Theo's group assembled the carriage and moved all of the stuff from the boats onto it before taking utmost care not to injure Theo any further while moving his unconscious body and the little kid glued to his lap. And with all of those things done, Nay simply discarded the now-empty boats, making two horses lead the carriage while keeping the third one on a long leash attached to the side of the wagon.
And so, the small group moved ahead, racing against the incoming tide to reach the properly solid ground.
