SONATA handed the pale and trembling Lady Jane Brashares to one of the Soaring Eagle Knights. "Take her to my office. I'll be there soon."
The knight, who knew that Sonata was a dame trusted by both the king and the general, still turned to General Anton first.
General Anton nodded, subtly giving his permission for the knight to follow Sonata's order.
[Oops. I'm so used to ordering people around that I've forgotten I'm not on my turf at the moment.]
Then the knight bowed towards Sonata. "I understand, Dame Hexford. I'll bring Lady Brashares to your office."
"I'd like to request my lawyer," Lady Brashares said in a slightly confident voice. It seemed like she had pulled herself together after being silent all this time. "I won't say anything until my lawyer arrives."
Pfft.
Sonata turned to Lady Brashares, then she whispered something in the lady's ear. "Are you going to call your lawyer or your father's lawyer?"
