Chereads / Abyss Mage Dethroned God / Chapter 3 - Cecelia Colman

Chapter 3 - Cecelia Colman

The gentle evening sun ray pierced through the window into the slightly dark room.

The cool evening wind blew in and out making soft noises.

His eyes slowly opened, unable to quickly adjust to the light, it opened only partially.

He began to slowly sit up but immediately felt a very sharp pain at his side.

He let out a cry.

"Aaarrghh!!!"

Usher screamed as he couldn't bear the pain.

"Don't move just yet!"

Someone said hurrying from one side of the room where they sat to quickly stop Usher before he could hurt himself more.

The figure placed one hand on his chest, another on his left shoulder, and then slowly pressed him down back to the bed until he was lying down again.

She then put fort her right hand close to his injured side and used her chi to create a glowing effect that seemed to ease his pain.

"You'll still need another full day of rest"

"Who are you", Usher asked with his eyes still half closed.

"I'm Cecelia Colman, but you can just call me Cecelia. I've been taking care of you for the past two days, you got stabbed with a poisonous arrow, it hurt you bad".

Usher lifted his head to look at the lady who was now sitting right beside him on his bed.

At this time his eyes were beginning to get used to the ambient light and opened fully.

He could now recognize the lady. He had seen her around the military cantonment.

She was one of the medics that attended to wounded warriors.

Cecelia had short dark hair, cat-like deep blue eyes, and light brown skin, very light though.

She had a good height of about 5 feet 9 inches and a face that automatically always had a faint smile.

She wore an armless white gown which ran down to her knees. Her white jacket lay on the chair she had sat upon which was positioned with its back resting on the wall.

Once or twice, Usher had stolen glances at her beautiful slender figure whenever he sighted her around the cantonment. She was one of the most active medics always having a patient to attend to whenever a squad came back from a dangerous mission in the wild or encountered bandits during a mission and the likes.

At the time Usher was rushed to the medic unit in their military base, she had just finished with a patient and was free so she took the responsibility of saving Usher's life.

It had been quite exhausting for her as she had been checking in on Usher morning afternoon and night at his ward, where he had been in a coma for the past two days.

She had operated on him using her chi to detoxicate his blood of the magic poison from the mage arrow, while also fixing his wound. It was an insufferable process because, by the time he was brought to her, the magic poison had almost spread throughout his body.

But being a very skillful medic of rank 18, she had been able to complete the task in just 4 hours even though Usher hadn't still woken up. It would normally have taken a 12-hour operation if it were a medic of a lower rank, and they'll have to be a team of at least 4 medics.

The ranking system in this world is such that rank of 100 is perfection.

But unfortunately, most users of chi only ever attain level 20 in their lifetime as going beyond this limit has consequences on one's physical body. Reaching level 100 means one has become a god, and it has never been attained in the history of the monks from their ancestry to date.

The highest ever attained by a human was level 49, achieved by one of their ancestors named Jimbo Kyle.

He was only able to attain this because he used a forbidden method in a desperate situation to defeat his traitor brother who aided the mages to fight against the monks because he was seeking vengeance against the Sohei council.

But this happened many generations ago and the best of the best since then have only managed to level up to a range between 40 to 45.

The current leader of the Sohei council Ezra Surge is the current level 45.

Going beyond level 20 means one has trained to a point where their body and intellect have been transformed so much that their spiritual pressure can be perceived to be slightly more intense whenever they let it out.

"I'll tell the caterer to bring you something to eat, up until now you've been surviving on my lifeforce due to my transfer of energy through chi."

"Rest well, like I said, you should recover after another 24 hours".

As she spoke, she stood up from the bed and moved towards the chair she had sat on lifting her bag and jacket.

She put on her jacket and began to prepare to leave.

"I'll check on you tomorrow".

She waved him bye as she walked slowly but gracefully towards the door. Who wouldn't love such a sweetheart? She was in her mid-twenties and with the aforementioned features, it was quite impossible to sight her and not look twice.

She left the room and Usher was alone once again.

"I need to get out of this deathbed as soon as possible".

He struggled a bit and turned his body to lie on his left side, then covered himself with the blanket.

He turned his head a bit observing the room.

It was quite empty. It contained only the bed, a chair which Cecilia sat on, a cupboard beside the bed to the wall, and then a box on the cupboard, probably first aid.

'knock knock!'.

A gentle knock was heard on the door.

It then opened to another lady looking younger than Cecilia and she was carrying a tray of a hot meal that slowly filled the room with steam giving off a delicious aroma.

Usher began to salivate on perceiving how luscious it must be.

The lady dropped the tray on the chair and moved it towards him.

"Let me help you up", she said.

"No it's fine, I can't sit straight just yet, you can leave it, I'll be able to stand up in a few minutes". Usher replied.

"Alright. Get well soon". The lady said and then helped him fill up a glass cup on the tray with water from a bottle also on the tray.

She then made for the door and left.
