MESSING WITH MY HEAD

"Richmond! Wake up"

He felt a hand, tapping his face, forcing him to open his eyes, slightly.

He was transported from his sister's doll house to an enchanted forest, golden leaves covered the top of a big trees. Green mosses covered the big rocks that laid, unmoving, they scattered around the place.

The entire forest had a gentle glow that was not too much but very calm yet beautiful. He could hear the sound of water coming from a stream nearby, insects and birds chirping happily. His mind, calm.

His eyes were slightly opened. He noticed his head was resting on an object, curious, he looked up.

A familiar face was staring at him, her brown hair, let down, encasing like little waves around her head, little flowers enveloped her hair as a crown, her green eyes flashing on him just like his sister's.

Her entire body was covered in green leaves, woven intricately to resemble an handless gown. It suited her and she looked radiantly beautiful, even more than she was when she was still living, her face was glowing with soft light, the same soft light that filled the forest. Her feet were bare but she seem less concerned about it.

Confused, "Mom! What is happening right now? Why are you here?"

"You're supposed to be dead, but here you are looking like a queen of the amazons "

He looked around the area, disoriented. Looking down at his body, his clothes were no longer a cream jacket and green shorts, green leaves covering his upper body like a shirt and leaves covering from his waist to his thighs similar to briefs, his feet were shoeless, little twigs were making their presence known under his feet.

"What a strange place! How did I get here," he thought.

The woman placed her hand on her son's back gently, she was happy to see him once again even though he was a bit confused, she wanted to hug him and make him tell her stories of his life, how he survived without her and his sister Sheila, but his life was going to be cut short if he remains with her.

"You need to wake up Richmond," the woman said, her voice, calm and smooth.

Richmond eyes creased in confusion, "wake up? I am already awake but what sort of magic is this, teleporting me from one realm to another"

"You are lost in your mind and it brought you to the place I reside for now, Richmond,"

Richmond, once again looked around, "you live here, I thought if people die, they go to heaven or hell"

The woman sighed resignedly, "don't be silly Richmond, we are not fully humans, we don't adhere to the rules placed on their human souls, but that is not the issue right now"

"Listen, your soul is getting corrupt by the day. The more the darkness consume your mind, the more you get bloodthirsty. There is nothing I can do to help you, but I have to warn you, there is a seed growing in the Breeder, you need to save the seed before the darkness that plagues you, corrupt it"

"Seed! What seed? I am not a farmer mom, just speak in plain words that my half human mind can understand, who is the seed?"

"You have to sort it out by yourself Richmond but for now, wake up, don't let the darkness take over," her voice was getting frantic as she spoke.

"What do you mean by wake up? I am talking to you, am I not?"

"You need to wake up, if not you are going to die and it is not yet your time to leave the human realm," her green eyes filled with worry.

He has always known his mother to be a straight forward person, it's like death has made her a seer that speak in riddles, he didn't understand anything she was saying. Her words were like mystery to him.

He just have to find a way out of this place, how did I get here? He thought.

The woman sighed, getting frustrated with her son, he was just looking around without making a move to leave, she closed her eyes in concentration, white sparks of electricity gathered in her hands, her brown hair became white as the power flowed over her body, "Richmond, you have been warned. The darkness is coming for the seed. Also, tell your father, I love him and I miss him, both of you."

Her voice, echoed loudly, filling the place. Richmond was thrown into a rumbling vortex of power as he was pushed, unwillingly.

There was so much he needed to talk to his mother about, he wanted to ask her about Sheila, how she was coping, he wanted to hug her and tell her to come back to the mansion with him but unseen force was tugging at him. Even with his strength, he couldn't defeat it .

He opened his eyes, he couldn't talk neither could he breathe. Water covered his entire body, he was at the bottom of the lake, his legs were already touching the sand inside the lake, he was drowning.

He quickly pushed his body using his hands and his legs out of the lake. He greedily gulped in oxygen, immediately, he was freed.

It was already late in the night, if his calculations were right, that means he had spent more than two hours in the lake and he didn't drown.

No wonder his mom was pressurizing him to return, Everything felt strange to Richmond, from his visitation to the past and the encounter with his dead mother, it felt real at the same time, weird.

But what seed is she talking about? He thought to himself.

His clothes were still in the place, he kept them, he put them on. His mind, was clouded with the day's encounters. Something was brewing, he didn't know exactly what it was but he could feel it in every fiber of his being.

He walked, going in the direction of his home, as he got to the edge of the forest, a sly voice whispered in his ears, "Beware of the darkness within the cursed one," the voice laughed maniacally before fading away, it was a small voice yet filled with pure evil and unimaginable malice.

Startled, Richmond turned around, facing the forest, "Who was that? show yourself, you coward" He said, his stance, intimidating and eager to tear into the offender.

But there was no reply, just the sound of the night animals, going about their businesses.

Everything is trying to mess with his head today, he thought.

Richmond felt more bewildered, he knew his life was going to change but he doesn't know how bad, it will change.
