"Ruby, what do you mean?"
Everyone slowly turned to me and looked with curiosity.
"What does she mean, Airi-san?"
My friend asked.
"Ah, don't worry, Yuichi. It's Ruby's Singularity. Though only being a third-apostle, she's important to the Church. Ruby can see visions of the future but there is no certainty that the visions she sees will come true."
"How many of her visions have come true?"
Isla asked.
"Well, she's had around fifty visions and only one of those visions have come true."
So, there's no chance that whatever she saw was true or not. Of course, I'd need to listen to what she has to say.
"Talk, Ruby."
Airi ordered.
"I just saw a vision. A man. He looked similar to him, but his aura was different."
"So, then, it's not this boy, then."
"Aura?"
"Aura refers to the life energy, mana, one has. Someone's life energy cannot change, no matter what."
"Ah,"
Airi answered my question.
"What did the man do?"
I asked, slightly curious.
"Well, that's the strangest part. He seemed to be observing a fire from afar and he muttered something about killing a god."
That sounds... sinister. Some sort of God-killer, maybe?
Heck, why am I taking this seriously? Basically, none of her visions has come true.
"Eh."
Ruby made a small noise before...
"NOOOOOOOOOO!"
The girl shrieked, holding her head, shaking in fear. She began crying and shook uncontrollably.
"Ruby, what's wrong?!"
Airi attempted to comfort her, but even she was unsure of what was going on.
"H-h-h-h-he looked!"
"He looked?"
I repeated.
"He saw me! Through my vision! He said he would kill me!"
"Through your vision?! Hey, Ruby! Ruby!"
·———·
The apostles left after Diamond had some sort of fit. I felt bad because she had the vision because that person looks like me but I also didn't feel bad because they attempted to scout Yuichi for the Church.
I then left Isla and Yuichi, so that they could enjoy their little date.
"I think I'll go and chill back in the dorms."
Though, on my way back to the dorms, I encountered Maden-senpai, who seemed to be talking to a girl.
"And so, that's why we should—"
"Yo, Maden-senpai."
I greeted him.
When he turned around, he looked slightly surprised.
"You shouldn't be talking to girls behind Haibara-senpai's back, should you?"
I teased him.
"Sh, shut up..."
He whispered.
Maden-senpai was a natural flirter. He flirts with about any cute girl he finds.
"Eh, Kazuya?"
"Ameri?"
Ameri popped her head out from behind Maden-senpai.
"You know this freak?"
"Y-yeah..."
From what I know, people who flirt with girls at random in the west are usually creepy. She probably thinks Maden-senpai is a weird guy. Which is kind of true.
"Huh, huh?"
Maden-senpai turned his head, confused.
·———·
"I'm sorry for Senpai's actions."
I told Ameri.
"It's fine. It just shows how not all people in Japan are different from those in the west."
She said with a dissatisfied smile.
I don't blame her. It must've been tiring trying to deal with Maden-senpai.
"So, what were you doing?"
She asked me.
"Me? I was with Isla and Yuichi until just a few minutes ago."
"Hm... Did you just get friend-zoned or something?"
"Hah?"
"By Isla?"
I stared at her, slightly disgusted.
"You don't have to make that face."
"What about you?"
"Hm?"
"You tried to be Yuichi's girlfriend."
I told her.
"Yeah, honestly, that was because most of the girls I know love him so much, so I wanted to see what he was about."
We sat in the lounge area of the second dorm building.
"Some of your friends wouldn't happen to be Ichino Amakusa and Saya Kisaki?"
"Eh, but that's exactly who they are."
Fucking knew it.
We already know about Ichino Amakusa's case, so let me explain Saya Kisaki's.
Saya Kisaki is a third-year, like Amakusa. Kisaki used to go to my middle school. We used to be good friends until she had a fallout with me, for some reason.
When I attended this school, we argued, for god knows what reason, and she began blaming me for some things I didn't do. Yuichi seemed to intervene and talked to her and she somehow fell in love.
It annoys me that she fell in love because she argued with me about things that I never did.
Saya Kisaki is one of those girls who I hate with my whole heart.
"I'm not going to fault you for also falling in love with Yuichi but I'm just going to tell you that those two are blind lovers."
"Yeah, I could tell when I asked about him. Though, I don't see what they see in him."
She said, looking apathetic.
"Really..."
This talk of love doesn't suit me. It'd be better to change the subject.
"Honestly,"
She sat up.
"If I was in love with anyone, then it would be you."
I stayed silent. I tried to act calm, but my heart was pounding faster on the inside.
The first time someone has said that to me...
"I mean, you're cool, smart, way better looking than Yuichi and you seem to care for others more."
I tried to answer calmly.
"Way better looking? I'm not that good-looking. I mean, a goddess told me that I have an ugly face and Yuichi has a cute face."
Ameri didn't seem to believe me.
"That goddess has no taste then."
She answered casually.
"..."
Ameri seems so nonchalant about it. She just confessed to my face and she's still acting normal.
I... don't know how to respond now. I'm feeling kind of awkward.
Argh, this silence is killing me!
"Well,"
She said, standing up.
"I think I'll return to my dorm room. See ya."
"Uh, yeah..."
I don't think I'll be able to face her properly for a while, despite today only being the first time we interacted with each other.
