As we stood there, facing the Eeries, a cold sense of dread washed over me. I wanted to run, escape from the hell we were about to face, but I knew these creatures would easily catch up in seconds. The only option was to fight. Two was already bad enough, but with them having the number advantage, I knew our chances of survival were next to zero.
I looked over at Gwendolyn, amazed by her resilience. Even with a bad arm, she stared them down, refusing to back away.
"Let's try not to die," I muttered, readying myself for the inevitable clash.
"Hmph," she grunted in reply.
With a silent nod, we charged forward, our swords raised high as we prepared to face our doom head-on. The Eeries let out a bone-chilling screech, their claws slashing through the air as they moved to intercept us.
