Chapter 10 - Battlefield of the Gods

Wyll's head was spinning; his guts and body felt numb as he stood in the rubble with Askalon in hand. Askalon's form had shifted completely, seeing as he took the form of a weapon, a pure metal shaft; Engraved up and down Askalon were glyphs and runes that seemed to constantly be changing as if an ever changing ink blot. Looking at his new partner and the shifting symbols too long added to his headache even further as he hissed, the ever changing glyphs making him queasy.

[[&%( ###*) %%*()43, Askalon, polearm weapon type. Spear - Hunting Spear. Rarity: Undefined. Wielder: Wyll. Size, Shaft-7 feet, Spearhead- 1 foot 2 inches. Skills- Soul Link, Sentient Weapon, Parallel Thinking, Symbiosis]]

Wyll hissed as the voice of Pan, gentle and androgynous, still grated the nerves of Wyll as another invaded his head. He winced, shaking his head as his grip tightened as he felt like something inside him was off. He groaned as he fell to his knees a bit, looking towards the others who seemed to be having a similar reaction, all of them but Sela who inspected her Weapon before making her way to the doors of the church. Looking back at her fellow chosen, she scoffed, shaking her head as she pushed the doors open to the ensuing chaos.

{Calm yourself Wyll; your emotions are running rampant and making it difficult to Soul Link us better. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, listen to the harp, feel the music, and join in with your soul.}

Wyll groaned as Askalon joined the fray in Wyll's mental landscape as his body shook. With a shaky breath, Wyll cleared his mind, stealing his thoughts quietly. As the noise of the outside world faded the sound of the harp illuminated Wyll's soul, causing a ripple deep within him as he stilled his resolve. With a moment's notice Wyll's soul imitated the soundwaves of the harp with his own voice since he couldn't think of an instrument he felt versed in. The distress fading quickly as the two wavelengths became more refined and in tune before a soft bell rang, the two not in complete harmony but there was less havoc to Wyll's soul. A gentle ring of a bell sounded in Wyll's head as his attention was grabbed, eyes darting about curiously.

[[Soul Link complete. First Mistake and Wyll are now on the similar soul length. Symbiosis has been linked; both Weapon and Wielder will begin growing together. Prerequisite has been met between Weapon and Wielder, skills and abilities will now be earned, gained, and rewarded. Beginner Spear Technique: Lvl 1 has been awarded. Prerequisite has been met between Weapon and Wielder, Basic Magic: Lvl 1 has been awarded due to both parties having magic circuits. Unfortunately the parties are not versed in the main elements to establish more advanced Magic. #$%^& has overwritten requirements; Chaos Magic: Lvl 1 has been acquired. WARNING: Chaos Magic is ill advised at Wielder's current abilities, backlash and negative effects that are incurred by Wielder's use of a Primal Magic will be exponentially dangerous.]]

Wyll hissed as the flood of information filled his mind and a corresponding window popped up. He shook his head as he cleared the message, taking note of the warning as he stretched and brushed himself off. He looked over at the other Wielders, seeing them filled with a mix of emotions due to the series of events as Wyll pulled Fletch from the rubble.

"Well if this isn't a shit show!"

The large burly man who stood with Valria, his hair was an unkempt mess and he barely wore clothes, a beast fur covering his loins as he shook his head in disappointment before Askalon lept from Wyll's hand and took on his human form once more. He stood with his arms crossed, glaring at the larger man who stepped closer with a puffed chest. Murderous intent spilled from the man as he wore an unsettling smile.

"I'd call you brother but that would soil all of our names! Tch, come in here with your junk swinging like you're the top dog! Askalon, The Defect, has formally joined the fray this time! Who pulled your leg this time to get you to join our game! Hundreds of years ago you were bitching about how we shouldn't squabble! That we should listen to Senior Askalon! You joined last time to make a point late in the game because one of the Creators forced your hand!"

The aura the man gave off was almost suffocating as Wyll struggled to breathe, the sounding of Askalon's harp drew him back, allowing him to breathe as he let out a sigh. Askalon shook his head and sucked his teeth as he turned his back to the man.

"My my, still such a temper on you younger brother? Shouting my name for all the Wielders to hear is a bit rude! But nevertheless, it looks like my hand was played for a very obvious reason, the chained Creator has been unleashed and The Destroyer responded in kind. Instead of relying on you second rate Weapons, Chaos went out of their way to call on me, begrudgingly to say the least…"

Askalon's dig wasn't taken lightly as the others flinched and glared at Askalon before they shook their heads. Wyll was taken back some, still reeling from the events that had taken place as Yama clears his throat, grabbing everyone's attention.

"Calm down everyone! Weapons, behave yourselves! Things have taken a drastic turn but the rules cannot be ignored since two unknown variables are now at play… As glad as I am to see you are Wyll and Fletch, I am sorry to say that many will not look at you very kindly now that the Destroyer is backing you each. Grand Creator above, why couldn't things have been simpler?"

Yama shakes his head, rather stoically standing where the Bishop had been in a pool of the man's blood as he looked over everyone and their respective partners. The light show had stopped, none of the Wielders were radiating any sort of aura any more.

"You all have been chosen to participate in a long forgotten and very important event. The Battlefield of the Gods, a contest between the Creators to test out the races on our planet. Each of you have been recognized by a Creator to be their champion, henceforth you will all be referred to as such. Champion of Gedhel, Valria. Champion of The Destroyer, Wyll. And so on. The rules are thus. First, there will be a grace period starting today, meaning that no one can outright attack other Champions or followers. The second rule is as follows, it is each Wielder/Champion's responsibility to build a force. Be it an organization, a kingdom, a mercenary squad or so on, you must do so with your own hands and exploits. For example Sela is unable to rely on her father's land or title. Your exploits, hard work, good name, strength, cunning and all other means are at your disposal. Anything you achieve on your own is fair game. No money will be given to you, the only guidance the Church of the Smith's Forge will give you is based on your retainers. Any quests pertaining to the Church will be given through them. Once the grace period is over, the real war will begin. You are all dismissed, we recommend saying your goodbyes and beginning your treks to make your own path. Your retainer has already made the preparations for your seals to prove your participation in the Battlefield of the gods. Dismissed!"

Yama shouts out, his face stern as he steps out of the puddle and watches as the group begins to pour through the doors. Though the other Champions took their time, Wyll wanted to be out from under the prying eyes. Quickly he grabbed Fletch's arm and quickly dragged him from the church as Askalon followed swiftly behind. Wyll was nervous, the title looming over his head felt sickening as he couldn't make much sense of it all.

Fletch sensed this bit of stress from Wyll, still shocked a bit that the blue haired boy had been chosen by The Destroyer. He felt a bit bad as he rubbed his shoulder precariously. Fletch looked back to see Askalon walking with them, still so unsure about the Weapon claiming to be the First Forged of the First Forged. He had never heard of such a title yet the other Weapons seemed to somewhat acknowledge him with some distain. Fletch had so many questions, huffing as he thought it would be best to do some digging in the archives of the church before leaving to answer some questions.

"Looks like I was unfortunately right Wyll. Looks like you have the displeasure of being this old pervert's partner! Tch, if I would have known when I fixed your circuits I would have just fixed 'em to the point that the pain would have stopped. Instead I have to settle for being one of your teachers. Now we have to find a mage which is easier said than done in this day and age, not to mention them taking on a whelp of a Wielder or Champion of Chaos; or should I say The Destroyer."
