected, the bird took a three-sixty turn in the small cage and soon faced Magnus.
He signed that everything was ok and the bird was following its orders.
After that, his fingers moved on the metal cage, and clicking a bit he finally opened it.
The cage sprang open and lay in front of Magnus.
In the middle of the cage, the bird stood looking at Magnus, with its eyes waiting for the next order.
"Sit here."Jack pointed at his shoulder.
As soon as the bird heard his words its winds spanned open majestically in the small room and taking a small flight it landed on Magnus's shoulder.
The bird rested its back wings and then looked at Magnus again.
Magnus smiled and moved toward the window, he opened it slightly, and soon as he did so a small beetle flew inside and sat on his other shoulder.
"Go, take this bird to the river. I will meet you guys there." Magnus said to the beetle.
The beetle understood his words nodded and flew out from the window again.
The Black-Tailed Sparrow looked at Magnus and after confirming his orders it also flew and followed the small beetle.
Magnus saw both of them departing toward the river bank and nodded in satisfaction.
Soon he also moved out of his room while tieing a big cloth around its waist.
He then also moved towards the river with excited steps.
As he reached the river he looked above, at the sky and saw the bird and the beetle were flying above him.
"You are back? Look I caught a fish." Ronan stood up from his place and said to Magnus while showing his catch with an excited look.
For these slum people even catching a single fish was a big deal for them. This means that they would at least be able to pay back Old Wang as a single fish was sold at ten copper coins in the market.
Magnus Smiled at Ronan and nodded. "That is great." He said.
Ronan on the other hand looked at Jack with a proud expression on his face.
In the last three days this was their first catch.
"By the way, where were you all this time? And where is you equipment?" Ronan's gaze landed on Magnus's hand and he noticed that the Old Wang's bag was not present there.
"Don't tell me that you lost the bag?! Old Wang would kill you!" Ronan said with a worried expression on his face.
