Chapter 1 - Embracing Destiny: The Final Moments of My Life

"You have a good day as well," I said to the cashier with a friendly smile as I completed my grocery shopping at the local supermarket. The sun was setting, and even though I had to walk home, it didn't bother me much since my apartment building was just a couple of kilometers away. As I made my way, my mind buzzed with a mix of confusion and contemplation over the events of the day.

It all began with my morning routine at the local MMA gym, where I worked on some jiu-jitsu techniques. Afterwards, I had an unfortunate date with a girl named Melissa. Despite her good looks, she seemed completely absorbed in her phone throughout our time together, leaving me disappointed. Adding to my frustration, I ended up spending 60 dollars on the date. To make matters worse, later that evening, my boss informed me that my work hours would be reduced due to the struggling business. "Life can be so unfair sometimes," I sighed, pondering the challenges thrown my way.

Lost in my thoughts, a sudden commotion diverted my attention. I noticed a truck speeding down the street at 60 km/h, honking its horn frantically while the driver waved their hands as if their brakes had failed. A worried woman shouted desperately, "Someone save my daughter!" My heart raced as I spotted a child frozen in fear, standing helplessly in front of the oncoming truck.

Conflicting thoughts wrestled within me. "She won't reach him in time," I hesitated, unsure about risking my own life for a stranger's child. However, a surge of compassion overpowered my doubts, urging me to take action. Suppressing my fear, I sprinted towards the child, drawing strength from my years of MMA training. With adrenaline coursing through my veins, I made a daring dive, pushing the child out of harm's way just moments before the truck arrived.

In that fleeting instant, as I lay on the ground, a rush of realization washed over me. I had willingly placed myself in grave danger, unsure if these were to be my final moments. Memories and regrets flooded my mind, revealing the depth of my yearning for more time with my parents and the remorse for betraying Vanessa, the one person who held a special place in my heart. Now, confronted with the impending collision with the truck, I closed my eyes, bracing myself for what fate had in store.
