Rain didn't know how to process the events that had just happened, particularly with the guard. Although the things he did weren't super human-like and broke physics, he did things much faster, and stronger than any person should be able to do.
Rain began to feel herself, feeling for any injuries or broken bones that the hog caused when it close-lined her. However, she couldn't find anything serious. Although it hurt like hell to get hit, she only had some bruises. No open wounds or broken bones or anything. Before she could continue to ponder the things that just happened, the guard spoke to her.
"Rain was it? Are you hurt? Do you need assistance?"
"Um... I'm actually fine," Rain said as she started to stand up, "miraculously." Rain met the eyes of the guard, and although he was asking sincere questions, his eyes were anything but so. His eyes were sharp, and reading every move she made. "Is everything alright... sir?"
"What are you," the guard asked as he pulled the blade out of the hog began to clean off his blade, and pulled the spear out of the hog's neck.
"I already told you, I lost my memories and just needed a place to stay for some time," Rain said, a little uneasy at the man's incessant and threatening stares.
"I know who you are," he said, but his voice then slowed," I want to know what you are."
"I don't think I understand what you mean..."
"The white mist, you were the one who controlled it, aren't you."
"I mean... yea I guess I am," Rain paused as she realized she was an amnesic who probably wasn't supposed to know how to use it. "When the hog almost killed me, I intrinsically called it out. I wasn't lying when I said I don't remember anything," Rain hurriedly stated.
"And you didn't have a weapon?"
"No. My only option was to quickly run away from it. The thing was terrifying." The guard gave out a slight sigh.
"Doesn't seem like you're lying, plus it did look like you were putting your maximum effort to stay alive. So the culprit couldn't be you."
"Culprit? What Culprit?"
"These hogs don't sit anywhere near close to the border between the fields and the forest, something had to drive it towards the edge, plus all the cut wounds on its side and rear tell that it was likely a person. They are too clean and efficient to be an animal, plus none are deep enough to seriously wound the animal, though it probably lost a lot of blood due to the wounds. Since it took so much effort, the culprit couldn't be too much stronger than the beast. I just hope it's not another situation like ten years ago."

Rain was gonna quickly ask him what that meant but two things forced her to stop. A sudden notification from the system and four more individuals who had quickly ran over distracted her. Rain decided to look at the notification after this situation cleared up. Of the four individuals who came, one of them was the guard from the front gate she saw earlier, but the other three individuals were people she hadn't seen before. One was a giant of a man, with huge bulging muscles, and short blue hair. He carried a large sword on his shoulder and had a mean look in his eyes. The other was a much shorter man, who was wearing odd-looking robes and was carrying a weird-looking wooden staff with a strange blue crystal floating above the wood. It was hard to see any discernible features about the man with his hood on. The last man was also a giant of a man, but his muscles were much less prominent, and his features were clean and regulated. He also wore some sort of armor that had some black fur on it, but under closer inspection, his fur looked as if it had scales as well. The group stopped in front of the two and looked at the dead hog.
"Is that the hog that was rampaging towards the town," the man with the black fur armor said. The guard next to him, the unremarkable one that was standing at the front gate replied to him.
"Yeah, that was the one, I came to get you, while John was supposed to stall it..." His voice trailed off as if the idea that John alone killed the hog.
"So you killed it, John," the man in the black fur asked.
"It was already half dead. It was more like I put it out of its misery," John replied, the guard who had pretty much saved Rain. The man in the black fur sighed before turning towards the two odd-looking individuals.
"Sorry for bringing you out here for nothing." The giant blue-haired individual only grunted in dissatisfaction, before turning around and leaving. The robed individual spoke instead.
"It is alright, but you'll have to pardon 'All Strength', he was looking quite forward to fighting the hog. We're just glad we could assist." After speaking the robed individual also turned around and began to leave. However, it was when the robed individual said 'All Strength' that Rain finally noticed something. Above the heads of the robed individual and 'All Strength' were slightly transparent words. The blue-haired individual had the words 'All Strength' above his head, while the robed individual had the words, 'Fire Phoenix'.
As they left, Rain could hear John under his breath say 'Emmortales' spitefully. His eyes bore a raging flame, the tips of his mouth twitching in anger. Yet, Rain could only look at him confused, because not a moment later his face returned to its rather bored and plain look. Any traces of his previous anger were gone. With the two Emmortales gone, the other two guards finally let out a breath it seemed they had been holding in. The once serious and pious guard with the black fur finally seemed to relax a little. The guard, however, turned his attention to Rain.
"Who is this John," he asked.
"Her name is Rain, she was the one who was running away from the hog. She's clear on any suspicion, she just came into town today, and she has amnesia and only just figured out she's a 'powered'."
"A 'powered'," Rain couldn't help but ask.
"Those with powers," John said like it was a rather obvious thing.
"Well, if she doesn't even know what a 'powered' is, then I guess her amnesia has truth to it," the black-furred guard stated. "What were you doing that pissed off the hog," he asked.
"I was collected flowers for Miguel's sleep remedy. I didn't piss it off, it was already pissed off," Rain said, her voice, getting very defensive.
"I can testify that's what she was doing Kalic," John said.
"You can," Kalic asked, raising an eyebrow.
"That's what she told us when she left town, plus I already figured out that someone led it to the edge of the forest."
"Someone led it to the edge of the forest," Kalic asked in shock, the other guard gasping in shock as well.
"All the cut marks on its sides and rear, plus the fact that she was hanging at the border, it makes sense what happened. Plus I doubt she'd live for very long if she was the one who had brought it to the edge." Kalic could only let out a sigh of resignation.
"Alright, you and Georgy go and tell Chuck we've got a hog for him. I've got to bring this up to the Captain," Kalic said, taking one last look at Rain, before turning around and going back to the town.
"Georgy, go back and tell Chuck about the hog. I'm too tired after killing it to do that kind of work."
"Fine, but I'm only doing it because you did actually kill it," Georgy responded before leaving to head back to the town.
"I am so confused. What just happened," Rain finally spoke out.
"You survived a wild hog attack, and that's about all that matters to you," John said.
"But what was it with those odd-looking guys, you said something about what happened ten years ago, and you said I was a 'powered'." John let out a slight sigh, before looking at the town with a slanted gaze.
"Those guys were the 'Emmortales". Or at least one of them. An undying group of..." he paused as if he was trying to find the correct word"... mercenaries. They're obsessed with fighting, killing, and money. Hardly carrying about anything else. There are some good ones, but those are about the prime example of the 'Emmortales'," he said as he motioned at the 'Emmortales' retreating figures.
"How many 'Emmortales' have you seen," Rain couldn't help but ask.
"Ten or so, most of them came and went, and very few showed any interest in allowing the town to prosper. They were all obsessed with killing the monsters and getting paid. That was until a few years ago..." John's voice began to ooze with hatred, he spat on the ground, but then his voice went back to normal. "Anyways, that's enough about them. Ten years ago, we had a problem with someone driving monsters to our town, it created a stampede and the town was almost lost in it. But we were saved by a mysterious hero, they were the ones who foretold of the 'Emmortales coming'. Everyone thought these 'Emmortales' were gonna be like the hero, but I guess we were naive. The 'powered' are individuals with special strengths. Every single 'Emmortales' is a powered, but a fair bit of the regular populace is as well. More often than not, they are people with enhanced physical abilities or are able to touch on the realm of the mystical. Few can truly reach into the realm of being a strong powered. Even fewer are like you, however, people who have weird and unique powers." John paused talking for a moment before he started walking off again. He turned slightly towards Rain and spoke once more. "I do hope you're not an 'Emmortales'. I do kinda like you." He then continued walking back to the town.
