Elton's words all bounced off Derek's ear, he was only waiting for the bell so he could head to the library.
The voice kept on ringing in his head, 'but what about the full moon.' Derek asked no one in particular
"The buses will take the students to the hosting school in ten days" Derek heard the Elton say.
"Take the students? Take the students where?" Derek asked. He hadn't followed through the entire class, no one had heard his question. He was still pretty much lost.
'Are we supposed to go somewhere?' he thought to himself. I'll just ask Chuck later. Moreover, the full moon was of more importance to him than anything else at the moment.
Then the bell went off. Derek quickly grabbed his things and rushed out the door. Luckily, Elton had already left, so no questions were asked.
When he got to the library, there were only a few people there. "Perfect" he muttered under his breath. Less people would make his work easier.
He moved swiftly but purposefully through the shelves in the library, using his left hand, he trailed his fingers along the books. Touching each of the books and scanning their names as he passed through them.
Some of the books didn't have names on the side so he just checked their genre. Fantasy, skip. Fiction, skip. He ignored anything that said nothing about the moon and also anything that was fiction.
The first book he saw about the moon was a history book. After he had gone through the lengths of the library, at least where he had access to, he had collected just two books.
The first book was a book of the moon. The book had no genre, so Derek had picked it up, going through the book he realized that it was not such a great idea.
The book mainly talked about how there was a battle for the moon between two clans. And how they ended up destroying the moon.
After reading almost halfway through the book, Derek knew that this was definitely not what he was looking for.
He read through the next book and then the next and all were about weird stories.
"These people ought to put their genre on the cover of their book" he muttered, face palming himself. This was hopeless he thought.
But the more he thought about ignoring the message, the more he remembered he words vividly. It sounded more like a threat than a warning, it gave him the chills whenever he thought about it.
He had combed through the library and that was all he could find, then it suddenly it him. There was one section he had not checked.
Derek walked up to the librarian and asked to check the dome. The librarian stretched out her hand in reply. Derek was stunned, he thought she was asking him for money to gain access into the special section.
Then a second-year student walked up to the librarian and put a slip in her open hand. Her hand closed around the slip and the hand retracted to her side.
"Do you have one too?" The second year asked
"What was that?" Derek asked in return
"The clearance slip. You don't know about that?" he asked.
Of course, Derek don't know. He was not yet enrolled during the orientation for the first years, so the teacher had only passed some of the information they give during orientation.
Mostly about the curfew and a few other important things he needed to know.
"This section of the library, the dome. Is a special portion of the library. It is actually for the teachers, but the student council members are also allowed to make use of it.
Anyone that doesn't fall into that category will not gain access into the dome. Unless maybe you have a clearance slip and that too mostly given to the third years and the second years, like me though that happens on only a very few occasions" the second year concluded
A first year fell into none of these categories, making things a little bit complicated for Derek, he was beginning to get frustrated.
"The dome contains some very important books and history books. Which is why it is not accessed by just anyone." the second year added as he walked to the door of the dome.
He greeted the librarian with a slight bow of his head as if just seeing her for the first time, she replied with a wave of her hand and he disappeared through the big double doors of the dome.
Derek stood at the front of the librarian's desk, watching the spectacle unfold before his eyes, he was short of words.
He needed to get past the doors one way or the other and he was going to do just that, Derek walked away from the counter and into one of the rows of shelves.
He picked a random book and went to sit on an empty chair. I'm There were still a number of people left in the library and a little time before recess was over.
He opened the book and laid it in his front and he started to look around. No one was really giving him attention but he wanted to be discreet.
After watching everyone within is line of sight, he stood up and returned the book to where he had gotten it from. And then walked to one end of the library where he was sure no one could see what he was doing.
There was a glass vase on a small table, Derek walked up to the table and pushed the glass vase to the floor.
It fell with a loud crash, the librarian left her sit and quickly rushed to the noise, when she got there, she saw the broken glass on the floor with the flowers scattered over the floor.
There was no one near the vase, the students round had continued reading, while in the library, no one usually got distracted from such an insignificant incident.
They had only turned once at the sound of the crash and seeing no one, they resumed their reading.
The librarian made a mental note to question the students around the area after their reading session was over.
Derek was already at the librarian's desk, he felt bad about destroying school property but he had to understand whatever was threatening his life.
He pressed the button he saw the librarian touch and the double doors swung open, staring at the magnificent doors he stepped into the famed dome and the double doors slowly closed behind him.
