Chapter 20 - Chapter 17: Small debut

"Okay, breathe in. Breath out. Breath in." Danelle sat on her bed cooling her nerves. Last night Mr. Mwamba told her that she would be presenting her powers to a whole bunch of important people the next day which is today at 1:30pm which is 5 hours from now.

"Hey Danelle." Suiw greeted the older girl she was coming from taking a shower so she was wrapped in a bathrobe. The boys weren't in the room so it was okay.

"Hey Suiw." She greeted her back.

"Where are the guys?"

"I told them you would be coming from the shower soon so they needed to leave so that you would change."

"Wah thanks Danelle~." Suiw thanked her and went through her travelling bag to pick out great clothes for today's event. She noticed that her friend seemed a little stressed. "What's wrong?" She asked her.

"Am just nervous about showing off my quirk to MPs that's all but also it's my first step to becoming my type of hero." She admitted.

"Really what type of hero do you want to be Danelle?"

"I wanted to be a more environmental hero."

"Cool, why though?"

"Oh, it's nothing big but there's a small river where in my neighbourhood me and friends would go there and play all the time but over time it began to get more polluted till it was gone so every time, I see a polluted river it just makes me angry so yeah I really want to muster this side of my quirk to prevent that."

"I see." Suiw nodded but then smiled. "You know a way to make me feel better." That got Danelle's full attention. "Shopping for new clothes." She declared.

"Huh. Suiw I really like clothes shopping as much as the other girl. How will that help me clear my nerves?"

"Oh, come on Danelle stylish clothes boost people's confidence. I mean celebrities with actual fashion sense you cannot tell me they don't ooze confidence when they strike a pose. And come on you're telling me that whenever you wear a certain set of clothes you don't feel a little something."

Danelle thought about it and Suiw was a little right. Maybe getting some nicer clothes will help give her a little confidence boost but there was one problem.

"I don't have the money for new clothes." Danelle said down casted.

"Don't worry girl, allow me to grant your wish~."

"What are you, my fairy godmother now?"

"I prefer the term fair godsister."

"Well fairy godsister do you have cash on you?"

"Nope but I have my means." She winked and walked to her bed picking up her phone and calling a number.

"Hey momma." She spoke. "Yes, I'm fine momma. Can I ask you for something? Can you please give your daughter some money? Oh, come on momma, it's therapy shopping. My friend and fellow Pillar member Danelle is about to have a big day today and she needs a confidence boost and you always told me nice clothes are one of the ways to do it." There was a little silence when she began speaking again "Really thanks momma! Love you too. Yess I'll say hie to Chimwemwe byeii~." Suiw then cut the phone.

"My momma will send the cash on Airtel money am fairy god sister or what." Suiw smirked a little with three crystals forming around her.

"Yes, miss godsister I appreciate it so you going to get dressed or what?"

"Right, sorry."

A little while later

The girls were just coming out of the room in Suiw dressed and getting ready to enjoy their day out in the city. In the meantime, Chimwemwe came by with Lusungu following close behind him.

Chimwemwe was just wearing white shirt with black ages with a picture of a tiger ripping through it, an open vest hoodie, brown pants folded to his knees and sandless. Lusungu was wearing a green shirt with gears, jean shorts and white shoes.

"You two are going to have a girls' day out or something?" Chimwemwe asked the female pillars.

"Yep, I am taking Danelle to Crossroads mall for some therapy shopping." Suiw answered her.

"Are we even allowed to go out by ourselves?" Lusungu asked them.

"Well Vincent left and went to god knows where but as long as everybody's here by twelve." Danelle explained to him.

"And besides the crossroads mall isn't that far from here. Will be back on time." Suiw reassured them and grabbed Danelle's arm. "Come on Danelle, time wasting and Chicky my momma said hello." The two girls then ran off.

"Hey Chimzey now that they're gone can I ask you to please help me power up the radio I've been fixing?" Lusungu asked the older boy.

"Sure, why not I want to see how this one blows up in your face." Chimwemwe mused going into the room which the gear changer didn't find amusing.

"IT'S NOT GOING TO BLOW UP THIS TIME!!" Lusungu yelled lowing Chimwemwe.

Lusungu than go to his bed and took out the fixed radio. Chimwemwe took a look at it and he's got to admit Lusungu actually did a good job on in it.

"Now if you please do the honors and don't worry there's a stable fuse in there."

Chimwemwe just hummed and supplied the radio with at least 12 volts of electricity as that's mostly the minimal recruitment of old radios. Not long after, the radio began to play a sports station much to Lusungu's delight.

"YES!" He screamed and hugged Chimwemwe causing the electric user to awkwardly pat his back in return but then got the younger boy off him.

"So now that's done, what are you going to make now?" Chimwemwe asked him.

"Easy, I am going to start fixing and making vehicles next. I've already started reading more advanced level mechanical books."

"Dude, aren't you like six or seven years old, why are you reading advanced mechanics?"

"Because I one day want to go and be a part of I-island."

"Wait, I thought you wanted to be a hero."

"Oh, I do but ever since I love building and fixing stuff and maybe if I get good enough, I might get accepted into I-island and learn some real mechanics from actual scientists."

"Woah little nigro throwing shade on the scientists here." Chimwemwe laughed a bit.

"Little nigro what does that mean?"

"Never mind what I said." Chimwemwe then stretched but then his phone began to ring and so that it was his Uncle J.

"Yo uncle J."

"Hey kid, are you alone right now if you not go to the spot you are." Joseph said seriously getting Chimwemwe off guard a bit but did what he was told and went into the showers.

"Okay Uncle J am alone , what's the issue?"

"Listen, the boys of Takhar said your little pillar project is having a little event today at Limbi, right?"

"How the hell did they know that?"

"Never mind that I am just calling to let you know that some members of Takhr will be there. They're think that some members of Kujitenga and other villain parties will be there so I just wanted to call you to tell you to be extra safe."

"Okay but how can I tell how to be a Takhar?"

"Am not supposed to tell you kid but just in case they will blend in the crowd by posing as highly secure bodyguards so it's going to be hard but their equipment will be a lot more advanced than the actual guards." Joseph explained. "Alright Chimzey have fun bye." He then cut the phone in a hurry.

"Well, that wasn't much help." Chimwemwe thought while looking at his phone. "I hope they use Bluetooth headsets, maybe they will have radio wavelengths from the actual guards." Chimwemwe thought to himself.

"Fuck I still haven't gotten a proper handle on how to us differentiate electromagnetic waves." Chimwemwe has been working on a different way to use his quirk weeks ago and so far, he was working on using it as a sensor by emitting some very small microwaves from multiple directions and reading the returning waves acting like a radar as he was getting tired of being sneaked up on or surprise attacked.

It was still in practice but he was getting some great results from it. He then thought about practising here while he still had a good couple of hours. He then came out of the bathroom and walked to his bed.

"Hey Lus, I am going to practice my quirk for a bit and can I borrow your radio." He told the younger boy who nodded who was focused on tweaking with some remote toys he got from god knows where. "Great, where did you get that stuff?" He magnetically pulled the radio towards him.

"Oh, I brought some broken toys in my travel bag to improve." He said looking at them and taking them apart mostly with child curiosity.

Chimwemwe then got on his bed and began practicing. He wondered how the original Misaka Mikoto always had produced constant high amounts of EM waves covering the whole academy city but he knew he could do that one day but not today. Plus, he can't produce different EM waves at the same time as he needs to switch which one he wants to focus on in the EM spectrum.

He then began practising on the concept of radio waves using Lusungu's fixed radio and the radio app he just downloaded on his phone to get a handle on how to tell different devices radio waves in the same and different channels. Of course, he was just picking up on them through my own radio waves but he can't actually broadcast the channels he needs his headphones for that his he put on.

As Chimwemwe and Lusungu were busy with their own personal missions for a good amount Vincent came through the door and the two didn't even pay attention to him. All Vincent saw was Chimwemwe with his headphones on looking intensely at a radio and his phone along with Lusungu breaking apart some remote cars and helicopter.

"Where are the girls?" He asked but the two didn't answer as they were in their own little worlds now. "HEY!!" He yelled and got their attention. "Where are the girls!?" He growled at them.

"They left to go to the crossroads mall." Chimwemwe answered him.

"When."

"Around 9:20, so 30 minutes ago." Vincent just gave him a bemused look. "What."

"It's 12:12 you dumbass." Vincent told him.

"For real huh. Did you know that much time has passed Lus?" Chimwemwe asked the younger boy.

"Uh no." Lusungu answered.

"Seriously, are you both stupid or something? The event will start in like an hour and you didn't think to look for them."

"Wow guess you do care." Chimwemwe mocked. "Listen Vincent firstly, why don't you call Danelle or something and check in if you're so worried because the way I know Suiw must have gotten carried away. Secondly asshole you better start watching how you talk to me unless you want a repeat of what happened a few days ago." Chimwemwe smirked a little darkly with electricity dancing on his finger.

Yes, he knew he was mentally older and threatening Vincent a little bit much but he was getting a little tired of him at this point.

Vincent snared at him clenching his wooden fists. Lusungu didn't know what to do in this tense situation.

"BOYS WERE BACK!!" Suiw yelled as she and Danelle coming into the door with big smiles on their faces, each carrying a two-shopping bag.

"HEY GUYS AM GLAD YOUR BACK!" Lusungu was really happy they got back and diffused the situation.

"Hey Vincent, what time did you get back?" Danelle asked the plant user.

"Just like 10 minutes before you guys did." He answered. "You two were almost late, you know."

"Oh, don't be such a sorepuss Vinny, we got here like an hour before leaving~." Suiw reassured me.

"Don't call me again and as I like going out and a little downtime, we have to remember fucking MPs and I don't know THE number two hero will be there!" His mouth was clogged by a crystal made and thrown by Suiw.

"Sheesh jerk." She smacked her lips at him and throw herself on her bed and Vincent spat out the crystal and glared at her

"Vincent why are you being such a prick."

Danelle asked, annoyed by his outbursts.

"It's just a lot of important people will be there and I really want to make an impression if I want to have a head start of being a top hero."

"Well, you don't have to take it out on us." She moved to her bed and set her bags. "How much time do we have till they pick us up?"

"About 45 minutes." Suiw answered by looking at the time on her watch on her phone. "Come on, let's change into our new outfits while we have time." The two girls went to the bathroom to change.

Vincent just sighed and went on his bed waiting for their pick up and he turned and saw the two boys just continuing with their previous activities.

'Seriously, what the hell is he doing?' He questioned looking at Chimwemwe.

The two girls then come out of the bathroom and are currently wearing their new clothes. Vicent couldn't help but stare at Danelle and grow a little blush on his face. (Image whatever when it comes to their clothes are not good at female fashion).

"So, guys, what do you think Suiw hand picked for us?" Danelle asked the boys.

"Wow you guys look amazing!" Lusungu innocently praised them, getting the two girls to smile.

"I-I y-you look I-I mean you both great." Vincent stammered a little and Danelle giggled at his reaction.

The two then turned to Chimwemwe who was still busy with his own little world. Suiw than cleared her throat loudly to get his attention but he couldn't hear due to the headsets. She didn't again but nothing even called his name and that didn't work. Her eyes twitched and she formed a small crystal ball from the carbon in the air and threw it at Chimwemwe.

Even without looking, the electromagnetic user easily caught the crystal ball on reflex, surprising everyone in the room. He than turned to the two girls and saw the angry/pouty face of Suiw and he realised what was required here.

"Oh, right, sorry. You guys look stunning." He complimented them.

"O-of course I am and don't you forget it." Suiw twirled her hair a little bit blushing at the compliment.

"Thanks, Chimwemwe." Danelle thanked him and he hummed as the crystal dissolved and his hands.

It didn't take look when Mr. Kewil came to the room to collect them, he noticed the two girls were more dressed to impress than the boys. Of course, he knew they went to Crossroads mall as they put a tracker in Danelle's phone which was provided by them as her boarding didn't allow phones but the pillar project struck a bargain with the school.

"You know you boys should pick up a thing or two from the girls when it comes to dressing for the occasion." She joked and the three boys rolled their eyes. "Okay no more wasting time lets go now."

They all left the room and it was off to the carpark and to limbi.

A Little While Later

The car had arrived at the area of the limbi river and the pillars saw a crowd of people gathered around the area. There was even a stage for the announcement.

The river was more sewage than river, the smell of fees and rotten leftover products thrown in it. It had no traces of clearness, only polluted brown and on top of that there were traces of dead animals and even rotten remains of people.

"Danelle you okay." Chimwemwe asked the Mermaid as she looked like she was going to puke.

"I just need a minute that's all." She said getting her bearings.

"This is the sad sight of the river." A man said. He looked to be in his fifties, grey beard, his head was covered by a top hat dressed in a white men's caftan, a golden color cane, white pants and black shoes. He also had five guards by him.

Chimwemwe switched from emitting microwaves to radio waves to get a good layout on the wavelength they use to differentiate others that might come by.

"Mr. Luhanga, it's an honour sir." Kewli greeted the man.

"Professor Mgaya." He nodded in respect as both men shook hands. He then eyed the four pillars but Chimwemwe in particular. "So, these are the ones."

"Yes, sir children, this is Mr. Luhanga, a major MP." Kewli introduced him.

"As-salamu alakum." He greeted them.

"Wa-alaikum as-salam." The children back.

Mr. Luhanga than turned to Chimwemwe.

"So, your Chimwemwe Caçar am I correct." He then notices the boy flinched a little like he was getting ready for action; he had seen it in his guards. "Don't be alarmed I know all of your names" He reassured the electric user. "Hm I can see the resemblance with that monstrous feline though."

"Excuse me?" Chimwemwe asked, confused and offended because he thought the man was talking about his aunt, agogo, or mom.

"So, children I take it you're all interested to know what happened to the river." He changed the subject and all the children but Chimwemwe nodded. "As you all probably know Nyasaland used to be three countries this part of the country formerly known as Malawi housed this river and when under governess of it's first president or should I say dictator the river was actually well kept and there was even a special holiday dedicated just to clean it.

But after he was kicked out of office the leaders after him didn't give a damn about the river leading to the citizens to be as careless as they want with it so it got more and more polluted. But the war happened and Blantyre didn't experience that many casualties due to the war taking place in the northern side but on rare moments it did suffer casualties like the dead people and waste were dumped here."

"So, you're saying that the river is filled with dead people from hundreds of years ago." Danelle spoke.

"Some recent but yes." Mr. Luhanga said. "It's a miracle there still is the limbi river and to make it worse, it has become highly toxic and radioactive causing a spread in diseases in areas of Limbi and beyond. But with your quirk Ms. Pangiwa we might not only save the Limbi River but others throughout Nyasaland."

Seven more cars showed up and 4 men and 3 women well dressed in business suits came out of the vehicles and some with about two security guards each. Two of them the pillars recognized Mr. Mwamba and Mr. Sosala.

"Daddy!" Suiw ran to her father and jumped in his arms. She was just happy to see him as it's been two weeks since she's seen him.

"Hey my little diamond it's nice to see you." He laughed while hugging his daughter. "Hello Chimwemwe, it's good to see you're doing well."

"Nice to see you too mister Sosala." Chimwemwe who walked over to them greeted them back. He then picked up on the radio wavelength of the other security guards and it was exactly the same or extremely similar as the others.

Before the father-daughter duo could converse, Mr. Luhanga went up on stage and began to give a speech. Chimwemwe didn't pay attention to it though his radio radar picked up a different frequency he then turned and saw a black car and people coming out dressed like security also.

"Hey Mr. Mwamba."

"Yes, young Caçar." Mr. Mwamba answered.

"Did they hire a private security team or something?" Chimwemwe asked.

"Oh yes with dangers like Kujitenga and other villain around they wanted to be extra careful so Mr. Luhanga said that knew team and he said there the only ones he trusted." He answered. "Wait, how did you know there was a private team here?" He asked suspiciously.

"That car showed up and it doesn't look military so I was curious." Chimwemwe said the half-truth.

Chimwemwe then noticed Mr. Luhanga had finished his speech with the crowd cheering and he introduced Professor Kweli on the stage. Chimwemwe got a little hungry and he wondered of to get something to eat. Luckily the polluted river area wasn't that far away from the shops.

"Ladies and gentlemen, might I introduce to you the solution to our water disasters on one of the five pillars that will lift up Nyasaland Danelle Pingiwa!" Kweli introduced Danelle, prompting her to go on stage.

Danelle walked to the stage nervously. When people saw her they were in awe of her appearance and Suiw's help in picking out her outfit seemed to have added to that. A lot of people began to take pictures on their phones. Luckily there was no news crew yet.

"Danelle please show them what you can do and once you separate the waste put them in the large container." Kewli instructed and pointed at a very large container.

Danelle breathed and out then lifted a huge part of the river much to the crowd's astonishment. She then separated all forms of impurities from the river and placed the into one of the containers. The large container wasn't enough to hold all the waste but it was good enough to make an impression on the people around.

"Did that Twelve-year-old girl seriously just do that?" One civilian said.

"She has a real strong quirk there."

"She's so pretty too."

"Yeah, do you think her quirk I related to the legends of Mami Wata?" Another civilian spoke.

"What"

"She's like a mermaid who's the goddess of water and brings wealth and good fortune to those who pray to her."

"Mami Wata, you say."

"Wait he said there were five does that mean there's four more like her!"

Whispers and rumors began spreading amongst the crowd of Mami Wata reincarnated in a quirk form and is now basically the girl in front of them.

"Daddy are you hearing this." Suiw laughed at the rumors spreading around that her friend was a powerful water spirt in human form.

"Welcome to Africa Suiw no matter how ridiculous we can route anything to the supernature." He laughed.

"Wait where's Chicky?" Suiw looked around for her friend.

"The future of Nyasaland interesting." A woman floating in the sky looking down at Danella. She was average height brown eyes, her hair was in an afro style, she wore a printed like shirt which reached her up belly, tight black pants with the upper and lower edges matching her shirt, a cloth around her waist matching her shit, long yellow bracelets with green stripes in form of an X and yellow earrings.

This was Nyasaland's number two hero Kuyaka. She spotted the Sosala's and smiled brightly.

"Oh, the Sosala's are her too but why isn't Jemima with them?"
