A month had passed already. Almora fell for Evans and decided to continue their relationship. She was also given the lead of the dance performance for the school's winter party.
They were all currently in their classes when an announcement was made from the speakers in their classrooms. "As we all know that Thanksgiving is getting near. We are allowing you all to go home for a week and that week is the week of Thanksgiving. Your exams will commence next week. I wish you all success" and the announcement ended.
"They are letting us go home" Almora said, surprised. "I thought they said we don't leave until the whole four years are completed" she continued. "That was back in those days. Things are changing now" Stacy said.
"I'm sure you all know your exams won't be in written form. What I'm going to ask you to do for me is going to be a surprise?" Mr Powell said, bringing back their attention to him. He continued with what he was teaching them. Almora continued pretending like she was still a beginner at using magic not showing that she already knew way much.
The bell finally rung for lunch break. "I'll meet you guys at the cafeteria. I have something I want to quickly attend to" Stacy said. "Okay" Amy and Almora nodded and she left. "When were you going to tell me?" Almora asked Amy. "Tell you what" Amy said, confused.
"About you and Brian" she said, smiling. "What happened to the both of us?" Amy asked nervously. "See, I got you. So, when did you both become a thing?" Almora said, staring at Amy like an investigator. "How did you find out?" Amy asked, shocked.
"I'm your friend Amy and we are quite closer. There's no way I wouldn't have found out" Almora said. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you. We just didn't want it out yet" Amy apologized. "I'm not annoyed. I'm just curious to know how it all happened" Almora giggled. They took their lunch and settled down on a table.
"Okay, fine" she facepalmed herself. "It was during the time you were missing. When I was feeling down that you weren't around, he was there and one day we just kissed. That's how it started" she explained.
"So you guys started dating during the time I was missing" Almora poked her. "Stop it and please I don't want Stacy to know yet. Don't say anything to her" Amy begged. "Why don't you want..... Urggghhh okay, I won't tell her" she agreed.
Stacy had joined them later and Almora didn't say a word about Amy and Brian's relationship to her.
They were already in the week of their exams. Almora and her friends were sitted on the ground outside. "I don't look forward to Thanksgiving every year" Almora said, brushing the hair off her face.
"Why don't you always look forward to Thanksgiving?" Oliver asked. "That's because the whole family is going to be around during that week and some of my family members from my father's side don't like me for what I am and those people are my uncle, Aunt and their children" she explained. "Wow that's harsh" Brian said.
"I even heard my uncle tell my dad once that he should have killed me when I was born or just dump me somewhere just because I'm a Red. Like is it my fault I am what I am" she said, feeling sad. "Why don't you just stand up to them and say your mind?" Stacy suggested. "Yh I'm definitely going to make them have a taste of their own medicine" Almora sneered. "What are you up to?" Amy asked. "Nothing" she said.
Lucian and Evans just sat down listening to their discussion. "Why don't we meet a day to Thanksgiving?" Oliver suggested. "Yeah that will be nice" Almora agreed. "At least I will be free from chores for that day" Amy seconded. They continued discussing till it was time for their exams.
It was already night. Almora and Lucian were at their usual spot on the roof. They were both covered with blankets. "You only talked about your father's family. You never said anything about your mother's" Lucian turned to her. Almora let out a deep sigh "Yh, my mom's family doesn't have any problem with me but my dad's family has a problem with them. So to avoid fights, they don't come. My parents marriage wasn't an arranged marriage, it was a love marriage but ever since I've been little, I've never seen them display a public affection. My dad even meets with other women outside and claims he is on a business trip".
"I always feel bad for my mum whenever she feels alone. My mum is quite strong and I feel their love for each other but they never show it. I guess there's something wrong which me and my brother don't know about" she continued, staring at the night sky. "I'm sorry I asked that question" Lucian apologized.
"It's alright. I'm happy I got to share what was in my heart with someone" Almora smiled at him. "You should smile sometimes you know" Almora said and Lucian scoffed.
"When is your dad going to show you to the world?"
