"Woahhh, Look at that, hey Arthas what's that over there, Oh and there too. That's a lot of stuff being displayed. Wow"
"Hey, can we please go to where the marketplace is? We are kinda running out of time."
"What's the rush the night is alive, the lights are bright and all the citizens are bustling with might, hehe"
"Don't be poetic or anything just please Alicia, just tell me where it is."
"Just kidding, I'm just messing with you, the marketplace is just down ahead. Do you know what you want to buy?"
In the night when the festive occasion was bursting with life, they both walked downtown to find the marketplace as they went through crowds, Arthas noticed that there were a lot of people staring at them. He wasn't sure if he was getting checked out, or her new friend, Alicia.
'The cloak must've been too conspicuous huh'
Before running towards the city, he realized that he needed new clothes considering the one he was wearing now should be weird and literally, out of this world. So he quickly turned back halfway and asked Moltar for clothes and happily gave him what he needed. He also left Maria behind just in case they needed help and it seems the adults not just the children, liked the presence of her and her help.
Arthas looked around and paused for a while before answering Alicia.
"...Well, to be honest, I don't know what to buy. But I'll see what I can do with the money they gave me"
"So, Arthas, tell me how did you meet with the villagers? You don't seem to be around these parts"
"You seem to be an awfully curious individual. Aren't you being too presumptuous?"
"Am I?"
"Are you?"
They both became deadly silent after that engagement and just looked at each other with blank stares trying to size up each other. People continued to pass by while their silence encompassed their own little world.
'Is he really gonna play tough? Who is this guy?' Alicia thought as she watched him with caution.
Arthas breathed a heavy sigh before responding to her question in a forced manner. "I am a wanderer, I walk the world to explore, and finish the quest that was conditioned upon me, well tax stipulation. I encountered the village under attack and help them from their predicament, sounds good?"
"Mhm…Yeah," Alicia responded in a soft voice, a murmur that only the two of them can hear.
"Dissatisfied?"
"Confused"
"About what?"
"Everything"
"What?"
Arthas stared at her with intensity as he was annoyed about her being a curious cat. They were slowly approaching the marketplace and he saw that their own chitty chat would end soon and he was relieved that it would be.
"To start off Arthas, the village that was led by…eh, Mal, Mel…Moltar was it, has the capability and power to protect themselves from any Village class monsters, they might even defeat at least 20 all at once if they fully commit, but that's not the point. If something really wanted to destroy them, it should be a battalion or a class above to be able to properly destroy them."
"Yeah, so what's the thing that's bothering you?" Confused, Arthas asked.
"If they weren't able to fight it properly and a lot of people were killed…How powerful are you to let that strict and stern Moltar trust you with money and his clothes"
"Stern and strict? I didn't see that from him and my prowess in battle must be kept confidential so, no, thank you and his clothes why is it important?"
"I see, you must be quite a firepower for him to acknowledge you"
"Ugh, Let's just get this over with so I can leave"
Arthas switched to brisk walking as he had enough of her questions. Alicia followed behind him chasing him from walking fast, too fast that it seemed like Arthas was running away.
"Hey, Wait. Can I at least ask you something?"
"Are you really this friendly to everyone?" Arthas asked in a cold voice but it just passed through her.
"What do you think about my second-in-command, Arthas" Her voice and words raised a bit so that she can be heard even though they were a few feet apart from each other.
"What? How did you come to that conclusion? That's stupid honestly"
"Forgive me for the late introduction. My name is Captain Alicia Blanche, daughter of the Duke of the White House. I have been assigned here in hopes to gain experience, I am a newly appointed captain and the position for being my second-in-command is open. I am looking for someone strong and I hope you take it into consideration, Arthas"
Alicia became stiff as he observed seriousness from her, she placed her right-hand palm on her chest right where the heart was placed, she salutes Arthas with pride and joy as she spoke to him.
'Second-in-command? I don't know how the chain of command works here but I think it's like being an assistant.'
"No, but thank you for the offer though. I must get going, thank you for bringing me here, I think it's time for you to go as well"
Arthas looked towards Alicia, specifically behind her back he was looking. She looked back and saw two soldiers that she knew were under her uncle's command. And that she was called for something important.
"Ah…Yes, Thank you for today Arthas. Enjoy your stay at Alcemia, I give condolences that died in the village and I wish you luck on your Journey. Goodbye"
"Yes…"
Alicia began to walk away and slowly approached the soldiers.
"Wait, before you go let me tell you something"
"Yes?" Alicia was confused as to why he suddenly called for her.
"It's best if you get out of this city, something is gonna happen. Big, scary, and frighteningly horrid."
"Thank you, I'll keep it in mind"
Alicia walked towards the soldiers looking depressed and pale, she said to them that they should not let her uncle wait. They walked off towards the distance and soon they were lost in the crowd. Arthas just stood there looking at them dazed and confused.
Looking back at it now, he was quite guilty of shutting her down, but it had to happen he didn't want to meet new people yet, much more friends. He turned around and walked toward one of the stalls that were in the marketplace
There were a lot of stalls set up with joyful smiles on their faces. He didn't as to why they were so happy, but he knows that something bad would happen eventually. He needed to get all that he can.
'Now that she's out of the way. The first priority is meat and vegetables.'
Although Arthas wasn't well knowledgeable about going to the market, he first made sure what they were selling. To his surprise, almost everything was oddly the same but distinctly different.
There were carrots that were color red, plants that resembles vegetables in varying colors, and many more. The biggest surprise was that the meat, there were living animals that were displayed near their stalls as to promote its freshness and was almost identical to the livestock on Earth with the only difference being having multiple horns on their head.
Once more, he was shocked by the fact that the language used on the signs was English. He fully understood what they meant and saying.
'I thought it was just the system translating everything to English, but apparently, that doesn't seem to be the case. They are speaking English…and their writings are all in English. What's going on?'
Arthas leaned closer to the sign so as to properly read it without any misconceptions or confusion. When he read the signs it was all English, he internally panicked and began to take a look around.
Looking at the sign, it read "Crowned-Cows here for sale", he couldn't believe it. It was the same and it sound fluid as well.
'There's more to this than I thought. It's all English what does this mean? Are there other reincarnations here in this world as well? Where are they? What happened in this world?'
More questions began to pop up from his head and dealt a blow to his mentality. Nevertheless, he got his grip back and began to think about his priorities, he needs food and supplies for everyone in the village, at most he thinks he would spend ¾ of how much is in this bag and see if it would be able to feed the village.
With a final glance behind him, he remembered the White Haired Girl with a strong radiant pair of eyes, it glimmered with resiliency to adversity. He knows it too well and hates the deep part of where its strength comes from.
"Farewell, Alicia, Let us meet again, alive if possible"
With that final parting words, he turned around never to look back as disappeared into the crowd, buying the necessities of everyone in the village, finding ways on living with the responsibility that he alone burdened.
